Jayson ran a hand through his hair, quietly slipping out of his dorm room to meet Victoire in the Common Room. He and Teddy had successfully convinced her that Teddy was sick and Jayson needed her to sneak down to the kitchens with him tonight. If course, his friend was already waiting down one of the corridors, in preparation for their prank on their friend. They loved to tease Toire, seeing as she was the only girl in their little trio, leaving them to bond over teasing her. Of course they both cared about her though, Jay figured he might even love her, although that sometimes made him feel awkward.
Stuffing his hands into his pockets, he stood near the portrait hole, waiting for the girl to come down so they could head out. He was rather excited to see how scared they made her, it would be priceless. Jayson didn’t want her to be mad at them though, he couldn’t stand her being mad at, he figured she would be annoyed but get over it, she had to be use to their pranks by now anyway. It was just midnight, he had come down a little early because he was a tad excited, but she should be coming down any minute now.
With it all set up and ready to go, he found himself a bit antsy as he waited, waiting was the worst part from him. Rocking side to side, changing his weight from one foot to the other, Jayson resisted the urge to hum, since he had to stay rather quiet. He slipped out his wand, flipping it in his hand, he would need it when they exited the common room for light anyway.

falling in love , but it's falling apart. i need to find my way back to the start. victoire lay in her bunk, staring at the wood above her that held up one of her housemates. her comfortable pillows couldn't soothe away her headaches, though. instead, she simply stared and tried to push away the thoughts that crowded her mind. she was slightly worried about teddy, because jayson had said he fell ill. vic hoped it was nothing to worry about, but he was her best friend. she did have feelings for him, being so close, but she supposed that even strong people like him got sick on occasion.
she hadn't wanted to fall asleep, for fear of disappointing jayson. he had asked her, practically pleaded, to accompany him to the kitchens that evening. it seemed pretty important. vic agreed, though she would have much rather enjoyed a good night's sleep. she had a lot on her mind, and more recently she had been experiencing terrible headaches. 'toire strived to keep them at bay and not let others see she was in pain. that's how she had always been, bottling her feelings inside so she appeared strong, not fragile. she was a leader afterall, and couldn't fall to weakness.
she turned her head sideways, her curls following her. they bunched in front of her face briefly before she moved them. vic bit her lower lip as she discovered the time. it was nearing twelve, the time she was supposed to meet jay by the portrait. she stood from her bed and slipped on her white sandals, which she'd sat underneath her bed before the lights turned out. she had already dressed accordingly, enough to fool those she'd be going to sleep, but decent enough to walk around the halls at night. 'toire stood, dressed in a white jacket and red soffee shorts. she snuck out of the room, closing the girl's dormitory door behind her. vic pulled out her wand from her sleeve and moved across the common area, past the crackling fire. "ready?"
she whispered to him. although they were close now, she surely didn't want to wake any stirring lions in the den.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Jayson turned his attention to the girl’s stairway when he heard a creak, watching a familiar form emerge down the steps and head toward him. Despite the only lighting coming from the fire, he knew it was Victoire right away, because he knew her well. He would recognize her anywhere, he knew the way she walked, the way she stood, every physical feature of her. Watching her step close to him, he smiled when she spoke, giving a small nod before turning to exit the portrait, assuming she would follow behind him.
It was amazing how one could go from thinking of her as just a best friend, to realizing how truly amazing she was. Jay had no idea what he would do without her in his life, she made his day, just the sight of her now had made his heart race and forced one of those stupidly excited grins on his face. When people had talked about the way you felt when you were ‘in love’, he had always brushed them off as dreamers, he had never truly been more than just attracted to a girl before. But just a few years ago, he fell for this girl for so much more than her beauty, he was certain he’d have this feelings even if she were unpleasant to look at, because everything else about her was what really made her beautiful.
Once they stepped out of the common room, the portrait swinging shut behind them, Jayson looked back at her with a smile. He sort of felt bad for setting her up, but it was something he and Teddy did often, because while he would never actually want to hurt her, seeing her upset was still amusing to him. “Lumos,” he whispered, the end of his wand lighting up, pointing it toward the ground but toward her so he could make out the face he knew so well. ”Are you nervous?” he teased, him and Teddy had always been more so the ones to sneak out and break all the rules, not that Victoire never did it was just that they were usually the ones to drag her into breaking the rules.
Turning his wand in front of them, he began walking, keeping his pace slow so that they would make sure to make no noise. Also, he wanted to be able to notice if someone came up to them, which made him think of how hilarious it would be if the headmaster really did catch them and the whole time Jayson didn’t know it was really him. ”Thanks for coming Toire, that’s why I love you,” he added with a playful smirk, he really was happy that she came, although he knew she’d be a bit peeved at him soon enough.
needed to be in the corridors before teddy could join in

falling in love , but it's falling apart. i need to find my way back to the start. she and jay ventured out into the hall, both of their wands out. as soon as jay uttered 'lumos' she did the same, projecting a small light from the tip of her wand. victoire looked up at him as he spoke through the dimly lit area around them. "no...i just don't see why i have to go with you at this late hour,"
she muttered, raising her left hand to rub her eye. she yawned slightly, then looked back up at him. "i didn't sleep, which isn't really helping my headache," vic finished, raising her eyebrows and pursing her lips out. she sighed, then looked to her left, watching the portraits stir slightly as the pair went past them. 'toire ran a hand through her curls, untangling them a bit. she rolled her eyes at jayson, and humbly chuckled. "no problem i guess." the only reason, really, that victoire didn't mind missing sleep was because of her nightmares. more recently, she had been upset at the fact of bringing people back to life so they could live. she knew that those wizards and witches deserved to live a good, happy life, but they didn't before. that was the life they had been given. vic knew the whole start of it was because of louis, her brother, and really herself. she was slightly to blame for stirring the pot, which only added more darkness to her nightmares. she brushed it aside, though, the aspect of that. victoire believed it was a good cause. it was a cause she was willing to fight for and obviously lead. she bit her lower lip as they crept the corridor, then jumped as she heard a creaking ahead. "ah!" she squealed in a hushed tone, moving closer toward jay. she quickly regained her composure and gulped, then moved away from him and kept going. it wasn't as though they'd get caught, right? teddy had a huge grin on his face as he stood in the corridor opposite the kitchens, waiting for jayson and victoire to arrive. his friend had come up with a flawless prank, one that would have victoire freaking out for at least a good ten minutes, depending on how long he and jay could keep it up without cracking. it was going to be difficult to refrain from laughing as he lectured them for sneaking out in the night. but if he even smiled, the entire plan would be destroyed. the headmaster would never grin after finding students out of bed, he was rather strict. sometimes, teddy wished that minerva was still around. she had been the headmistress until he was in his third year, and then she retired. he had liked her, she was friends with harry and came to visit occasionally. plus, she knew how to take a joke.
after talking to jayson in the common room earlier today, teddy had gone straight to the boys dorms to make himself look ill. he used his ability to look pale, and did a few more tricks that always worked when one was faking sick. one could say he had quite a bit of experience in that section of life, because he was constantly trying to get out of classes. professors unfortunately knew not to trust him. but he had doubted that victoire would think he was faking, because what reason would he had to fake sick now? it wasn't like he had any classes today. and he had been right. the sixth year bought it without any suspicion, and now their plan was on the go. teddy just hoped jayson and victoire arrived before some professor saw him disguised as the headmaster and tried to strike up conversation.
once more, teddy focused, making sure his appearance was flawless. they would be arriving soon. he strained his ears to listen for footsteps, and peered around the corner, looking for them. they would most likely be using the lumos charm for light. while most students crept around nervously in the dark when they were sneaking out of bed, he and jayson were rather confident that they wouldn't get caught. plus, neither of them really cared about getting one more detention. they always had enough of them to keep them busy anyway.
when he heard footsteps coming down the hall, he hoped it was them. he had no way of knowing until he walked around the corner and spoke to them, so he was just going to have to hope. "alright. lets do this." he whispered to himself, and turned the corner. standing towards the end of the corridor were two figures, and one was obviously victoire. she was shining in the light from jayson's wand. "What do you think you two are doing?" he asked, trying to change his voice to the headmasters as best he could. [/blockquote]

Of course Jay felt bad hearing about Vic having a headache, he knew she seemed to be getting them frequently this year, although he wasn’t sure if she hid the extent of them. He’d told her before to go to the Healer and get something for it, but seems like she hadn’t done that today. ”Remind me to kiss it better when we get to the kitchens,” he teased, flashing the light up to his face and winking playfully at her, ”I’ve been told my kisses are magical.” He really was that cocky to think that his kisses were something special, but he would never actually make a move on her, or atleast he wasn’t going to be mustering up the courage anytime soon. He really was not use to feeling shy about anything, although it might be more of a fear for their friendship being ruined.
As they ventured through the corridors and down the stairs, his anticipation began to build. Finally they were nearing the hall way to the kitchens, he had to hold back his grin, about to piss his pants with excitement. Of course, he was far too excited, it probably wouldn’t be that amazing of a prank, but any prank, even the lame ones, excited Jayson in this way. When she squealed and moved close to him, he did grin for a minute, which was silly seeing as he’d hugged her millions of times in the past and this time she didn’t even touch him. Although, he was disappointed when she moved away again, that is until he heard a voice, forcing him to hold back a happy laugh and grin.
Seeing the headmaster ahead, Jayson racked his brain, what sort of answer would he give in a normal situation? His mind was blanking at the moment, but he stood up confidently, before shoving Victoire in front of him. ”I was doing rounds and found her,” he offered up, shinning the light right on her, glad that he was a prefect. Of course, he would never throw her under the bus in a real situation, but this would end with no one in trouble. Normally Jay would be more of a smartass and straight up admit to his bad behavior, but he figured tossing Vic at him would make for a more amusing reaction from her.

falling in love , but it's falling apart. i need to find my way back to the start. at some point during their adventure to the kitchen, victoire became so nervous that she was trying to ignore jay's comments. she felt her hands shaking nervously, watching the light that protruded from her wand shake against the shadows. her face was tortured by fear, though she tried to keep it hidden. she was sure jayson could see through her facade, noting the intensity upon her features. she never really liked sneaking about in the night, especially since she had recently come to fear the dark. ever since her headaches were thrust upon her in upheaval, a fear of darkness seemed to overshadow the light in her heart. she wasn't becoming bad or anything like that, but she did begin to think the worst of things when the sun went down.
it seemed they were in the clear. at least, that was what she thought. just after they turned the corner toward the kitchens, the headmaster was standing before them. his dark eyes pulled on her traces of thought, leaving her speechless. "professor! i-i can expl-"
she stammered. her words were cut short when she felt jay push her forward, then do the most incredible thing she'd ever seen, or heard, him do. ”I was doing rounds and found her."victoire's jaw dropped at his sentence. she turned around and stared at him, wide-eyed. her cheeks flushed brightly and her eyes began to water. she turned around and bit the inside of her cheek, trying not to cry. she had never felt so humiliated before. "headmaster, i was j-just getting s-something to eat," she confessed, her words feeling jumbled and unreal in her head. it felt like she was dreaming, like this would hardly happen in real life. it was a nightmare. victoire dabbed at the corner of her eye and looked up at the headmaster, furious with jayson. how the bloody hell could he do that to her? teddy was attempting to hold b ack his grin and keep the menacing face of the headmaster still. he was glaring at the two students, waiting for their explanations of why they were out so late. or at least, that was what he looked like he was doing. really, he was completely mesmerized in victoire's reaction, watching her carefully from the corner of his eye, so she wouldn't be able to tell he was staring at her. her expression changed from surprise to horror in the span of a few seconds, and he could tell her mind was racing, trying to find a way to explain exactly what they were doing out there. she stuttered, a sign that she was extremely nervous, and it took almost all of his willpower not to comment on how absolutely adorable she was when she was like that.
teddy wanted to snort when jayson spoke up, but of course held it back and kept the stern appearance he needed to keep victoire convinced that it really was the headmaster. he had been wondering how jay was going to pin this on victoire, because the prank wouldn't be nearly as effective if he was yelling at both of them, rather than just victoire. "good job mr abercrombie." he said, in that odd deep voice. he really hoped he sounded alright, because he had never been too great with voice imitation. he wasn't exactly the greatest actor. quidditch was his strong suit.
victoire looked like she was about to cry, and for a moment teddy considered ending the prank there. but it had been so long since he and jayson had done something like this together, and his friend would be disappointed if all their planning ended here. this prank would never work on their friend again, she would always be suspicious when they asked her to sneak out and it was only jayson. she wouldn't fall for it a second time.
teddy stared intensely at victoire, waiting for her reaction to being sold out by jayson. "well, miss weasley, you should know by now that the kitchens are off-limits to students after hours. as is everything else." he replied, trying to think of something that would add to the prank. hadn't victoire said that she thought she was in the running for head girl next year? could he use that? "i suppose we will have to rethink our decision to have you as a head girl candidate. sneaking out after hours is a rather large offense. in fact, i believe detention is in order." hopefully, this wasn't too unbelievable. the headmaster was known for being strict. lets just hope victoire believed that he was this strict. Victoire looked like she was going to burst into tears, and he knew she probably hated him right at this moment. He felt a twinge of guilt in his chest, he definitely didn’t want to see her cry, he hated when girls cried and especially when she cried. Jay tried hard to keep his face passive though, choosing to look at Teddy as the headmaster, which cheered him up a bit because he looked so damn perfect. He had to hold back his laugh when Teddy continued to try and speak, he knew his friend always struggled with that part, but he was doing rather good this time.
Detention was nothing to Jayson or to Teddy, but he knew Victoire would be upset at the thought of being tossed into detention. Their headmaster would settle for that though, he tended to toss detentions out more so than house points. The only problem now was that he had no idea what to do, other than hold himself back from hugging Toire, she’d probably shove him away anyway. That was going to hurt, but he’d had her mad at him in the past over a prank, she always got over it…eventually.
Jayson knew the anger couldn’t last long, he and Teddy were far to lovable and she would always cave when they cheered her up and apologized afterward. Of course, it would always happen all over again, but somehow she still managed to trust them. In a way it made him feel bad, abusing their friends trust, but it was innocent jokes, he’d never abuse it in a serious situation.
Reaching up to run a hand through his hair, he braved a chance of looking at Victoire once again, biting on the inside of his cheek to hold back any comments. He knew the second a tear fell, he would blow the whole thing, he just never could handle a girl crying. There was something about how helpless and sad they were, girl’s were like little baby deer and though he would never admit it to anyone, he had watched Bambi millions of times as a child. That’s what girls crying made him think of, poor Bambi all alone. Unconsciously he moved a little closer to her, but quickly averted his attention back to his other best friend, ignoring the pain in his chest now and focusing on the amusement that it would bring afterward. There was also satisfaction every time they successfully pulled on over on her, she was rather hard to trick at times.

falling in love , but it's falling apart. i need to find my way back to the start. her hair now felt sticky, her body heated. toire felt the need to just runaway, but of course she couldn't. she had to face the situation before her. vic bit her lower lip as she stared at the headmaster, then lowered her head. "i-i know headmaster. i-i'm sorry,"
she replied. she knew that everything was offlimits after dark. it wasn't as though she didn't realize that. however, she would have done anything for her friends. jayson had asked her to come with him, and so she did. now she was paying for it, of course. did that mean he really wasn't her friend? victoire found it hard to imagine that he'd been pretending to be her friend the whole time. however, why would he have set her up like that? he just threw her under the bus and didn't even care. he only cared about himself. toire felt like collapsing into tears, but she remained strong. she didn't want jayson, the headmaster, or anyone else for that matter, see her disappointed state. she was hurt, more than anything. at that point, she'd take the detention and be on her way. but the fact that jay actually didn't care about her hurt worse. she wished teddy could be there. when the headmaster spoke again, she started coughing. she clutched her throat and felt her eyes stinging. "wha-what! head girl? no! no, please! please don't reconsider, i'm sorry!" she called out, practically begging. she lowered her voice and buried her head in her hands, trying to keep calm. she blinked back her tears then closed her eyes, engulfed in darkness. she breathed hard, then lifted her face and stared up at the headmaster. "i-i'll take the detention," she said, then sighed. "b-but please don't reconsider me as a candidate. it w-would devastate me," she said softly, her eyes sore from trying not to cry. her lips were dry and she felt her skin go cold, contrasted to how she felt just moments ago. she felt like her heart was beginning to break. she'd never gotten in trouble before. that was hard enough to deal with, but she had more issues than that. her best friend was a traitor. teddy wondered how victoire was going to react when she found out they had pulled a prank on her. he hoped she didn't go stomping up to the common room and go to bed, because it had been quite a long time since the three of them had hung out together. coming back to school from the summer was busy, and they all seemed to be going in different directions. the last time all three of them had hung out was at the summer party at the potter house, and there had been quite a few other people there. it would be nice to go to the kitchens, get the house elves to make them something to eat and just talk. just them three. like it had been since their second year. she would probably be really angry though, at jay for "abandoning" her to the principal, and at him for acting the principals part. maybe this hadn't been such a good idea. he hoped she wouldn't freak out.
teddy knew he had gone too far the moment he said the thing about the head girl. victoire's eyes flew open, and she coughed. her voice sounded horrible, like she was super close to tears, and there was a pleading in it. she was begging him not to rethink her as a candidate. she wanted it so much.
teddy glanced at jay, silently trying to tell him with his eyes that he was going to end it. but how? he could just turn into himself, but that was a sort of lame way to end the prank. maybe he could say something, something funny that would obviously never come out of the headmaster's mouth. victoire was a smart girl, and she would automatically realize the headmaster was an imposter. and since teddy wasn't there, and he has the ability to change his appearance at will, she would put the pieces together and realize it was him. but what could he say, that would be odd enough to get her to make the connection? hopefully jayson wouldn't be angry with him for ending the prank so soon. teddy just couldn't handle the fact that toire was so close to tears. if he made her cry, he would never forgive himself.
victoire looked awful. if this had been real, it would have been the first time she had ever gotten detention. jay and teddy had been in multiple times for a variety of things, but she had never taken any part in it. it seemed that when she was breaking the rules with them, she never got caught. she just had that luck. "detention it is. monday night, 8pm sharp. bring a sponge. i will be needing a foot massage and a sponge bath." he almost shuddered at the thought of having to give the headmaster a sponge bath. that would be horrid.

Jayson didn’t have to look at Victoire, hearing her begin to plead for the position broke his heart, it reminded him when she had pleaded for her brother, although she had been far more upset at that point. It didn’t matter though, hearing her voice, she sounded like she was breaking, and he almost gave a sigh of relief when he realized Teddy was thinking the same thing as him. The sponge bath comment brought a little amusement, but he still couldn’t get over how upset she had gotten, they hadn’t planned for her to be so sad and hurt. Honestly, in his head this had gone a lot better and was actually amusing, versus this disaster. It would be amusing, except for the fact that she sounded so hurt and upset, it hurt him, he honestly felt a pain in his chest each time he looked at her tear filled eyes.
Not giving her much of a chance to think over Teddy‘s comment, he figured he should help out a little, plus it was fun to attempt and lighten the mood with some humor in this prank gone wrong. Keeping a straight face, he stepped up next to the Teddy, turning so he was also facing Toire. ”Don’t worry, it’s not so bad, I’ve giving him many sponge baths,” he commented, moving to run his hand up and down his best friends back. Except, to anyone watching he was rubbing the back of the headmaster, which must look awkward. ”He gets a little grabby though,” he whispered, leaning toward her as if her were giving her a secret warning. There was no way she wouldn’t realize what was going on now, because Jayson clearly did not give the headmaster sponge baths, and the headmaster would never request one.
Actually, the thought of such things was lightening his mood a bit, he almost laughed now. Then he looked at her, and winced, prepared for her to flip out on him. He was certain she would be more upset with him, she had sounded hurt by what he had done, but he hoped she realized he would never ever do that to her. Truth was he would always take the blame, deal with any punishments so she didn’t have to, including giving the headmaster a sponge bath, which thank god would never happen. Jayson gave Victoire a pout, dropping his hand form Teddy’s back, not moving toward her because he knew she was about to get really mad.

falling in love , but it's falling apart. i need to find my way back to the start. "detention it is. monday night. 8 pm sharp." she prepared herself, nodding. but then, words came that made her raise an eyebrow.
"bring a sponge. i will be needing a foot massage and a sponge bath."
victoire's mouth dropped open. he was kidding, right? or...was he, really he? toire looked to jayson who began talking and she narrowed her eyes at his words.
”Don’t worry, it’s not so bad, I’ve giving him many sponge baths. He gets a little grabby though."
she began looking back and forth between them, putting the pieces together. "r-really guys? REALLY!?"
she asked then shook her head. she bit her lower lip and turned from them, crossing her arms over her chest. how could they do that to her? toire was so mad she wanted to scream, but couldn't. they were, after all, in the hallway at a late hour. if they didn't hurry into the kitchens and duck out of sight, it was likely they really would be caught by the headmaster. "just...just follow me," she said harshly, annoyed. victoire pushed past them and entered the kitchens, knowing they'd follow. she settled into a chair and then crossed her legs and arms, waiting on them. toire knew one of the house-elves was bound to come ask them if they needed anything. they were always generous like that. still, she didn't know if she wanted anything at that point. she was just so..so angry. they completely broke her, and embarrassed her. they knew she hardly ever let her feelings show, and they just got an encore. she bit her lower lip and shook her foot, waiting until she could yell at them properly. this prank had sounded like such a good idea back when he and jay had put it together in the common room. and it had been perfectly executed. teddy had managed to look sick enough for victoire to believe it, and jay had been able to convince her to come down to the kitchens with them. then, he had managed to pull off an impression of the headmaster that victoire bought; everything had happened exactly the way they had planned it. except for one thing, victoire's reaction. teddy hadn't expected her to get so close to tears. he felt awful about it. how did something that seemed like being such a good idea turn into such a mistake?
teddy didn't care if he broke character now that they were ruining the prank, so he snorted when jayson mentioned that he had given the headmaster plenty of sponge baths. then, he actually pictured the imagine in his head, which he had learned from experience, was not a good idea. he winced, losing focus on the headmaster's image and slowly fell back into his own. he felt a lot more comfortable in his own body, and he let out a slight sigh of relief once he had fully let go of the crazy straight posture the man had. "gotcha?" he tried, raising his hand in a slightly shrugging manner. he hoped she wouldn't be too angry with them.
his hopes were not answered. he sighed when victoire turned her back on them, glancing at jay and mouthing "oh shit." when victoire got mad, she tended not to forgive them until they made it up to her somehow. and currently, his mind was absolutely blank. usually he would just give her a few hours to calm down and then apologize. but this time, they were going to the kitchens together, which would be a lot more pleasant if victoire would speak to them. he followed the blonde into the kitchen, trying to think of what to say to attempt to solve the problem.
teddy sat in the chair to victoire's left, leaving the one on the right open for jay. they were going to need to turn on the charm that had the girls falling all over them and the persuasion that got them out of detentions, but they would have to be sincere about it. victoire knew when they were lying, and she wasn't going to take anything less than the best apology. "well...look on the bright side. you weren't actually caught by the headmaster!" he said, a horrible attempt to lighten her mood. he gave her a smile, taking a piece of her hair and twirling it in his fingers. crap, he was horrible at apologies.

Jayson watched Victoire head into the kitchens, cringing in thought of how badly she was going to yell at them. He watched Teddy mouth to him, before following behind their now angry best friend. With a small sigh, he followed after them, taking the empty sit next to her and watching Teddy attempt to butter her up. He was certain that he would have it worse, because what he had done had hurt her when she though he’d truly backstab her, that would take longer for her to get over than the actual prank itself. He refused to let himself worry about it, things would work out, he hated stressing out over things. Actually until recently he’d never worried much about anything, he was a very relaxed and go with the flow type of person. His biggest problem was the girl sitting next to him and she didn’t even know.
At Teddy’s comment he snorted, shaking his head at his friends terrible attempts to ease her anger. ”You know we didn’t mean to upset you,” he said, giving her wide sad eyes and a small pout, the comment was completely true, they had not intentions of upsetting her so much. Of course, he was the one to upset her first by giving her up to the headmaster, but then he tossed in the head girl thing, so maybe they were even. While he hated her being upset with him, he hated her yelling at him even more, which was why he sort of wanted to run back to the dorms and let her sleep through the night in hopes of cooling her off. Although, they never got together with all three of them anymore, but it would be no fun with Toire angry at them.
”You know what helps headaches? Hot chocolate,” he said, shooting her a hopeful grin, remembering that she had said her head was hurting her tonight. Jayson reached over, rubbing her back gently, she seemed antsy and tense, then again she was very upset with them. He figured she’d either shoot him a death glare till he removed his hand, or shove him away. Regardless, he was attempting to make it up to her and held her feel better.
