Mason always found the oddest places to relax, but that was because they were always the quietest. Anywhere that he could find peace away from the annoying people of the school, he was happy. This was why he was currently sitting on one of the benches in the first floor corridor, book in hand and back resting against the wall. It was his free period, and with classes going on the corridors were mostly quiet, especially this one since there nothing exciting on this floor other than the classes. This made for little interruptions, most people who walked by just ignored him, it worked out well in his favor.
Flipping the page, he continued reading, enjoying one of his rare quiet moments. Mace didn’t understand why everyone in this school had to be so loud and obnoxious, he had yet to find anyone he didn’t hate to be around. He was probably going to spend his life by himself, but it wasn’t his fault that everyone else around him were idiots. Just thinking about it could give him a headache, which was why he attempted to focus on his book once again, letting his thoughts focus on theories of new potions.

Olivia woke up feeling very well rested; It was weird only because she went to sleep so late. She stretched her arms over her head and turned to her side trying to figure out what time it was. She gasped, she was late for class, not to mention the fact that she had slept through some of them. She flung the blanket off of her and got her robes on the fastest she ever had before. She grabbed her stuff and flew down to the common room, it was deserted of course. She ran out of the portrait hole and took off at a run to her class. As she was running she was brushing her hair with her fingers, she figured she must look ghastly at the moment; she held on tight to her books as she straitened up her robes. She could feel her temper rising, how could she have slept so long and nobody thought to wake her? This was exactly why she hated half the people in her house.
She was coming down the hallway to her class, more of a jog then at a run. She was almost there when her book flew from her hand and landed under the nearest bench, she sighed wanting to punch and wall and started crawling towards it. While she was dragging it out she noticed a boy was sitting on it, she looked at him curiously and sat back on her heels. He was in Slytherin, he looked pissed at the world. "Oh, Hello" she said hesitantly, she was not sure how to approach him but she felt as though she must say something. He looked kind of dorky but in a cute way, his hair all floppy and the look of disgust forever on his face. She felt a pain in her ankle and she sat down cross legged in front of him looking up at him.

Mason was content with his reading, that is until he heard loud footsteps, as if someone was running. Curiously he looked up from his book, just in time to see someone else’s book slide under the bench he was occupying. A second later he watched a girl crawl over, pull out the book, and finally notice him. Raising an eyebrow, he saw the girl sit down as she greeted him, which he found rather odd. ”Do you always crawl around the dirty floors?” was his only response, although he was the slightest bit amused by the show. Clearly this girl was a mess, her hair was a puff ball and her robes were disheveled, he had no idea how some people had no grace what so ever.
In a way, he felt the urge to help her a bit, seeing as she looked so pathetic sitting on the floor by his feet, hair and clothing a mess. ”Is there something wrong with you?” he asked curiously, of course with his rather bored tone and usual lack of emotional expression, one could take it as him calling them slow or another offensive word. Honestly, he was asking simply because she seemed ruffled, but if it was taken the other way he wouldn’t really mind, maybe there was something mentally wrong with her, she had looked a bit crazy running down the hall and crawling across the floor.
”You should probably get up now, maybe attempt to straighten yourself out,” Mace suggested, closing his book and setting it onto the bench next to him. Of course he was a smart guy, he figured she was probably just late for a class, although she looked as if she had just rolled out of bed, you’d think people would know how to use alarms. ”I’d also just skip, you’ll only end up with detention for walking in halfway through. Go to the infirmary and say you have a terrible headach, it will give you a pass for whatever you missed,” Normally he wasn’t one to give advice to people, unless it was sarcastic, but he still thought she looked rather pathetic, sort of like a little kid. In a way, she reminded him of the little girl he had meant as a child, the one he refused to ever think of, it caused a pain in his chest and was probably the cause of his attempts to help, even if he was still far from polite.

Olivia was already mad and now she ran into this rude boy, well she would just not stand for it. She was now very upset, she screwed up her hands, "Well Mr. Sunshine, maybe I do, maybe I think it to be fun." She put her hands on her hips, this was not the best time to provoke Olivia, Slytherin or not she did not care. She could tell he was quite a bit older than she but she did not care about that either; the only thing she cared about was how rude she was being, she could play that game too. She gasped slightly her mouth open with a how dare you look on her face, "Is there...is ther...NO there is not, but obviously there is something wrong with you! Did anyone ever teach you manners? I'll answer for you NO they did not!" she said as she stomped her foot with a little hmph!. She closed her eyes and counted to ten, she was over reacting just a bit, but she didn't care much because he was not helping her day in the slightest.
She then realized that she still looked a complete mess. She turned around as she conjured up a comb and started to comb out her rats nest of hair, which was extremely painful. She pocketed her comb after that and pull around on her robes to make sure that they where straight and nice looking as she usually would if she was not late. She finally then, brushed the rest of the dirt off of her and felt slightly better. hoping that he would take the rudeness to a minimum. She laughed at herself remembering he was in Slytherin and that would never happen even in her most wildest dreams. "How's that for you?" She asked him knowing fully well that a rude come back was about to be said, she would simply brush it off like it was nothing.
She picked up his book that was next to him on the bench and threw it on to his lap as she sat down, "Yes I suppose you are right." she said with a sigh, though she had no intention of faking a headache at all. She thought it weird that he, being a Slytherin and all, just tried to help her. She turned and looked him up and down again from a closer view, his slim face had the same look of hate on it, she shuddered. She tried to think of something smart and wise to say, nothing came to mind so she just sat and waited for him to say something.

Mason noted her annoyance with him, watching her stand up and put her hand on her waist, something girls seemed to do when they were getting an attitude. Truthfully, he’d been rather nice to her compared to anyone else who would have embarrassed themselves so badly in front of him. He couldn’t help that there was something strange about her, especially when she got rather angry with his question. Raising an eyebrow, he had manners, he just didn’t bother to use them with this crowd at school, they all seemed to lack them. ”You were the one rolling around the floor, talk about lack of manners,” he pointed out with a small shrug of his shoulder.
When she turned and made attempts on her disheveled appearance, he glanced down on his book, debating whether he should ignore her and return to it or not, then she turned around and addressed him. ”Average looking,” he commented, which was good, seeing as before she had been a disaster. Now she blended in with every other girl at the school, although atleast she didn’t cake on ten pounds of make up, although if she had been on time she might have he wasn’t sure.
Easily he caught his book, setting it down on the small empty space on his other side. Curiously, he watched her admit he was right, after just yelling at him and throwing a small hissy fit. Mace found it odd that she could go from such anger to sitting next to him, which he hadn’t offered her the spot. ”I thought I said something about leaving here and seeing a healer?” he asked with sarcasm, attempting to shoo her away in a ‘polite’ manner, or atleast to him it was. ”I thought I was rude and had no manners, so don’t you want to get away?” he added, watching her with interest, she could possibly be bi-polar, she seemed to switch her mood rather easily. The fact that she took a seat next to him and didn’t seem as though she were trying to annoy him, made him curious about her. Most people tried to make him angry or simply left.
