Danica couldn’t believe what was happening to her. Even though it had been almost a complete day since she had found out what was wrong with her, it still shocked her, it scared her. It took a lot to scare Danica Greyback. This thing that had caused her to leave her common room in the middle of the night was something Danica couldn’t imagine. This thing was a baby, Danica was pregnant. The revelation had come earlier in the morning of the day. Danica had felt sick to her stomach, and ill. She hadn’t thought much of it till she threw up. At that point, and realizing she was five days late, was when she took the pregnancy test. She always had a few on her, with her sleeping habits, she never could be too careful. After taking three separate tests and they all had come up positive, her heart had sunk. She was pregnant. She knew immediately who the father was. Phoenix Lestrange. Unlike usual, she hadn’t slept with hardly any guys, she was actually attempting to work, the only guy she had slept with was Phoenix. He was the only option.
Danica had written him a letter and had sent it to him by owl after some debate. She wasn’t keeping the child, she wasn’t. She had grown up without a mother, and never wanted to be one herself. Plus, the thought of having children scared her out of her mind. Losing the child would be the best option in her mind. It would cause her unneeded stress in the near future anyway. Plus, she knew that if she had the child, she wouldn’t be able to give it up. She would have seen her child, her baby. Not some random strangers, it would be hers. It would be to complicated to be a mother, and Danica didn’t like things not going her way.
In the owl, Danica had told Phoenix they needed to talk, and to meet her by the Black Lake at midnight. She had left the note itself as vague as possible, not wanting him to freak out. There was a reason she wanted to tell him alone. It didn’t involve anyone else except them, and why tell anyone else seeing as she was getting rid of the little thing as soon as possible? She had sent it in the morning, so he would get it as soon as possible. During that day, Danica had avoided Phoenix the best she could without making it obvious she was avoiding him. She was still in a daze, a confusion, she couldn’t be pregnant, but she knew in her heart she was.
After a full day of ignoring Phoenix, she had prepared all night what to say and what to do. What should I say, she thought as she had sat in her common room. How to explain to Phoenix that she was pregnant, but she wanted nothing from him, that she was getting rid of the thing before it could ruin both of their lives? She wasn’t entirely sure how she would tell him but she waited patiently in the dark for everyone in her sleeping quarters to fall asleep to sneak outside. Why was she sneaking out of her common room, when the man she needed to talk to was in the same common room? She wasn’t sure how Phoenix would take the news, and she didn’t feel that whispering would do for the situation. She made her way to the Black Lake, standing a few feet from the edge. She looked into the darkness of it, it had always captivated her attention since her first day she’d seen it. She let out a sigh, hoping Phoenix would show up soon. She heard a slight noise. She asked questionably, her wand in hand in case someone else was there, “Phoenix?”.

phoenix was not a daytime person at all. the sun bothered him, it was too bright on his eyes and it was still too hot even though it was already september. that was why he didn't have any early morning classes, because the teachers had learned that he wouldn't show up if the class was before noon. at the end of last year, he had had a few morning classes when he first began at hogwarts, and he had shown up for maybe one or two of the charms classes, none of the history of magic. so they allowed him to be in the later classes, so he would have his mornings to sleep, rather than expel him like they would a normal student. because apparently, phoenix lestrange was "brillant". maybe it had something to do with the fact that he had already passed these classes, and almost taken over the world with his powers. he was careful though, not to show exactly how much he knew. didn't want to get caught, after all.
but anyway, he wasn't a morning person. so he was pretty pissed when an irritating owl started pecking at the glass of the window in the slytherin seventh year dorms around nine o'clock in the morning. in fact, he had left the poor owl waiting for close to an hour before rolling out of bed and snatching the letter before it even had a chance to come in and get a break. then he shooed it away, and went back to sleep without even glancing at the parchment in his hand. he would read it later, when he was actually awake.
his dreams were full of darkness. snakes, and wars, and murder and taking over the world. there were a lot of memories from his past life that bled into his dreams. it was horrible, because he wasn't tom riddle anymore, but his mind still thought he was. remembering all the spells was a good thing about keeping his memory. having to relive his own death was the bad part. they were pretty evenly matched really. maybe there was a way to get rid of his voldemort memories so he could truly become phoenix lestrange but keep the power from the past life. he would have to do some research.
eventually, after reliving his death for what felt like the millionth time, he awoke and got himself dressed. he had slept through his afternoon classes, in fact, it was already starting to darken outside. damn, he had slept awhile. his mind wandered back to the letter, and he wondered who could possibly be bothering him. if it was marsallia, he was going to kill that woman...man...thing. the reincarnation of salazar needed to realize that he wasn't the one in charge anymore. that had ended when he got reincarnated in a female body. now, it was all phoenix.
phoenix opened the letter, skimming it rather than reading every word. it was from danica, a fairly loyal member of the wicked wands. she wasn't anything special, although she was pretty nice to look at. his teenage hormones had gone wild over her, which had resulted in another one night stand. it certainly hadn't been the first since he returned. it had been quite awhile since he had fucked anyone. merlin knows how many years it had been as lord voldemort without sex.
eventually, night time fell and phoenix made his way out to the lake. the air was cool, and the darkness comforted him. it was like he was arriving home after being away from it for awhile. there was a silhouette of a girl by the lake, her blonde hair gleaming in the light from the moon. he pushed the thoughts of how she had looked without her clothes from his mind, and approached her. it was getting harder and harder to act like the dark lord with all these teenage thoughts. he couldn't wait until he was out of that stage. "yeah." he replied, bored in tone. why had she called him out here? he had considered not showing up, but she was one of the more loyal wicked wands. not to mention, the teenage part of him was hoping she was coming back for more.

Danica turned around to see Phoenix Lestrange standing there. Who else would have been there, she thought to herself. No one else would have reason to be out there, no one. She kept her expression emotionless, hearing his voice. The tone wasn’t one of anger, that was a good sign and a good start, she thought. She looked at him, not able to get the thought of how good looking he was. Damn hormones she thought as she stood there. She could see why she had slept with him in the first place, next to the fact that he was one of the few that she hadn’t slept with that were pureblooded and male.
She placed her right hand on her hip, sighing before saying “Sorry for making you come out here Phoenix, I hate to disturb you, but I need to tell you this now.” She said sincerely. Had Danica been talking to almost anyone else, she wouldn’t have meant it. She hardly meant any apologies or thanks she gave. But this moment, she was truly sincere. It was an odd feeling for her, being sincere. Like it wasn’t the right response, but Danica kept these feelings down the best she could. She had not considered how unconvient the whole arrangement might have been, and how annoying her little owl mght have been trying to deliver the letter so early in the morning. She hadn’t considered it till that moment. She appreciated him coming out, it meant a lot to her. This was important, even if she didn’t want to admit it herself.
Danica stood lost in thought for a moment, though her face was a composed blank stare. How was she supposed to explain that she was pregnant? That the baby was none other than his own? She had so many questions flying through her mind in the few seconds she stood there. She considered just telling him she was pregnant and walking off. It seemed a hell of a lot easier then standing there in the awkward silence, even if it was only for a few moments. There were so many approaches to saying the few words she needed to, she could ramble on and drop it like a bombshell and see if he noticed, or saying that she was getting an abortion.
So many options flew through her head but none of them seemed to work for her. She said taking a breath before hand “Phoenix, I’m pregnant.”. It took her a few seconds before she could continue. This was harder than she thought it would be. “The baby’s yours Phoenix, but don’t worry, I don’t need or want anything from you, I just wanted you to have knowledge. I thought I’d let you know before I aborted the pregnancy, I think owed you that courtesy.” . After this she shook her head a moment before looking back to Phoenix, wondering how he was going to react, what was he going to say, or do for that matter.
Danica didn’t want children, and she didn’t think Phoenix would mind. But she wanted to warn him ahead of time, just so he could at least know. If had been refused, she sure as hell would want to know before the abortion took place. She said emotionlessly “That’s why I sent you the owl and drug you out here in the middle of the night.”. She placed her arms crossed across her chest, counting the seconds as they passed by, the breathes she was taking. Anything to get her mind of the conversation she found herself having. Danica Greyback wasn’t a coward, but at that moment, she just wanted to hide her head and disappear. But she stood her ground, there was no going back anymore. Not at all, not then at least.

phoenix was trying to come up with other reasons danica may have called him out here for. but the only one that came into his mind was that she was back for more. he wouldn't blame her, he was pretty damn sexy. he had been attractive back in his teenage years as tom riddle too, but that had been a different time. students at hogwarts didn't have sex as freely as they did now. back then, it would be a surprise to hear of one couple in a year. now, it was surprising if no one in slytherin got laid in a weekend. slytherin girls were all over the map, doing pretty much whoever they could get their hands on. phoenix wasn't like that, he had some class. he went for only the prettiest, high rated girls. most of the time, they were pureblood. danica, with her half werewolf blood, had been an exception for two reasons. one, the girl was fucking sexy and only an idea wouldn't want to have sex with her. two, she was very loyal to the wicked wands, one of the ones who seemed genuinely useful to him. in a way, she reminded him of a less insane, younger and more gorgeous bellatrix lestrange. except she wasn't nearly as creepy.
but danica probably hadn't written that letter asking him to come out here so they could have sex. the setting just didn't make sense. usually, people stuck to the dorms, or an empty classroom, sometimes an empty dungeon. more romantic couples would go to the room of requirement, and ones who just didn't give a damn would get it on in the common room on a couch, where anyone could walk in. the lake was not exactly a good place to get laid, the ground was wet, and it was fairly cool outside for the beginning of september. if she had wanted to have sex, she would have brought him somewhere indoors. so, he wasn't getting laid tonight.
phoenix didn't mind getting called outside. he usually spent the night outdoors anyway, walking along the grounds. usually he spent most of the night in the forest, where the wandering prefects and teachers would not go looking for students out of bed. they assumed their students would stay out of the forest at night, and mostly they were right. he wasn't an ordinary student though, he wasn't afraid of giant spiders or giants, or whatever the latest rumor was about what had made its way into the forest. werewolves, wasn't it? sort of ironic.
phoenix simply raised an eyebrow, the gesture telling the girl to get on with it. maybe she was out here with him to tell him an idea for the wicked wands. no, even though she was a loyal member, that didn't make sense. marsallia would have been here as well, because even though he denied the fact that she was part of the leadership, the members looked at her as a co-leader of the group.
when she finally came out with it, his first impulse was to do what he would have done in his past life. yank out his wand and kill her. but obviously, he couldn't do that. for one, he would definitely get caught and then he was in askaban for life. and if he was going to get a life sentence, it was not going to be for killing someone who was loyal to him. he'd be getting one of the potters, or maybe a weasley. if he was feeling particularly angry, a malfoy for abandoning him. but certainly not the girl in front of him.
"ah." he said, after he had calmed himself enough to speak in the normal monotone he kept on for reputation. what should he do? he could agree with her, get her to abort the pregnancy. that would be best, wouldn't it? or...would keeping the baby be better? he could string danica along while she was pregnant, whisper sweet nothings in her ear, pretend to be supportive. then he could take the baby for his, send it to the lestranges to raise and have a mini dark lord all ready for when his father needed help ruling his world. it could be so perfect. but how would he put it across for her not to abort, without letting her know of his plans but without losing his character. abortions were risky...could he act like he cared about what happened to her, rather than the child? would that be believable?
"maybe you shouldn't abort." is what he settled on. it gave no reasons, nothing. just simply putting the idea in her head that abortion was not the only option. this kid would be his, and in fifteen years or so, it would be powerful.

As Danica waited for a response, she hoped that Phoenix wasn’t angry. She was getting rid of the child anyway. It would be no harm no fowl. No evidence of it would ever affect them again except for a small writing on her medical record, but what did that matter to the girl. She already had marks for being half werewolf, so what would a few more hurt. When Danica heard his response she wasn’t sure if it was a good sign or a bad one. He seemed calm, but she knew people could go from calm too angry in a second. She didn’t want any fights between them. Everything would be fine once she got rid of the baby. They could go back to normal, nothing ever happened. But what he said next did her in. She lost all those thoughts in her head the instant she heard what he said.
Danica was known for her strong poker face, not letting emotions break through the strong bearer. A very useful tool for her, and she chose to use it on most occasions, but she couldn’t help but let a look of surprise cover her face when she heard what he said. What did he mean, maybe you shouldn’t abort? Well of course she knew what he meant she thought. He meant that there were other options, such as adoption or even keeping it.
She quickly calmed herself, trying to mask her emotions once more. She took a breath to calm herself. Did he want to keep the baby? That thought had never crossed her mind ever since she had found out she was pregnant in the first place.
She had guessed from the beginning that Phoenix wouldn’t want to be a father, or even care for the kid. He didn’t seem like the type who wanted to raise a child, take care of one. Also, he didn’t strike her as the honorable fatherly type. He seemed more of the leader type, which in essence he was coleader of the wicked wands. She didn’t think he’d have time to mess with a small child, and she knew herself that she didn’t want a child. She was only seventeen, and on top of all that, she wasn’t sure she even wanted children. If she had one, could she take care of it? Could she do anything for the small child growing within her? She thought about the child for a moment, the genetics involved at least.
Danica wasn’t a math genius, far from it, but she knew she could divide. The child would be one-fourth werewolf, and one-fourth wizard on her side. He was… half-Phoenix on its father’s side. Danica wasn’t sure what all came with Phoenix’s DNA and she didn’t feel like asking for the moment. She shook it off. Who cared what the child would be, it wasn’t as if he was half man eating squid or anything.
She was afraid to question him, no matter how stubborn and independent she was she knew Phoenix was higher up than he was. She listened and didn’t question him, in fact, as far as she remembered she’d never questioned him. She placed her hand by instinct on her stomach, only a moment. She couldn’t feel anything, but of course she couldn’t. The child was hardly a week old, body’s weren’t overnight. She sighed and looked to Phoenix “Ok… I won’t abort it.”. She hid her fear of questioning him as well as she could. She breathed calmly, she would have to be a mother now whether she wished to be or not. She wouldn’t anger Phoenix, or any of the members of the wicked wands. The last thing she wanted to do was get killed for not listening to Phoenix, even when it was matters such as this. She was loyal to Phoenix and couldn’t say no. She couldn’t.

there were a few ways phoenix could play this now. he had to think, which option would be best for him to get that child. either he could play father, and treat her good like the boring hufflepuffs treated their girlfriends and pretend to actually want a child, he could pretend he cares about her and didn't want her to get hurt during an abortion, or he could try and figure out another option. why on earth would he tell her not to abort the baby if he didn't want it. he needed a good story, one that would sound absolutely perfect.
if he played loving father boring boyfriend, that would definitely earn him points with danica. she would think he cared about her, and the child, and maybe he would even get laid out of it. but if he played that, he was going to have to be that person all the time. which meant going in front of the school and being all nice and blah. that would ruin his reputation, and he needed that to make sure marsallia didn't get the wicked wands. if they abandoned him, there would be no way he could take over the ministry, let alone the wizarding world. that option was out. all it would do is destroy him. option two was pretty much the same. he needed another plan.
maybe he could somehow take back what he said. did he really need a son to be the dark lord when he himself was still very young. maybe back when he was older that would have been a smart plan, but he was sixteen years old now. he had years and years to take over the world and rule it. was a son needed? no. but the idea buzzed around in his head. it would be nice to have him there, in case phoenix was killed early. he had lost to harry potter because there had been no one skilled enough to take charge once he died. that wouldn't happen again if he had a son.
why could he possibly want to keep the child for a reason that wasn't wuzzy, but danica would accept? was there even such an option?
phoenix was struggling to hide the fact that his brain was whirring with plans from the girl in front of him. he was pretty good at putting on a poker face, but she was going to get suspicious if he didn't speak soon. "good." he replied, giving himself more time to think. she hadn't questioned him now, but sooner or later, she would. then he would need to give a story. it was easier to get it over with now. "because my grandfather always wanted a child. and, he's taking care of me, but i'm a teenager. he didn't really raise me. so if you didn't want the kid, maybe we could just give it to rabastian." it was a good enough plan, one that could sound like it was legitimate. "and even if you did want the kid, rabastian could care for it when we are in school, or working, or whatever..."

Danica wasn’t what you would call stupid. In fact she was intelligent when it came to her decision making, and reading people. But she always struggled trying to read Phoenix. What was he thinking, what was he feeling. His voice in that monotone tone he always kept wasn’t much help either. Phoenix was much like herself when it came to hiding his emotions. He was fortunate to have a very effective poker face, not letting too many things show through. Danica was happy she had the skill at that moment because she was having so many thoughts and emotions running through her at the moment she would be a complete mess.
First feeling she had was she was surprised and plain disbelieve. In her mind abortion had been the only option, the right option. Unless he had a reason he wanted the child, she didn’t see why he would want to be bothered with it. She couldn’t help but wonder what his reasoning would be. It wasn’t out of love, she almost knew that for sure, the child itself had been conceived not out of love, but just for the hell of it. The spur of the moment, not love.
Another feeling she had was fear, she had been told by her father more than once that her mother had been weak and had died having her, though Danica knew she was much stronger than her mother, she couldn’t help but wonder if she would die having the child. She didn’t want to die, but she didn’t fear it. Plus, fears about the child itself arose. If she miscarried the child, she wouldn’t be able to forgive herself, or if the child was still born, or even died. She didn’t think she could hold herself together if she had to bury her child. So many what if’s popped in her head and she couldn’t help but fear afraid. God help me, she thought .
Danica stood silent for a moment, wondering who should speak first, herself or him. She had just given into what he had wanted. He certainly didn’t want the pregnancy to be aborted, he had made that clear. Without a reason, and without emotion. Then when he began to talk she began to think. Rabastian Lestrange, his grandfather. He seemed a good enough person to raise the child. As soon as he brought up her wanting the kid she said “No, Rabastian can raise the child, I don’t want any affiliation with it. I want no connection with this child.”. Her words were cold and emotionless, at that moment she meant every word she’d said. If she even saw the baby, held it, she knew she would never be able to give it up. After a moment of thought she realized how likely the fact was that the child that was growing inside of her was a male. There was almost no doubt in her mind that she would be having a son. She didn’t feel like referring to the baby ‘it’ or ‘the baby’. She would just call it a him.
Danica sighed before continuing “You do understand that he will be one-fourth werewolf, and one-fourth wizard on my side? I’m also positive that it’s a boy, I mean look at my family, three girls out of eight children, not the best odds.”. She took a breath before continuing “If you want to have a relationship with this child, you can. But I’m saying right here and now that I do not want one. I won’t fight for custody of the child; I’ll give it up willingly. The child’s last name will be Lestrange.”.
The last thing she said was more of an afterthought. She said “Also I want nothing to change between us, I’m still you loyal follower nothing more and nothing less. I want to be treated like I’ve been treated, if that is possible.”She knew all she said had been a tad bit foreword but she had meant everything she had said. He couldn’t force her into having a relationship with the child if he wanted to. She found her hand drifting back toward her stomach she knew in her mind that with the child things would change, but for her sake and his own, she hoped it wouldn’t be too drastic.

phoenix knew that her believing his story was probably not going to happen. he wasn't really that great an actor, and the fact that he spoke so tonelessly and kept his face so still and emotionless didn't help him in this situation. danica wasn't a stupid girl, if she was then she would not be as high ranked in the wicked wands as she was. he didn't like stupidity, it was that that usually ruined plans. so he waited for her to call him out on his lie. maybe he should just tell her the true plans. after all, she was on his side. maybe she wouldn't mind her child being like him. obviously she didn't mind him too much, she was his follower and she did have sex with him.
but telling her could potentially threaten him if she ever swayed away from his side. if someone out there knew that he was training his son to be like him, they could find his son and kill him, or take him, or just do something to destroy the plans in general. not to mention the fact that danica followed marsallia too, not just him. if marsallia knew about his secret weapon, that could be bad. because one day, phoenix was going to have to turn on marsallia if he wanted full power, and he needed every advantage he could get on her. it wasn't going to be easy to take her down.
phoenix was extremely surprised when she believed his story, and even more so when she said she didn't want anything to do with her child. didn't most girls go crazy over their children or something? never let them out of their sight, kept them close, loved them more than anything in the world? this was one of the reasons he liked danica. she appeared so be so sweet on the outside, like every other normal girl, but there was something different about her. she was a little like him, cold and emotionless. she was willing to give up her own child to him, the leader of the wicked wands. she was the perfect follower.
"Okay." he replied, nodding slightly. he listened to her description of possibilities for the child. none of it was a problem. he would rather have a male child, it would be easier to corrupt him to kill. the partial werewolf part bothered him a bit, but it was only a fourth. the child would certainly not change, and only grow a little tired around the full moon. "the child will be fine. rabastian doesn't mind one fourth werewolf, not when the kid is three quarters wizard. and a boy would be better, rabastian always wanted a son..."
crap, she thought he wanted something to do with the kid. "i won't have a relationship with it either. the last name is good though." phoenix couldn't let her know he wanted anything to do with the child either. if word got around, he'd lose status.
when she brought up her request to be treated as normally, he nodded. he had no plans of treating her any differently, as he had already gotten when he wanted. he got custody, the child was named lestrange. it would most likely male, it would be a little stronger than average because of the werewolf blood, and it was his. "you are a loyal follower. i won't treat you differently than before." how did he treat her before anyway? they had had sex, and then really didn't communicate since then.

Danica, glanced around for a moment. She didn’t mind being outdoors at night, not at all. It might have been colder but it was much more preferable than a stuffy common room. Also, the moon was out at night. Unlike most werewolves, and partial werewolves she loved the moon. Except during the full moon, she loved it. She smiled weakly looking up at the moon before masking any evidence she had smiled. She thought over the conversation to that point, recapping in her mind. From the moment she had first seen him that night, to that particular moment.
Danica realized after a few moments about how odd Phoenix’s plan had been. His grandfather certainly wouldn’t want to be volunteered to take care of a child, and raise his great grandchild. The story itself seemed to be fishy in her mind. How had she not noticed this when he’d first said this? Danica scolded herself for being so stupid and letting it get past her.
She was suddenly extremely curious as what his real plans were. Suddenly it was almost unbearable; she had the urge to call out his lie. Point it out point blank and demand an explanation. It sounded simple enough, but Danica wasn’t sure how to approach it in the first place. How to bring it into the conversation without just blurting it out. So she decided to wait to speak. Listen to what he had to say first.
The thing that had stopped her from thinking that way in the first place was the thought of keeping her baby, no not hers, the baby. But now that she had made it blatantly clear that she was giving up any relations with the child, she had actually thought about what he had said. Her eyes seemed to widen when she came to the realization but she remained as calm and cool looking as possible.
She was happy that he was fine with her not having a relationship with a child. She knew most people got so attached to the children that they would do anything for it and protect it with their lives. Danica saw this as a weak point in a person, if you got so attached to them. In her eyes it made you a weaker person, it was a weak point for you. She didn’t want to have that happen to her and the child. As cold as she was, she knew that if she had a connection with her child she would only want to be closer and if anything happened to the child she wouldn’t be able to stand it. No, a child would be a weakness to her, or so she thought.
Danica listened to him as he said that Rabastian would want a son and the werewolf blood wouldn’t matter she could have smirked. She knew the werewolf blood mattered, at least a little bit. She wasn’t sure is Rabastian truly would care, if Rabastian was even going to take the child that is. But she knew Phoenix would care, if only a tiny bit. After confirming that their relationship would stay the same Danica said calmly “Good.”. Danica decided that this was the time to bring out his lies. She crossed her arms across her chest and said “Oh and why don’t you tell me why you really want the baby? I doubt your grandfather is your real reason Phoenix. If it is then I must be stupid to think that you would lie to me.”. She asked coldly. If he didn’t give her a straight forward answer she might go insane. She wanted to know the truth. She didn’t appreciate being lied to, even if she did listen to Phoenix. She wanted to know the truth, or what she could believe to be the truth.

rabastian was probably not going to be happy, being forced into caring for a child and raising it as his own. but it was necessary. phoenix couldn't do it himself, he was far too busy. he had plans to make to take over the whole damn world, for god sake. rabastian wouldn't complain or argue anyway. he was still terrified of him, even though he was in this young body. it was quite hilarious, seeing the old man shiver and hearing him stutter when he walked in the room. rabastian was one of the few people left who had seen what he could do. his little hogwarts followers, the wicked wands, hadn't seen anything. he couldn't risk blowing his cover just yet. soon, they would see exactly who they were dealing with. he was going to hunt down the potters, one at a time. starting with albus, the potter who dared call himself a slytherin.
phoenix nodded when she said good. danica believed him. either she wasn't as smart as he thought, or he was a much better actor than he thought. or maybe she really didn't care about the child she would be carrying for nine weeks, and knew he was going to do something with it, but didn't give a damn. or maybe she did care, but was too afraid of him to inquire his real purposes. a smart person would be afraid of him and keep their mouth shut. he hadn't tortured anyone in front of the wicked wands yet, but they could tell he was dangerous. no one was dumb enough to defy him.
but the moment danica crossed her arms, he knew she was going to call him out. and sure enough, she did. it made his blood boil, that she would call herself a loyal follower and then butt into his plans. it seemed like more of a spy move, and after the conspiracy that was severus snape, he wasn't going to tell anyone his plans. too many of his plans had been destroyed by severus snape. danica was not going to become that new crack in the foundation. he wouldn't let her.
"you are stupid to question me." he hissed. really hissed. in fact, it took him a moment to realize that he had switched into parseltongue accidentally, something he had been doing when he got angry since he joined this body. it was most likely because the ability was not supposed to be a part of this body, this mind, so it couldn't control it. "you are stupid to question me." he repeated, this time in english. however, he threw venom into the words, practically spitting the words on her. if only he was still lord voldemort, he could kill her without a second thought.
"loyal follower, my ass." he mumbled under his breath. he had picked up quite a bit of slang since starting at hogwarts. it was lucky, that he picked up on it so fast. sometimes he slipped and said a word that wasn't in the right time, and people questioned him. he had to be careful of every word that slipped from his mouth. each and every word had to be thought out extensively. if he made one slip up in front of the wrong person, it could mean death for him.
phoenix pulled out his wand, a threat. "you see, danica. the way we do things, we don't ask questions. you don't want the child, you said so yourself. so i'm going to take it off your hands. you should be thanking me." if looks could kill, danica would no longer be breathing. "so, i don't think you need to know what my plans are. people who ask questions, well, they usually get hurt. tell me, danica," he stepped forward, so she would hear the next few words, which he whispered under his breath. "have you every felt the cruciatus curse?"

Danica waited patiently for a reply, which she didn’t expect anything grand. At most she expected his plan to be a baby selling scam or something of that nature. Take the baby and sell it to some pureblood family who couldn’t have children. She couldn’t think of too many other ideas that he could possibly have been thinking. But she couldn’t think of all the things that could possibly be done with a child. Especially one that would only be a few moments old whenever it would have been handed over. The worst thing she could thought he’d be able to do was say that he wasn’t going to tell her. Then she would just push it off. It wasn’t worth the trouble. But what she didn’t know was his true plan, she couldn’t have imagined it in her wildest dreams. Oh yes, she would come to regret that question.
The next thing Danica heard was an odd noise. She knew she’d heard it somewhere else. Where would she hear such an odd sound? The only creature she could think of that would make the noise was a snake. A snake! He must be a parseltongue she thought rationally. That would explain why she couldn’t understand what he was saying. But the thought that he would slip out of English into that tongue scared her. The only reason she could see him doing it was if he was angry. He couldn’t be that angry could he she thought for a moment. She was quickly proved wrong when she heard what he was saying in English. She wasn’t sure what shook her up more, when he said it in parseltongue or when it was in English. Even in English his words were filled with venom and it shook her up. She kept a cool face, though she flinched having heard the words. At that moment she realized maybe it would have been a better plan to keep quite. It would have been better for her for sure.
Danica saw the wand and her eyes lit up just as they had when she had realized how unlikely Phoenix’s reasons seemed. Though this time it wasn’t a pleasant surprise, it was one of pure fear and surprise. She knew Phoenix, maybe not all that well, but she did know him. When he was angry, he could be the scariest thing she’d ever seen. Her heart rate began to pick up quickly, causing her to be out of breath. As she stood straight up you would hardly guess the girl was scared out of her wits, unless you looked into the fear in her eyes.
Danica couldn’t keep her face in an emotionless stance any longer. Her jaw dropped, her eyes glued on his wand. That was the most painful and deadly weapon she knew existed, a wand was a lot more powerful than it ever appeared to be. She knew from her father’s stories of muggles who had suffered at the hands of wands, they never ended well. Danica thought to grab for her own wand, but she tensed up. If she grabbed her own it would be a bad idea she decided. Plus, by the time she grabbed it, you never knew what could happen. She raised her eyes only for a moment to meet Phoenix’s gaze, and when she did it made her weak at the knee’s. She took a breath, what had felt like hours to her had only been a few seconds then she heard what he said.
As she stood there, frozen in fear she listened intently as he told her to that they didn’t ask questions. As fear made its way throughout her body with every beat of her heart. She could hear her heartbeat in her ear loud as drums. She’d never been this scared in her entire life, including that very morning. No, being so close to death, and knowing that it wasn’t just her life at stake, but her unborn child’s as well put things into perspective for her. She hated knowing she was already attached to the thing inside of her. To attached, too soon. He brought up how she said she did not want the child, which was true, she didn’t. She wanted nothing to do with it. She hated the position she was in, the worst part in her mind was the act that what he was saying was all the truth, or the truth as she knew it.
When he asked if she had ever felt the cruciatus curse, she felt a shock of cold air go over her. She knew of the curse, the painful torture curse that had been dubbed one of the unforgivable curses. She didn’t want to imagine the pain let alone experience it firsthand. God no, she thought quickly. Oh god no. From her knowledge of the curse she would gladly die before going through it. It left people insane, she knew that. She waited till she was certain he was finished to say shakily “Y-You are being very generous….. giving… the child a chance…… when I would just..”. She paused forcing herself to say it “….murder it.”.
She had never thought she would be in this position. At that moment she knew she would have to protect the child with her life. At least until it was born. After that she would not need to protect the child. But until then, her life depended on the child’s life. She could tell that from the intensity of the situation. She couldn’t be her reckless self, she would have to be extremely careful, one slip and she could lose the baby. One wrong action and she could miscarry. She would have to be careful. Overly so. It took all she had not to cry at the moment. Her fear and her hormones were going nuts. Damn hormones she thought spitefully. As she looked to Phoenix she said truthfully “I will do everything in my power to keep the child safe.”. After she said this she couldn’t help but think about how much she would need to mean it.

because danica reminded phoenix of himself, he knew she was going to try as hard as humanly possible to not let her fear show. 'not that she's human' a voice in his head chirped happily, 'she's half-mutt'. it was insane how just a few moments ago, phoenix was thinking about how smart this girl was, and what a good addition she was to the wicked wands. he had planned for his upper class to consist of him, bella, danica and possible one of the few men, just to keep the females in line. one comment had made him feel disgusted that he had even considered that fact. she was a werewolf. those couldn't exist in his world. he would destroy the muggles and the mudbloods, and then the dog-like creatures. danica wasn't going to live to see his new world. but of course, she wasn't to know that.
but the problem for danica was that she was so like him. because he could relate to her, he knew what to look for to spot her fear. so while she stood straight with her head held high, all he could do was smirk because he could spot the fear in her eyes. the girl was terrified. he wouldn't be surprised if she wet herself. all over the thought of one little curse, a couple threats and some snake speak. she certainly wasn't as strong as he had hoped she would be. but that was a good thing. she would be easier to break. the best followers were the scared ones. because they would never have the guts to leave, for fear that he would hunt them down and kill them. more than half his death eaters had been of those sort. the brave ones, well they could turn on him. like severus snape, and regulus black had. but those like wormtail, and the malfoys, they had been scared shitless. and they had stayed with him until the end.
phoenix lifted his wand, tracing the outline of the girl's face with the tip. it was such a shame that she was half-werewolf. she was such a pretty girl. long blonde hair, fair skin. he was a sucker for blondes, that was why bellatrix would never be able to satisfy him, even with her new, attractive body. 'all the same when the clothes are off' his mind crooned, and he smiled, pulling the wand away from her face. that had probably scared her enough. did he dare continue with his game?
phoenix had noticed the way she had jumped when he had let his speech slip into parseltongue. so he began speaking to himself in the language, really not saying anything of too much importance. the language sounded spooky to those who didn't understand it, that was the point. it would scare danica, because she wouldn't know he was talking about how he would kill harry potter when he had the chance. she would probably think he was calling snakes to eat her, or some stupid bullshit like that. teenagers these days feared the strangest things.
when the girl finally spoke, he burst into laughter. cold, cruel laughter, but laughter none the less. the was she had stuttered and paused between the words, it reminded him of the old days when he had all the power. "stop that! you sound like a malfoy." he raised his hand, giving her a light slap on the cheek. it wasn't hard, but it would sting enough. "but, i am quite generous aren't i? such a nice human being, i am." he grinned, being to pace slowly. "at least one of us here is human." he continued. he was playing with her, talking, making her think he was going to do something to her when really, he had no plans of pulling any curses out on her. after all, she was already agreeing to his wishes. she wouldn't know that though, all she would see if the wand that was still in his right hand,
"such cruel words" he whispered in her ear. he had changed from pacing back and forth to circling the girl, all scare tactics. he stopped, standing directly in front of her, only and inch or so between the two of them. "i can't believe you fooled me into thinking you were human." he said, faking a look of disappointment on his face. "no human would say such cruel things about her own child. you are so lucky you have me here, to make sure nothing happens to that precious thing."
phoenix wondered how far this girl was going to go to save herself from torture. what did she think he was going to do with the child? there was no way she could have come up with what he had, the genius plan. no one would think of such a brilliant plan, no one except the dark lord. and since no one besides bella, rabastian, marsallia and a few death eaters knew who he was, no one would expect such excellent plans. to everyone, he was just a scary as hell teenager. her answer however, pleased him. because now, if she didn't keep it safe, he could accuse her of so much more. "you better make sure it is perfect." he replied coldly, reaching forward and placing a hand on her stomach. it remained there for a moment, before he moved it to her waist. she was still thin, for now.
"if it isn't," he began, leaning forward so their noses were almost touching, "then there will be fatal consequences" and then, because he couldn't handle the part of his mind that was screaming at him, he leaned forward and pushed his lips against hers roughly.

Pure terror filled Danica as he came closer, tracing the outline of her face with the tip of his wand. She stayed as still as she possibly could as if the wand was instead a knife that intended to kill her. She feared for her life at that moment. No amount of composure she could ever muster could cover this terror. She was beyond the point of fear, she had left it at the point that his wand moved toward her face. She shuddered as the wand was removed from her face, as she feared that it would be placed back there. The only two things that Danica was focusing on was the wand that laid in Phoenix’s right hand, and keeping herself alive. That was all that mattered to her at the moment. She’d do almost anything to keep herself from being tortured. Anything.
Danica couldn’t help but think that Phoenix was enjoying the fear he was installing within her. So cruel she thought. But she knew if the situation was different, she would voluntarily do it as well. Adrenaline ran through her, unable to calm herself down. Her heart raced, oh this was a high that she wasn’t enjoying.
When he began to speak in parseltongue once more she couldn’t help but feel confused. She didn’t like not knowing what he was saying. Whether they were insignificant or not, she hated not knowing things. This built up rage inside of her ,but this rage was over powered by fear. Why would he be talking in a tongue she didn’t recognize, unless it was to scare her or to say something she couldn’t hear. Her thoughts suddenly went to the second option. Oh she hated this, this not knowing, this fear. Everything about the situation made her sick to her stomach. Or maybe it was just the pregnancy, but she knew that no matter what, fear was the least favorite thing she had ever expeiranced.
Phoenix’s sudden laughter made Danica shudder. It was so cold, so cruel. It had come just after she had spoken. Then came a comment that caught her off guard. What did he mean like a Malfoy? Before the thought had even registered she was slapped on her cheek. It wasn’t a hard one, she was thankful for that. But it did sting, enough to cause a slight radiating pain to come from the space. She was fed up with his games, and had she not had the self control she did she would have yelled and screamed at him. But she reined her self control, to keep her anger from breaking free.
The next comment she heard she wanted to laugh at. Though she had said he was such a generous person she hadn’t meant a word of it. She just needed to get through it. She couldn’t hold back a hurt look when he brought up the fact that she wasn’t completely human. She didn’t mind, but hearing it from him, she couldn’t explain why it hurt her so much more than anyone else’s remarks. But it stung, like her cheek did after the slap. It hurt her.
The torture seemed to endure forever though only minutes had passed by. Could he sense just how scared she was? How she felt about all of this? His next comments were like knives in her chest. She was a human being, well, she was half human at least. She was tempted to bring out the fact that werewolves, as herself, since he was implying that, had not been the ones to invent an abortion humans had, and that his own child wouldn’t be a human being either. Humans had. But she sat in silence. Whenever he implied how lucky she was having him there to watch over the child she said “I suppose I am.”, hiding, at least in her voice, the fear she felt.
After she had promised him to guard the child with her life, she could only help he would appreciate the fact. He seemed very intent on having the child, why she didn’t know, but he wanted it. He told her to make sure it was perfect; Danica wondered how she could guarantee that, it wasn’t like she had complete control over the whole situation. Then suddenly she felt a hand on her stomach. It was small, which was the way she liked it. She couldn’t imagine how big it would get throughout the entire pregnancy. That thought made her sigh. So many sacrifices would be needed to be made by her just to keep the child safe. Which, she couldn’t even guarantee that. Then his hand moved down and found its way onto her hip where to stopped.
Danica was shocked whenever Phoenix kissed her, his lips pressed hard against her own. It came quickly, no warning to prepare her for what was going to happen. She when she felt his lips on hers it gave her a feeling of surprise, and pleasure. Her fear seemed to fade out of her mind for an instant, surprise taking its place for only a moment. What was he doing, she thought, returning the kiss out of shock and instinct. What did he want from her she thought as she returned the kiss, she was already going to have his child, which for the matter had not been her choice. If anything happened to that baby, if anything was wrong with the baby, she knew her life would be cut short. That death would be right around the corner, and she knew there would be no hiding from Phoenix. None at all. This man insulted her, had gotten her pregnant, and had threatened her life. So why was she returning the kiss? In all honesty, Danica didn’t know, all she knew was she needed to do whatever it took to keep her alive, and the child alive. She needed that baby, it was her lifeline.

phoenix was sure he had her absolutely willing to do anything for him not to crucio her. the thought was still in his mind, although at the beginning he had never intended to do so. it had all been just another scare tactic. but it had been so long since he had even caused someone a bit of pain, and he ached for it. he loved the sounds people made when they were being tortured, he loved the way they screamed in pain. it had been too long since he had heard those screams. he missed them. phoenix hadn't expected her to listen to him when he told her to stop talking like a malfoy. she wouldn't have even known the reference, to lucius, narcissa and draco malfoy, the most spineless death eaters he had had. but her voice was surprisingly calm when she spoke again, although there was that feat in her eyes still.
just looking at the girl was making his body ache. he wanted her. he didn't know why, but he did. maybe it was his anger that triggered the hormones, or maybe it was just the blonde hair. it had always been blondes for him. they were the ones that drove him wild. he grinned at the hurt look she had when he mentioned that she wasn't human. so, somewhere inside of all that angry, she did care about him. good. it made her easier to hurt.
phoenix was surprised she didn't try to shove him off when he kissed her. instead, she responded, her lips working with his. it wasn't like it had been during their one night stand, those kisses has been quick but gentle. these were rough, and full of anger and unanswered hunger. he forced his tongue in her mouth, more to see how she would respond then for the make out. he really wasn't a fan of having his tongue in other people's mouths.
it wasn't until then that he realized how much he wanted her. not sex, her. he ripped away from the kiss, breathing heavily, and walked a few steps away from her. he shook his head, confused. "blondes. always the fucking blondes." he muttered, more to himself than to her. "that's why she'll never be enough. she's loyal, she wants you, she's hot but she isn't fucking blonde." he punched a tree, not really doing anything except scraping his hand. then he walked closer to danica, close enough to feel her breath on his face. "you could have had it all, but you had to ask questions. you would have had status, power. can you imagine that? a werewolf with status. your father had never been so lucky."
he was letting too many slips about the past go today, but he doubted she could place the pieces together. he pressed his lips to hers again once, and then parted and walked away once again. he lifted his wand, light in his hand and with a smile, said one word. "crucio."

As Danica returned the kiss she couldn’t help but think of their one night stand. These kisses were so different than those had been. Those kisses had been quick and soft, these were hard and angry. She couldn’t help but think about how at that moment, she wanted him. It was the hormones talking and she knew it. Why would she want him now? All this fighting and anger had made her hormones go wild. Suddenly his tongue was inside her mouth, she couldn’t hide her surprise. She wasn’t sure what she should do, she considered pushing him away. But she couldn’t.
When he suddenly ended the kiss, Danica wasn’t sure what was wrong. She watched him walk off a bit and heard what he said. He clearly wasn’t talking to her at that moment but she listened. Who was he talking about? She didn’t know but he seemed to prefer blondes from the way he was talking. His return was unexpected as he made his way so they were only a few centimeters apart. She listened to his words, that hit her hard. She knew how hard it was to get anything when you were a werewolf, or even just half. You were looked down upon, extremely so. Damn her curiosity she thought.
Danica watched as Phoenix walked away after pushing his lips against hers once more. She wondered what he could possibly be up to; she wasn’t sure how much more of this she could take. As much as I need to, she thought. She watched him raise his wand with a smile. This time though, she had a feeling it wasn’t just going to be a scare tactic for her. She said quickly, her words filled with fear “Phoenix.. please..n-“. She didn’t get to finish her statement before she heard the word she’d been dreading, crucio. The spell hit her dead on, not that she’d expected any less.
Suddenly she was filled with a crippling pain, like every one of her nerves were screaming. She lurched forward, landing on her knees hard. She dug her fingers into the dirt as if to stop the pain, closing her eyes tightly . She clutched to the ground to her knuckles turned white. After less than a minute of the spell hitting her, Danica couldn’t hold back her screams anymore. She let out a blood curdling scream, though she knew no one could hear it except for herself and Phoenix. Damn Phoenix, damn it, damn Phoenix she thought angrily. At that moment, she had no tolerance for pain anymore. She tried to suppress a scream by cursing “Damn! Damn it!!”. Oh it wasn’t working, nothing was.
Her temples began to throb, and she let another scream escape her lips. There was no way she could escape this. She was trapped in pain. What did he think he would accomplish from this she thought. Suddenly she pulled herself into the fetal positing, releasing her firm grip on the ground, all the while shaking from the pain. As she found herself in the fetal position her mind quickly found its way on the baby.
This pain was so much, it might be too much for the baby. She might miscarry. No, she couldn’t do that. She couldn’t, it was her lifeline. She yelled “Damn you Phoenix you’re killing it! You’re killing the damn thing! You’re killing your child, your damn son!”. She hoped this would get him attention, make him take the pain away. She wasn’t sure how she’d feel afterwards, angry that he had cursed her or thankful he had ended the pain. Oh, at this moment, she knew for a fact that she would be thanking him. Even if he hadn’t done it for her, but for the child.
