James walked towards the lake. He got to the lake and long deep sigh. He looked around and noticed nobody around. He sat on the grass next to the lake and look over the lake. He picked up some stones and start skidding them over the water. Watching each stone as it jumped of the water and finally landed in the water. He stopped and stood looking at the lake. It was a long time since he had time to himself to reflect on things. He was finding his sixth year a little more difficult than the rest. Classes were more difficult and the girls were more confusing than ever.
He looked down on the lake. He looked at his reflection. The young boy looking back at him. For a minute he just wanted his reflection to come alive and just tell him what to do, guide him in the right path. He couldn’t talk to his parents, there was just some things you don’t tell them and don’t want them to know. He looked at himself in the water and smiled. He knew what he had to do. It was just doing it. This was a first for James, he never stopped to quick about things. He normally just jumped straight into everything. Something his mum said he got from his Father.
James stood back and sat back down on the grass. He lay back and closed his eyes. It was so peaceful, the birds tweeting and the rays of the sun on his body. He took deep breathes taking a minute to enjoy the quiet. It wouldn’t be long before he was back in the common room listening to everyone playing and laughing and fighting. He started to hum a tune out loud while he lay there on the grass.

The Slytherin Common Room was filled with noise, it was astounding that Brooke could even hear her own thoughts as she sat writing a letter to her parents. She had tried ignoring people so she could just curl up on one of the leather couches and just tell her parents all was well, and she would see them in the summer, but there was far too much noise. One of the boys fell onto the couch next to her, and all she could manage was a glare, that caused him to get up quickly and leave. Sighing, she stood up and walked to the common room entrance and left, she heard a few people call her name but she didn't care to listen, she wasn't in the mood for all their noisy fun.
The weather wasn't too bad, so she took the chance of going down to the lake. There weren't too many students out and about, she had a bad feeling they may be down at the lake, but as she arrived there was only one other person there, James Potter. She knew of him of course, but they hadn't met, after all their houses were the biggest rivals. He was skipping the stones in the water, and she watched for a moment, before sitting behind a tree, out of his view to finish her letter home. It didn't take as long in the quiet of the afternoon, so she tucked it away in her bag and stood up, however his whistling caught her attention just as she was going to leave.
Making her way over slowly, she debated on what she would say, unfortunatley before she could say anything she stepped on a stick, bringing attention to herself. She quickly stood up a little straighter, and gave him her sweetest smile. "Sorry, I was just out for a walk, and heard you whistling, I came to see who it was." she said sweetly. Sure the girl could be a total bitch, but she had a decently sweet side, not to mention if you really got to know her, she was a completely different person all together.

James jumped up from the grass and turned around to see a girl. It was Brooke Harper a seventh year Slytherin. He had checked her out a few times in his six years at the school, but stopped himself getting to close because she was a Slytherin. He knew what they were.
He took a deep breath, skidded his last stone and gave the girl a warm smile, " Hey Brooke" He said in a soft voice. He looked at the girl for a seccond, Looking into her eyes and then looking her up and down. He turned from the girl and and sat back down on the grass. He was not sure what to say to the girl. He was nervous, which was strange because he was never nervous with girls. Before he knew it and could stop it " How are you doing?" jumped straight out of his mouth. He sighed at himself and hoped the girl would answer.

Brooke had never been the type to even consider having anything to do with a Gryffindor, that's why she was disappointed that James was one, after all he was quite good looking, and maybe even a little charming. Tucking her hair behind her ear she studied the lone Gryffindor for a moment, and her curiosity bubbled up. She couldn't help but wonder what he thought of her, did he think she was just some Slytherin, and like all the rest, or did he figure there was something else. She almost laughed to herself, she knew the answer, he would assume she was like the rest of them... but they were Purebloods... she wasn't.
Her eye brow rose as he just turned his back to her and sat down once more, she took a step forward, then a step back thinking better of it. She couldn't help but be drawn to his eyes when he looked at her, and as he checked her out she did the same for him, he hadn't changed much over the years, well maybe he had, but she wouldn't say anything, "Oh I'm good thanks... uh how are you?" she replied taken a little off guard by his question. She walked up beside him and sat down, the worst he could do was get up and leave right?

He watched as the girl sat on the grass next to him. He looked around for a minute to see if anyone was watching. He turned and looked at her again. She was a lovely looking girl, James did feel he was betraying everything he believed in by thinking it. He smiled at her as she answered. " Cool, yeah not bad" He said tapping his foot on grass nervously. He looked at her again, working out if she was being nice or if she was having a joke. He expected some idiot like Scorpius Malfoy to walk round the corner.
He looked at her and smiled. He that feeling he gets when talking to girls. Like butterflies in his stomach and the danger made it even more interesting. " Did you get up to much this summer?" he said laying his head back on the grass looking at the clear blue sky. He watched as owls and birds flew by. He wondered if his owl go to his Dad. He rolled over to his stomach and looked at Brooke. He couldnt work her out, usually he was able to figure out girls straight away but she was different.

The Lake looked nice in the afternoon, she loved coming to it at night though when the moon was full and the light reflected off the water. Brooke acted like most Slytherins though it was hard to determine really if she was like the rest of them, of course she (like most girls) had those moments when she was a real bitch and no body could stand her, but of course as a few handful of people knew she wasn't like the Slyherins, first of all she was a far cry away from being a Pure-blood, but she didn't care, she was proud to be a half blood, even if she did get teased in the Slytherin Common Rooms at times. She looked over at James and sighed, "You know I am the only one around... if you want me to go I can?" she stated. She had seen him glancing around, she knew he probably thought she was going to do something nasty, if it had of been anyone else she might have done a hex on him, but for some reason the thought hadn't even crossed her mind.
Brooke couldn't help but admit that she liked his smile, it was warm and friendly, it wasn't a cold sneer she had gotten so used to seeing from the people she surrounded herself with. Had the sorting hat even sorted her properly? She didn't know and there was no way she could ask. "Not much really, travelled a little with my family, Mum is a big fan of family time, so Dad humors her. How about you?" she returned the question leaning back a bit onto her arms, she glanced over at James as he rolled onto his stomach, her eyes meeting his for just a moment before she promptly returned them towards the Lake. "You look like you're trying to solve a mystery Mister Potter." she teased a hint of a smile on her lips.
OOC: sorry for the late reply!
