It was a dreamless night, just like other nights. Jason hasn’t slept well for a few weeks. It wasn’t because he had bad days, it was just because he had too many things in his mind. There were too many thoughts in his head, sometimes it was hard to control them. Jason couldn’t do it nowadays. That was why he went down to the lake. Watching the dark water, watching the reflections on the water, watching the sky and listening to the silence just helped him to relax. These all helped him a lot to relax. Jason was sitting under a huge tree, his back was leaned against the tree trunk. Jason pulled his legs to himself and took out a piece of parchment to scratch something. On the background, he was still thinking of something. To be honest, it was somebody that he has been thinking for a couple days.
Jason didn’t meet her yet, he didn’t know her name either. He tried his best to listen to people around her carefully, just to hear her name. He had no idea what house she was in though. She was caught by his eyes in the Hogsmeade, just by a chance he saw her. No it wasn’t a chance, it was just coincidence. According to his plan, his new life, Jason chose to observe every single thing people did. It was easiest way to get to know them a little bit, to see how they did react. His eyes suddenly turned to the lake, the water wave. He tried to see what caused it, he had heard that there were creatures in the lake but he hadn’t seen any of them before. Jason wouldn’t want to see any water creature though, it wouldn’t be easy to deal with them. He saw a couple people coming down to the lake, it meant the place wouldn’t be as quiet as it was.
Jason stood up quickly, he decided to go to the Whomping Willow. He just let his feet take him away from the lake, to the Whomping Willow. Jason still could remember his first year, the adventure of that enchanting willow. The adventure, it was all because of his older brother. Jason just tried to hide from him, he never liked to be annoyed by his brother. His brother and Jason got along with each other but not too much. Well they were good to each other as much as other ordinary brothers were. They had been better before Jason didn’t start the school, before Jason wasn’t sorted in Slytherin house. His brother didn’t expect that, he acted like he was kind of betrayed. The look in his eyes changed a little bit but at the end he got used to it, of course. But there was something else, something more than that. Jason changed, he preferred observing rather than talking.
It just made Jason to stay away from his brother as much as he could do. His brother wasn’t the one who called him ‘loser’ but hanging out with him made things worse, hanging out with other students who were not Slytherins. Jason never described himself a loner, he wasn’t alone. He was never lonely, he just wanted to be on his own. He could hang out with his ‘friends’, well there were only a couple friends that he did hang out with. They were the ones he didn’t observe. He met one of them in his first year, a Slytherin just like him. They became close friends in no time, they took many classes together. Jason was glad to have a friend like that, at least he had somebody who could keep him away from the trouble. The other friends he had were just friends, close but Jason still didn’t trust them completely. He just hung out with them and tried not to care anything else. He had fun with them.
Anyway mostly Jason was on his own, especially the weekends. On Sundays, he went down to the lake or he climbed to the towers. These two places were the quietest place at school. Jason was trying to find another place to hang out with himself while he was walking to the Whomping Willow. A smirk appeared on his face when he saw the willow, it was really huge. He didn’t go too closer. He saw on the grass, near a rock. His eyes turned to the willow again, he knew he didn’t want to go back these days. His first year wasn’t so great but still he liked being here. Jason began to like his house, they were different from others. He still didn’t know why he was sorted in Slytherin but he knew there must’ve been a reason. He would figure it out soon, not so soon but soon. His head turned to the right quickly as he heard a crackle.
