with eyes like sunsets baby , and legs that go on for days. i'm falling in love but it's falling apart. venturing hogsmeade village had gotten only slightly over-rated since the days that she became eligible to do so. sure, the shoppes were now familar and the faces weren't as new. however, she still enjoyed getting away from the castle and exploring new items that may have hit the shelves. one of vic's favorite parts of hogsmeade was the small bookshop that nestled between two other shops that hardly ever went to. because of its location, and type of shop really, it was a very quiet place to cozy up with a book.
vic didn't necessarily always like the quiet. that day, she wanted to be at peace, but still enjoy the noises and laughter of students. it felt her feel less alone. her plan for the day had been devised in her head before she even left the castle. now, victoire walked the lane of hogsmeade, making her way toward the books. the trip inside the bookstore was rather short. she wanted to do some research on hogwarts and figured that she could find a book about the school that wasn't within its walls. she was right. 'toire purchased the book and then headed back up the walkway where she came from, against the crowd.
her blonde hair raveled in curls as it bounced up and down, pacing with her walk. she eventually stopped, and turned quickly to the right, into a pub. the pub was rather crowded, but it contained the atmosphere she desired. victoire smiled to herself as she practically flew over to a booth in the corner. she had gotten really lucky with that spot. she smiled, took her purse off and shoved it beside her, then put her feet up on the other side of the sitting, underneath the table. victoire then ordered a butterbeer, opened up her book, and began to read.

The Three Broomsticks pub. One of the few places Alexander visited when he wasn't doing shopping for potion supplies or new recipes, or the occasional chocolate frog from Honeydukes. While it wasn't quiet, it was large and always seemed to have an empty seat. He usually came here to knock back a few drinks and read until the train back to Hogwarts finally came. Even though it was loud, it was still peaceful to the bookworm.
So, Alex was (and very much so) unpleasantly surprised when he saw how crowded it was today.
"Merlin's beard..."
The grumbling potions crafter scanned, looking for someone he knew or an empty seat or something. A flash of blonde hair caught his eye and he made his way over. He finally recognized a student in the same year as he, the blonde girl named Victorie or something French like that. He had shared a few classes with her, she seemed moderately intelligent, which was a plus.
On a different note, Alex realized that he really needed to get better with people's names.
Making his way through the cramped crowd, the Ravenclaw nudged the girl on the shoulder.
"You don't mind if I sit here and read, do you? It doesn't seem like there's any open seats and I've got nothing else to really occupy myself with today until the train comes back to pick us up," the young man said, pointing to the copy of advanced potionsmaking in his hands.

with eyes like sunsets baby , and legs that go on for days. i'm falling in love but it's falling apart. the young woman smiled as she embraced the night air, then turned to her partner as he went on to answer her. "alright, well let's venture honeydukes! they have much more than chocolate, and i'm betting anything you'll enjoy it," she said, then motioned him to follow. the streets weren't as crowded as they had been earlier in the day. that usually happened in hogsmeade when dusk fell upon the students. they sort of dispersed into the various shops, some drastically hyper and some being drained of their energy, simply waiting for the train to take them back to the school.
she knew some of the shops would be decently crowded - honeydukes one of them. however, victoire was also aware that they could slip in and slip out, enjoying their goodies underneath the moonlight. she smiled to herself as they walked, finally nearing the shop. "well, here we are!"
she announced, though she already knew he'd been there before. toire let her curls fall in front of her shoulders before opening up the door and leading him in. "hmm...alright, so you've tried the chocolates...let's see..." she half-shouted over the loud chatter. she suddenly tugged on his hand and pulled him along, nearing the side of the shop that had more than just chocolate. she grabbed some bertie bott's beans, canary cream, ice mice, and pepper imps. after grabbing handfuls of the candies, she motioned alex to follow her. she quickly paid for the treats, not giving him the chance. hey, this was going to be her treat - literally. she grinned and exited honeydukes with him, carrying her bag of sweets. "wanna sit down and try a few?" [/blockquote][/blockquote]

The potions user smiled warmly and sat down across from the young woman, opening his own book. He began to read, but before he got a page in, he caught the girl looking at him, tilting her head. Alex, not used to people staring at him, blushed lightly in embarrassment.
"I-is there something on my face?" Alex cursed his stutter. He tended to stutter when he was nervous, caught off guard, or embarrassed. He unconsciously wiped his cheek, hoping that it whatever was on his face was gone and that he didn't look like a total idiot. Thankfully, as she spoke, the waitress came up with the girl's drink, and his new acquaintance
"I appreciate the offer, but I've got it. A butterbeer for me as well, please, mam."
He looked at his book nervously, trying to see if the answers to whatever the hell was going on were in there. Out the corner of his eye, he noticed that he girl was reading a thicker book, causing the Ravenclaw side of his personality to show.
"What're you reading?" the young man said, his entire demeanor shifting from nervous to excited.

with eyes like sunsets baby , and legs that go on for days. i'm falling in love but it's falling apart. vic laughed lightly as the boy got all nervous. "oh, no! of course, not! it's just that...i know you, and i'm trying to think of your name," she said, smiling kindly. she simply nodded as he ordered to the waitress, and she patiently waited to sip at her drink until he was brought his. it was only polite, really, to provide such a gesture. her hair fell in front of her face as she tilted her head down, looking at her book. she smiled to herself, then looked back up.
"it's hogwarts, a history. i bought it today. i had been borrowing it from the library, then decided to just get my own copy to prevent more trips there,"
she said, smiling. she looked at the cover of his book and smiled, looking back to his eyes. "you're into potions, then?" victoire questioned. she liked getting to know new people, since they often had different likes and interests than her own. it was interesting to learn about the various people that walked through the halls of hogwarts with her. vic shuffled in her seat and tightened her grip on her book, then looked over his features again. where did she know him from? "oh! you're alex, right? alexander douglas?" she knew she was right. he had been in several of her classes over the years, but the two had never really spoken much. it wasn't like she didn't like him or anything. he had just seemed a bit quiet to her, and she didn't always like breaking the ice between herself and others. spare that, he seemed a little bit more into classes than she would have normally been able to associate with. still, alex seemed to be really nice at that point, and she was glad he'd chosen to sit across from her. "Ah. I've read that. A few times. It's a fairly interesting read, no? I like it." A few times? Hogwarts, A History was more or less able to be rewritten by memory if one put together the entire Ravenclaw 5th,6th, and 7th years and put them all in a room. In no time flat, actually. Potions, on the other hand, was his niche, definitely.
As she looked at his book, Alex nodded.
"Yeah. I'm really good at Potions, if I may brag. I think my love for potionmaking came from my father, who is a chef. It's very similar to cooking, you know?"
As the blonde finally remembered his name, Alex nodded, sighing slightly. While it was great that people recognized his skill (or obsession) with the science of potions, it did irk him when people only remembered him for being the potions guy.
Oh well. Harry Potter was the Boy Who Lived because he survived a curse. Famous people didn't get to choose their titles.
His own butterbeer came in the bottle, top freshly popped open. He nodded to the waitress and thanked her. He took a sip of it and sighed in satisfaction.
"Yes, call me Alex. Victoire Weasley, right?"

with eyes like sunsets baby , and legs that go on for days. i'm falling in love but it's falling apart. victoire smiled, nodding with him as he spoke. "oh yes, i quite enjoy it," she said, leaving it at that. she wasn't supposed to go around screaming that she was the leader of the paper angels, or even that they existed. that organization was the whole reason she really had the book in the first place, although it truly was a very interesting read.
she admired alex, flashing her white teeth to show that she did so. his next few words were comforting. "potions? that's a difficult subject; you must be really smart,"
she said, smiling. it was true. she'd always had trouble with potions. victoire performed best at defense against the dark arts and charms, really. still, she could whip up a decent potion - it just wasn't the best. watching him drink his butterbeer made her smile, and she went to do the same. she felt the foam grab at her upper lip, making her grin as she pulled the glass away. she giggled and wiped at her mouth with her sleeve, then smiled at him. "yep! victoire, but most people call me 'toire or vic, whichever their preference," she said, smiling. she put her hand across the table, outreached to him. "hard to imagine we haven't properly met after all these years alongside each other, but it's never too late to make a friend." [/blockquote][/blockquote]

Alex nodded at her assessment. He was really smart. That's why he'd been put into Ravenclaw. However she might not know that, so he gave her the benefit of the doubt.
"Well, I do happen to wear the Ravenclaw robes for a reason," he said, smiling casually, winking. He laughed at his own joke. He shook the girl's hand, "It's nice to meet you. Well, not meet you, as I've already met you, but it's nice to have a conversation with you."
Alex "hmm'd" in thought. It wasn't all that odd. He was a bookworm in the house of bookworms. He was friendly, but he mostly kept to himself.
"Well, most people don't really talk to us in Ravenclaw. Some people are intimidated by our intelligence, and it doesn't help that most of us keep to ourselves. We tend to get along better with books than people. But you're right, it's never too late to make friends with people. "

"oh, i totally understand! i love reading, but i think i'd much rather have the experiences that i have with my friends than my nose in a book." she smiled, then shrugged. "not that there's anything wrong with that! it's just, my friends have made my life very...erm, interesting,"
she said, then laughed sweetly. "so, uh..." she started, then raised her book up a little. "i guess we both came here for a reason so should we, uh, continue our reading?" she asked, smiling. it wasn't as though she wasn't liking the conversation she and alex were sharing. no, it's just that she was sort of on a mission. plus, she hadn't really thought of much else to say to the stranger, despite not knowing anything about each other. "And that, miss Victoire, would be why you wear the red with the lions," the Ravenclaw said, laughing. He understood the want to talk to people, even if he didn't do it much. He looked down at his book and grinned.
"Everyone's got a hobby, ya know?"
The Ravenclaw nodded as she seemed to want to continue reading.
"You're right. I'm sorry I interrupted your reading!" Alex said apologetically, before getting into the chapter.
Alex had decided to start looking into the science of alchemy, the combination of potions and magic. He hadn't really been able to access information about it until the 6th year. Most people considered Alchemy a useless, defunct art, but if it was good enough for Albus Dumbledore to learn, then there was no harm in learning it. Besides, there was always a chance to discover something new. The prospect of it made him excited to learn the skill. He took another long drink of his buttermilk and smiled.

with eyes like sunsets baby , and legs that go on for days. i'm falling in love but it's falling apart. victoire giggled as alexander seemed quite apologetic for interrupting her. "you're fine!" she said cheerfully from behind the old pages of the book. she really didn't mind company. it was like she stated before, she'd much rather be involved with people than books. while she liked books, they often were deprived of the same characteristics people were. that was something she thrived on. people who had a personality, who were real and undefined, were people that toire wanted around her. she adored being around those who were fun and lively.
still, alex intrigued her. she had never really attempted to get to know those of the quiet and kind type. this was going to be real fun for her. thinking deeper and deeper about the possibilities of the fun they could share, victoire couldn't read any longer. she shut her book and leaned on the table, excitement evident in her flush features. "hey, what do you say we do something...i don't know, different,"
she proposed, grinning. she was sure that alex would be very interested, though she wasn't sure he'd go along. it wasn't as though she had anything particular in mind. she simply wanted to show him a good time. "is there something you've never done before in hogsmeade?" she asked, curiously, tilting her head to the side. generally, doing something someone has never experienced is always fun. she has always enjoyed watching others find new aspects of themselves that they'd never realized were there. it was a glorious experience to share new memories with new people, and she hoped alex would get in on the fun. she wasn't sure what they were to do, but she promised herself she would have fun no matter what. Alex nodded his head, focusing into his book. He really got lost in it, as usual for him, when he jumped from the sudden sound of a noise. Startled, Alex looked up at his companion. Alex "hmm'd".
"Somewhere I haven't been? Hmm... Not really. I mean, there's the Shrieking Shack. I've seen it, but I've never worked up the motivation to go in it. Then again, it doesn't have doors, so that puts a stop to that plan."
The Ravenclaw shrugged.
"You got any ideas? I don't mind being a shopping buddy if you need one. Hahaha, I don't really go into the shops much. I stock up on some of the herbology stuff I need for my potions," the young man said, laughing.
He'd never really been shopping for fun before, period.

with eyes like sunsets baby , and legs that go on for days. i'm falling in love but it's falling apart. she gasped as he said he'd never really been shopping in hogsmeade. toire could understand that being of the male species, for they were their own species (really!), it would have taken a lot for him to go shopping for enjoyment. she'd actually never bet a guy that did like to shop. however, when he offered to be her shopping buddy, it kinda sorta made her day. she grinned, her features lighting with pure surprise. "really? you'd want to tag along?" she asked. a sweet smile hung heavily to her pale lips, making it obvious that he had just moved into a part of her world she'd never even know was possible to locate.
"well, i could always introduce you to some of the shops. there are actually some pretty neat stuff around here, if you've never taken the time to browse,"
vic beamed, running her hands through her hair. she finished up her butterbeer and then stood up, throwing some money onto the table. she grabbed his hand and heaved him out of the booth, giggling as she dragged him away out of the pub. toire let go of his hand as they exited the three broomsticks, then outstretched her arms into the night. "ah, i love this weather!" she rejoiced, closing her eyes and twirling around. she ceased and her eyes flickered open, looking to him. vic grinned at him and shrugged her shoulders, crossing her arms over her chest. "so, where do ya wanna go first?" she asked, very content with how the evening seemed to be turning out. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

Alex's eyes widened in fear of the girl's sudden perkiness at the thought of shopping. In his mind, he saw a typical Muggle movie where a guy would be towed around holding a thousand bags and boxes, and the shook his head to clear the thoughts. It wasn't like he had anything better to do today. Besides, she seemed like a nice girl and he had to face facts, he was a big loner most of the time, so he could stand to be forced outside more.
So, with a timid shrug and a nod, Alex said, "Sure!" with as much enthusiasm as possible. He finished the mug of butterbeer in an attempt to gain whatever liquid courage it contained and found his hand begin grabbed, followed by him getting pulled out of the booth in what he was sure was an extremely comical fashion to the rest of the pub goers, should they be watching.
He found himself outside with the blonde, and watched her twirl around.Alex found himself grinning at his companion's enthusiasm and shrugged when he was asked where wanted to go first.
"I don't know. Like I said, I come to the Broomsticks, the Herbology and Potions shops, and an occasional trip to Honeydukes for chocolate."
