"quidditch, i love you-does that count as a song if i sing it?"
theodore remus lupin was born in late april during the last year of the biggest war the wizarding world has ever known. of course, he was way too young to remember anything about the war, which also means he was too young to remember a thing about his parents. remus lupin and nymphadora tonks died defending hogwarts school of witchcrafty and wizardry on the night the war ended, leaving teddy an orphan.
teddy grew up with his grandmother from his mother's side, andromeda tonks. life there wasn't bad, but it was fairly boring for an active and outgoing child like teddy. so he would jump for joy on the weekend, when his god father harry potter would pick him up and bring him to his house to spend time with his family. while grandma's house was all baking and gardening, harry's house was so action packed with all the people around. there was always something to do, whether it was study magic with aunt hermione, play quidditch with the kids or just hear uncle harry tell stories about his life. for some reason, uncle harry always had an interesting story to tell, about magic and fighting evil bad guys. teddy always stared wide eyed with adoration up at his uncle.
teddy was a stubborn child. when he was young, he had always refused to play with the female potter-weasley gang because they had cooties. however, when he was six years old, he was playing hide and seek with james, and couldn't find him anywhere. so, instead of continuing to look, he just stood on the spot and pouted, angry that he was going to lose. losing is the one thing that really hurt the confidence of the young boy, because he always wanted to be the best at everything. so when victoire weasley, who was just a year younger than himself, offered to help him, it made his day. ever since that day, the two of them played together often. they were together almost all the time when teddy was at the potter-weasley house, and by the time teddy was eight, they were the best of friends.
teddy's proudest moment in life was recieving his hogwarts letter. he spent hours just sitting and staring out the window, waiting for it, asking grandma andy when it was going to arrive. so when it did, he jumped up and down and squealed like a child, then rushed off to owl victoire. it wasn't even a week later when he was dragging the younger girl behind him as he went into shop after shop, buying everything on the requirement list for hogwarts, and then some. he soent hours staring at the broomsticks in quality quidditch supplies, even though it was forbidden for first years to have one. he was so set on not leaving that store without a broom that harry had to promise to buy him one for the next year, when he was allowed to have one at school. still pouting, teddy agreed and left the store. that foul mood didn't last long however, because there were other thrills to be had in the alley. the ice cream was fantastic, he got an barn owl which he named 'Bandit' and then, the best part of all, he made shining blue sparkles come out of the tip of an eleven inche mahogany wand filled with hippogriff talons. it had been a good day.
going to hogwarts for the first time was scary. it was the first time he was going to be away from his family for a long period of time, and he would have to do it without victoire. the girl had cried and begged to come with him, but in the end, he had left without her. none of the potter-weasley kids were old enough to go to hogwarts yet, so he was all by himself, a feeling he had never had before. he found an empty compartment and sat there all by himself, trying to tell himself he would make friends soon. and he did. a boy his age found him sitting alone and joined him, saying that he didn't know anyone on the train either. the two became friends quickly, and they were both sorted into gryffindor.
teddy inherited the power to manipulate his appearance at will. when he was younger, he kept his hair in bright colours, letting it grow long. however, when he got to hogwarts, he realized exactly how much he stood out, and changed to a brown. he loved his ability, and used it to impress his friends. teddy was a very outgoing and confident kid, and the other gryfffindor's loved playing quidditch with him, and his new best friend, ____ abercrombie. he loved the gift his mother left for him. however, teddy never even thought about his father's condition. he knew that his dad had been a werewolf from his grandmother's and god father's stories, but he never once thought about becoming a werewolf. so one day, in his first year, he began feeling strain on his muscles near the full moon. he was terrified, believing that he was going to change into a wolf and kill someone, but he never did.
no, instead pain ripped through his body, torturing him for hours. it felt like his body was changing, morphing, but it never did. and that is the way it has been ever since. teddy is glad that he doesn't change, but the pain is almost unbearable. he has to stay in the shrieking shack because his screams made the students at hogwarts feel very threatened. however, he is absolutely no threat to anyone, and his two best friends, victoire and abercrombie accompany him to the shack each full moon to stay with him. it really does help.
teddy can remember the exact day he fell in love with victoie weasley. she was playing with her sister dominique, they were running in the fields picking flowers. he was in his third year, and he had just exited the greenhouses after having a discussion about his poor grades to his herbology professor. when victoire saw him, she came running, her blonde hair flying in the wind, a flower in her hand. she handed the flower to him and just smiled. that was the day he stopped seeing victoire like a little sister, and instead thought of her as a beautiful young woman, who deserved a lot better than him.
the day louis weasley was attacked by a werewolf, teddy was sitting in the library, studying. that was something that he rarely did, but he was in his fifth year and his grades were really starting to slip. the year before, grandma andy had sent a howler, and he didn't want to relive that memory ever again. so he studied hard, until the doors flew open and there was james, out of breath and looking not quite sane. teddy remembered how scared he had been when he saw that his godbrother had been crying, and he followed, hoping that nothing had happened to victoire. and nothing had. but, he remembered how louis body had looked and imagined victoire being in that state. that is his greatest fear.
teddy, abercrombie and victoire were like the new golden trio of hogwarts. however, there was one distinct thing that changed them from harry, ron and hermione when they were in school, and that was the fact that both boys were mad about victoire. the girl herself has never even guessed, and neither boy knows about the others infactuation. now that he is in his seventh year, teddy is planning on finally telling victoire, however, mr abercrombie is planning on doing the same. victoire will have to chose, and the friendship may be broken.
now, teddy is the same confident ourgoing guy he was back in his first year. he smiles often, and never fails to try and brighten someone's day. he is a loyal friend and will stand up for anyone in trouble, and tries to be kind to almost everyone. he does have a fair amount of bias to slytherin's, however he tries to remind himself that his grandmother had been a slytherin, and she was a very nice woman. he hates liars, and is very honest himself. he can never hold back what he is thinking and acts before even thinking that what he is doing could hurt him. he is a daredevil, and will do anything for some money, which is mostly quidditch stunts.
