teddy absolutely despised the full moons that fell during summer vacation. well, to be honest, he hated all full moons. they were nights of terror that he would change into a full werewolf, because half werewolves were known to suddenly change all the way sometimes, for no apparent reason. and, of course, they were nights of pain. it felt like his limbs were being pulled and stretched and twisted in ways they were definitely not supposed to move. during school, it wasn't so bad because he had jayson there telling him jokes, and victoire there to hold his hand. but in summer, he was by himself. he spent the night locked in the garden shed of his grandmothers house, howling in pain. the change made him feel like shit for days afterwards. which totally explained the huge mistake he made last night, right?
teddy was walking down knockturn alley, although he didn't look like teddy lupin. using his metamorphmagi abilities, he had changed absolutely everything about himself, so that if someone saw him, he would not look like theodore remus lupin. instead, he looked like some wizard kid that had a mixture of various slytherin attributes. beady eyes. dark hair. black robes, and wicked awful teeth. his eyebrows were thick, and he looked rather thuggish. not exactly attractive. but he looked like a slytherin, which was his ultimate goal.teddy stopped in front of the club, music was pounding inside. did he really want to do this? not particularly. but he needed to get himself out of this deep funk he had sunk into, and getting absolutely drunk was the only way he was going to do that. so, he stepped into the club and made his way towards the bar, ordering a couple firewhiskeys. the bartender didn't give two shits about his age and handed them over. within ten minutes, he was asking for more. and it continued until he was completely drunk. there was dancing and more alcohol. fast paced songs and flashing lights. and a girl...he was making out with a girl. pretty, if she would get all that damn makeup off her face. it looked like it was caked on...
his bed was comfortable. even though he had been called to breakfast a number of time by a number of different people, he did not feel like getting up. he knew he would have to eventually. but right now, he was content with laying there, letting his hangover take over. he felt like shit. it wasn't even the fact that his body ached, or his head was pounding either. no. even though they weren't dating, and she didn't even know that he was in love with her, teddy felt like he had cheated. he had gone to a club known for dark arts and made out with some girl, probably a slytherin. he didn't even deserve to be friends with victoire. maybe he should just lay there forever.
of course, he couldn't do that. most of the weasley gang was coming over today for a big dinner that molly was going to make. that was the reason he was there in the first place. yesterday, before everything, he had been excited. he would get to see toire, and eat a delicious meal. but now, he didn't even want to face his family. teddy flopped over, laying on his stomach, his head pressed in the pillow. god, life sucked.

i'll stop the whole world , i'll stop the whole world from turning into a monster.
the day was supposed to be splendid. victoire woke with a smile, knowing she would see her family and one her best friends, ted. she had awaken earlier than the rest of her family, which was the normal for her. even though summer was upon them, toire had a sort of intuition to wake up and make sure everything was okay. she slipped from her bedroom and tip-toed down the stairs of shell cottage, entering the kitchen. the glass ceiling made way for dawn, a purple, blue, and orange sky visible to her. she smiled contently, poured herself a cup of pumpkin juice, and headed out into the morning air.
vic was still in her pajamas, but they were decent enough to wear outside. she had slept in an loose, long-sleeve shirt and a pair of grey shorts, which now lay wrinkled against her form. she didn't care, though. it was too early for normal people to be up, anyway. she made her way to the beach and sat down in the sand, staring out into the vast ocean. she sipped at her cool pumpkin juice, trying to awaken her senses. victoire took in the salty air and breathed heavenly, listening to the sounds of seagulls purring into the morning. she eventually rose and headed back to the house, determined to look her best for the family dinner that was to be at the potters' home.
she jumped into the shower and quickly changed into a pair of worn jeans and two layered tank tops, pink and white. victoire decided to lounge on her bed and wait for the others to get up. she was sure they'd be leaving as soon as they were all ready. in a matter of an hour, her suspicions were confirmed. her mother was already awake when she returned from the beach, and her father came down for coffee while her mother was in the shower. her parents ended up waking louis and dominique, though that wasn't too much of a shocker. if the both of them could sleep all day and hang out during the night, they'd do it. they were both night owls. victoire was completely different, and would much rather enjoy the sun and all its glory. still, the night was peaceful, too.
they arrived at the potter household in a timely manner. they were of course early for dinner, since it wasn't even lunch time. still, that's what family did. they usually went over in the morning and all of the cousins joined each other in fun and games while the adults discussed more important matters like bills and future endeavors. upon arriving, she was notified by molly that ted was still sleeping over. "be a dear and see if you can wake him," her grandmother had instructed, with a kind smile upon her wrinkles. of course, victoire agreed. she smiled and excused herself, then traveled up the stairs and making a small thud on the landing.
the rest of her cousins were downstairs, which meant she needn't worry about them intruding on conversation that she and teddy might share. that was good. victoire always felt that she and ted connected on a level far beyond what her cousins could understand, and she didn't like them butting in on that. she didn't knock on his door. vic simply strode in, her hair pin-straight against her skin. she smiled as she walked over to his bed and crawled in beside him, propping herself up on her elbow. "morning sleepyhead," she whispered, smiling. she admired his shaggy hair as she looked at him, waiting for him to respond to her. she bit her lower lip and her heart beat a little harder, for a reason unknown to her.

teddy was tired. he was hungover, depressed and he was still feeling the effects of sleeping in a garden shed for a night. he didn't want to get up. but at the same time, he couldn't sleep. all he could think of was that stupid girl in the stupid club, who was wearing too much makeup and had too much hair product in her blonde locks. blonde. god, of course. he moaned, lifting his head off the pillow and then faceplanting it right back down. he was such an awful person. he used this girl because he was feeling shitty about victoire. he deserved the hangover and the pain. he was such a god awful person. he was never going to get out of this bed. ever. no matter what. eventually, people would forget about him. then maybe he could sleep.
teddy was in that strange place where he was half asleep and half awake. so he didn't hear the door open because he was too focused on his self hating thoughts. and he didn't even realize it when victoire came on his bed. his half asleep mind just told him that there was something warm nearby, and he automatically moved towards the warmth, which happened to be victoire. he pretty much cuddled up next to her for about twenty seconds before the portion of his brain finally processed the fact that someone was in his bed. his eyes flew open and he rolled away from victoire as quickly as he could.
of course, he moved too far and ended up rolling right off the side of his bed, slamming down on the floor pretty hard. why was he such an idiot? maybe he could hide under the bed, and she would leave him alone. he felt his cheeks heating up in embarrassment, which most likely meant his hair was bright red, dominique-red. plus, he had been sleeping in just his boxers. toire couldn't see him like that. what was he supposed to do?
teddy reached up and yanked the sheet off his bed, using it to cover himself before getting himself off the floor. "jeez toire, ever heard of knocking?" he said, trying to keep his voice as even as possible. he sat down on the bed, running a hand nervously through his hair, and then grabbing a strand and examining the colour. brown. but with red undertones. crap. he glanced up at her, trying to see if she noticed the hair change, or the red on his cheeks.
and immediately wished he hadn't looked at her at all. her blonde hair was falling perfectly, framing her face, and she just looked so amazing. he looked away quickly, pretending to rub sleep out of his eyes so she wouldn't wonder why he wasn't looking at her. "you're here early."

i'll stop the whole world , i'll stop the whole world from turning into a monster.
she watched as he strangely cuddled up to her, and she grinned. apparently, ted wasn't awake. victoire simply looked down at him, wondering why she was feeling what she was feeling. she actually enjoyed him being that close. he looked rather...cute, really. she'd never admit that, though. he was her best friend - she couldn't ruin what they already had. it'd be disastrous. instead, she just watched him. it didn't take long for him to realize what he was doing, and she watched his eyes fly open suddenly. they were wide. but she caught a glimpse into those big brown eyes of his, and couldn't help but smile.
toire gasped as he fell off the bed, leaning slightly to where he went. "sorry teddy," she said lightly, pouting in his direction. she watched him run a hand through his hair, which made a smile embrace her lips. he was too darn adorable at that point. she glanced at the sheet, then back to his face. his cheeks looked awfully red, but she assumed that was from just waking and nothing more. he may have been a little embarrassed being half-naked and what not, but she didn't mind looking at him that way.
"sure am,"
she said quickly, trying to devise the subject. victoire moved her position and laid on her back, hands sitting on her stomach. "you can go ahead and change if you'd like," she commented, then raised her hands over her eyes. "i won't peek, i promise," she said, grinning. she knew he'd have to smile at that. she could feel her warm hands on her face, and it honestly made her a little sleepy. vic moved her hands, though, and turned onto her stomach, burying her head in the pillow. she breathed in peacefully, enjoying the cold against her face. it was quite humid out that morning, and the house wasn't much cooler. victoire wanted to comfort teddy and make sure he was alright from the night prior. she knew he had suffered a lot of pain, and she was sad she couldn't be there with him. she was with him in spirit, though. victoire had stayed up late and stared at the moon, wondering where ted was and how he was coping. she hoped he'd been alright. she sighed lightly, then began wishing he'd hurry up and dress so she could actually look at him. teddy wanted to curse. why had he reacted like that? he should have just faked being asleep, and spent as much time cuddling up to her as possible.
then, he realized what a bad idea that was. if victoire had found out he was awake, then he would have to explain everything to her. he wasn't ready to take that step yet. it could ruin their friendship. and if he and victoire weren't friends, then that would force jay in the middle of them. teddy didn't want to do that to his friend. jayson didn't deserve to be in the middle of awkward situations. plus, if toire rejected him, teddy didn't know if he would be able to handle it. after all, he had loved her since he was thirteen, and she had been in his life since he was a year old. he couldn't imagine a life without victoire. it would be like losing the love of his life and his best friend in one. he could never tell her how he felt abut her. never. it would destroy him.
victoire was looking at him, and he really wished she would stop. he wasn't in the best shape at the moment, because it was summer and he didn't have quidditch practice once a week to keep him busy. sure, he could play quidditch with his family, but there weren't enough of them that wanted to play that often. so he had only gotten out on his broomstick a couple of times since the quidditch season of last year had let out. plus, there were marks all over his body from his recent change. bruises, scratches, and just marks that were plain unattractive to look at. he was very glad for his sheet at the moment. he didn't want victoire to see him that that. sure, she knew he was half a werewolf. but when she was there, his changes weren't that violent. she had never seen him after a violent one. and he never wanted her to. "yeah, you better be." he replied to her apology, pulling the sheet a little higher.
teddy let out a slight breath of relief when she told him he could get changed. he waited as she covered her eyes, and then raced to his closet, yanking the doors open. he wanted to get covered up as fast as he possibly could. the sheet laid on the floor, forgotten. he grabbed the first things he could find, jeans, a white t-shirt and a plaid shirt to go overtop, and practically threw them off. as soon as he was covered properly, he felt better. he glanced back at victoire, who was laying on his bed, her face in his pillow. he thought of himself laying like that just ten or so minutes ago.
he walked back to the bed sitting down on the edge of it carefully, so she wouldn't notice he was there. he lightly placed a hand on top of her head, running his fingers through her hair slowly. she was so beautiful, it almost hurt. it was like staring at the sun. you were always tempted to look at it again, even though it seared your eyeballs. except in victoire's case, it made his heart ache. he took his hand away, thinking of the girl from last night. how could he really say he loved victoire, when he went out and made out with someone else? "done." he said, trying to sound as casual as possible.

i'll stop the whole world , i'll stop the whole world from turning into a monster. her dreams ran wild as she lay there, trying to resist falling asleep. the cold against her face felt so good. and afterall, she did wake up very early. while she had been wide awake moments ago, now she felt all snuggly. for some reason, ted's bed smelled absolutely delicious. she didn't want to leave it. she didn't even have a blanket over her, yet she felt so comfortable, even in her worn out jeans. vic yawned silently, hoping she didn't fall asleep before he was through. she figured he'd change fairly quickly, though. he had seemed kinda nervous that she was there. she supposed he most likely didn't have any clothes on, which was why he was acting so funny. toire could understand that, though. if he walked into her room and all she was wearing was a bra and underwear, what she wore to bed if she could pull it off, she probably would have screamed and squirmed into oblivion.
ted couldn't see her nakey. it was unnatural.
besides, he didn't want to. vic went back to her third year of school, hogsmeade. she was supposed to meet jay and ted at the three broomsticks later in the evening. upon heading in that direction, she saw the two boys walking with two girls, laughing and carrying on. toire remembered she never felt so humiliated before in her life. they were supposed to meet her, not other girls. she didn't really know what emotions she was feeling at that point. it was like jealousy mixed with heartache. however, she re-evaluated that situation and discovered, how could it have been either? they weren't her dates or anything, they were her best friends. they were able to have girlfriends and everything. just because they were close, didn't mean they couldn't be close with other girls. it was hard to accept, though. she didn't like it, and she didn't know why.
in either case, since then, victoire had bottled up her feelings for them. she normally didn't cry or show emotions that often anyway, but she especially put away her pain from that day. she couldn't admit she liked them or something. she wasn't even sure that that was what she had experienced. vic really didn't know. however, what she did know was that it hurt. bad. and she never wanted to feel that way again. it was part of the reason that if she ever liked anyone, she tended to keep it a secret or not let it get serious. she didn't want to endure the heartache again that she felt that day. besides, what was the point? she didn't get any enjoyment out of it. they were friends, the best of friends, and neither of them wanted more. that much was clear. otherwise, wouldn't they have said something by now? she knew teddy all her life, and jay since her first year. that was a long time to be best friends. that was a long time to harbor feelings, too, though.
she thought she felt a tugging on her hair, but she supposed it could be the air mixing around the air. victoire listened to him say done, and drifted back into reality. she turned over and sat up, crossing her legs indian-style. she bit her lower lip and sighed, then put her hand on his shoulder. "are you alright? from last night, i mean. i know it was a full moon...i always look out for it. i was worried for you all night," she said softly, tilting her head to the side, her hair falling. her blonde locks graced her skin, popping against the pink and grey tank top that fitted around her torso. she looked down at her hand then looked back up, hoping he was, truly, alright.

teddy wanted to just talk and laugh with victoire, like they usually did together. usually when he was with her, he felt light. like he was walking on air. victoire was the one person in the world who knew almost everything about him. he had told her every single thing about himself, besides the fact that he was in love with her. but no one except himself and dominique knew that fact. and dominique only knew it because she had been going after him awhile ago, and he needed a way to tell her that he just wasn't interested. after that, dominique changed. he felt awful. she had been such a sweet girl, with her dark eyes and her nice long blonde hair. she had been quiet, but it was a nice quiet, not the sort of silence where you got the feeling that she thought she was better than you. that was all you got from dom now. stony silence and insults.
but right now, he couldn't feel happy around victoire. all he felt was guilt. every time he tried to look at her, to touch her, all he saw was that blonde, seductively winking at him from a dark corner. and then the scene played over and over in his head. he walked over to her, she ran a finger down his chest. her fingernails were sharp, he could feel her touch through his robes and it made him shiver. he tangled a hand in her hair, that long blonde hair. and they had kissed. and then it progressed. he had flirted with girls before, he and jay both did together. they would dance with them at the post quidditch parties, and wink at them in the corridors. he would sit next to them in the common room and talk like he was interested. but there was only one girl for him, and that was victoire.
he told others differently, but he had never kissed a girl before last night. there had always been opportunities, girls who wouldn't have minded. it wasn't like he hadn't been on dates, there had been multiple girls through his years at hogwarts. but never once had he ever been in a relationship, or given a girl a second date. he had been saving everything for victoire. he wanted her to be his first girlfriend, his first kiss, his first love. and last night, all that had been flushed down the toilet. it was awful. he was awful. victoire shouldn't be talking to him, he didn't deserve to be friends with such a wonderful person. for the first time in his life, teddy wished victoire would leave him alone. because he could feel his bottom lip quivering. he didn't want to cry in front of her. he was supposed to be the strong once, to be there for her.
teddy was looking towards his window, the opposite way from victoire. his eyes burned, and he felt like his throat had closed up completely. he felt a hand on his shoulder, and he flinched. then she asked him about last night. and he wanted to tell her. but what would she say? he had gone to knockturn alley, gotten drunk and made out with some girl who was probably a slytherin and the daughter of a death eater. she would hate him forever, never forgive him. he took a deep breath, hoping his voice would sound normal. "i'm fine. no different than usual"
he flinched when his voice broke at the end of it.

i'll stop the whole world , i'll stop the whole world from turning into a monster. ted wouldn't even look at her. what was wrong with him? there was something there, something he wasn't telling her. she knew it. he wasn't his normal, cheery self. even after a full moon, he was generally excited to see her.today, he seemed like he didn't want her there at all. she sighed, then gulped. she was going to turn this day around for him. she desperately wanted to make him happy. she knew the pain he'd experienced the night before, all alone. she didn't want him to feel alone and lost. she couldn't even imagine being half a werewolf, and even not knowing your parents. if she didn't have fleur and bill, she'd be devastated.
toire got up from the bed and went in front of him, kneeling on the floor. she took his hand in her own and stared up at him, tilting her head to the side. "teddy, it's okay," she said softly, then stood up and hugged him. she closed her eyes and took in his precious scent. god, he smelled so good. she pulled away and smiled, running a hand through his hair playfully. "besides, you're my teddybear!"
victoire grinned, then turned around and walked toward the door, turning on her heel to look back at him. "let's get some breakfast and do something, kay?" she suggested. she wanted to get his mind off of whatever was bugging him, whether he wanted to admit to her or not that something actually was the matter. it didn't matter what was wrong, she had to fix it. as she stood there, watching him, she hoped that he hadn't done something to someone. he seemed quite upset at the idea of the night prior. had he hurt someone while experiencing his pain? vic hoped not. if he had, he could confide in her and tell her. she hoped he knew that. she was going to be there for him through everything, no matter what happened. that's what best friends were for. she cared for him deeply, and didn't want him to feel like he had to keep something from her. she knew he was, though. but at that point, she just wanted to see his adorable smile. she waited for him to rise and join her downstairs, with the rest of the family. she knew he would perk up a bit around james, hugo, and louis, and especially around her parents and the rest of the uncles/aunts. he didn't want them to think something was wrong. the potters and weasleys were always worried about him, more than he could imagine. what was wrong with him? he went through a night ever month where he experienced enough pain to rival torture without shedding a tear. he could go to the memorial well and stare at his parents names and only feel sad because he never knew them. but one stupid girl at a club had caused him to choke up, and now he was lying to victoire. he never lied to victoire. and she knew what he was like when he lied. she would be able to see it. if she knew he was lying, she'd be devastated. she would think he didn't trust her. teddy's mind was reeling, he didn't know what to do.
when victoire stood up, for a split second he thought she was leaving him and he wanted to grab her, hold her, beg her not to leave, anything. but then he realized that she was a good friend, unlike him. she was there for him. he held eye contact with her, forcing the tears away. he wasn't going to do this. not today. there would come a time where he was going to have to be weak in front of victoire. but it wasn't happening yet. right now, she was still the one who needed him to be strong.
he closed his eyes and pulled her closer when they hugged, wishing they could stay like that. but it ended after a short amount of time, like every hug of theirs went. loving someone who didn't love him back hurt. but he had to get over that. victoire was going to find out what was wrong if he continued to act so stupidly.
he couldn't help smiling at her nickname for him. it was pretty lame, but he had never once told her not to call him by it. it was something between the two of them only, and he cherished it. every moment that was just them two were his favourite memories. "thanks toire. it was just...a harder night than usual." that wasn't a lie. it had been the hardest night of his life. the only night he would ever regret. he knew he would regret it. "toire...do you think actions really mean something if a person was drunk while doing them?" he had to ask. he didn't care if she guessed what he had done, but he had to know. if he had really wanted that girl, even if he hadn't been drunk, then he was a worse person than if it had just been the alcohol.
he sat for a moment, pushing all of his thoughts aside. then he grinned, the usual teddy grin and stood up. "food sounds great. i'm starving." he hopped to his feet, talking a few steps so he was right behind victoire. "lead the way, my lovely best friend." he said, placing his hands on her shoulders to push her lightly forward. breakfast sounded good. breakfast would help. food solved all problems.

i'll stop the whole world , i'll stop the whole world from turning into a monster. victoire wasn't sure how he took so much pain in, not only physically but emotionally. she surely would have been broken if she was in his position. but, that was what made her such a good friend for him. perfect match. she understood what he went through, although not to the extent that he endured. losing both parents, not knowing them at all, being a werewolf, searching for who he is. toire knew it was a lot to bare, and felt that she had an obligation to help him through whatever was making him sad. even if she didn't have to, she wanted to. she loved him; he was her best friend. she'd do anything for him. both him, and jayson.
at that point, she wished jayson was there. if he was, she would bet anything that teddy would be in a slightly better mood. jay always knew how to get a smile on the boy's face. she listened to his question, then gulped.
did he really?
she knew what he had done. not to the extent of details, but victoire got the general picture. she could feel her heart sinking. she tried not to collapse, but she felt her knees weakening beneath her. toire took in a deep breath and faced him, shaking her head. "they're a reflection of something, ted. if you do something when you're drunk that you regret, odds are it was something you wouldn't have considered doing while sober. whether or not that was something you really wanted, i can't say. i'm not you. however, it happened for a reason," she said, then turned around and dropped it.
toire didn't want to know anymore.
when he grinned, she smiled lightly and tried to switch her mind to the new subject upon them. breakfast. "let's go,"
she said, feeling his hands on her shoulders. she stared forward, composing herself. they traveled the stairs and then entered the kitchen. apparently, they came down just in time. molly had waited for victoire's side of the family to get there to make their breakfast, and it had just been placed on the table. "look who i found!" she said cheerfully, then smiled back at ted. she turned back around and took a seat. coincidentally, the seat beside hers was open. she knew her family members probably did it on purpose. she knew they had always wanted victoire and teddy to get together. lily, her younger cousin, had spilled the beans to her one night during girl talk. vic smiled at some of her family members, greeting her uncles and aunts with good morning's, as she hadn't gotten to see them before venturing upstairs. she poured herself some pumpkin juice, then loaded her plate with eggs and bacon and passed each over to ted as she was done. her mind was still worried about what he had done, but it wasn't her business. there was no way that teddy would have kissed that girl sober. he wouldn't have even gone to the club if he had been in his right mind last night. the only reason he could think that he would ever even consider doing it drunk was because of the blonde hair. he must have been thinking about victoire. he was stupid. he shouldn't have done it. but he couldn't mope about this all day. eventually, one of their family members were going to come looking to see why they were taking so long. he was surprised someone wasn't already snooping. ginny had always worried about the two of them being alone together. did she think they were going to do something? teddy wasn't that type of guy. sure, he'd love to do...that with victoire. someday. but not now. definitely not now.
he could almost feel the disappointment in the air. but victoire didn't say anything about it, like he had hoped. he wanted her to give him a sign, any sign, that her disappointment was because she wanted him to kiss her. but it just seemed like she didn't like the fact that he had been drinking. she was never going to feel the same god damn way about him, and he was going to have to accept that.
he followed victoire down the stairs and grinned when he saw his family all sitting around the table. he wasn't actually closely related to any of these people, although he had a very very distant relation to the weasley family because his mother was a black. but they were his family just the same. they had accepted them into his house since he was a baby, and harry and ginny had practically raised him. "long night last night?" harry asked, and he just simply nodded and sat down in the open seat next to victoire. although most of the seating arrangements usually changed it up a bit at meals, for some reason teddy's seat was always next to toire. his family was trying to do some matchmaking, it seemed. he just hoped she didn't notice.
"this smells fantastic." he said. and it did. there was everything you could imagine for a breakfast sitting on the large dining table. smoked ham, sitting cut into pieces on a plate right in front of him. bacon, eggs, toast, pancakes. it was all there. his mouth was practically watering. in fact, if victoire hadn't been there, he probably would have lunged at the nearest plate and ate it with his hands. he was starving. 'dig in!' molly said, sitting down in her spot after putting out the last plate, the butter. teddy grabbed the ham, since it was closest and dished a piece out onto his plate. "want some, toire?" he asked, offering to serve her.
dominique glared at him from her spot next to albus. he pretended not to notice.

i'll stop the whole world , i'll stop the whole world from turning into a monster. victoire tried to start eating as soon as possible. she noticed harry starting discussion with ted, where he simply shrugged. he might as well have already been family. toire glanced over at him, wondering what he had done. she really wanted to confess to him she felt something for him. it was beyond friendship. she had come to that conclusion last night, upon staring at the moon and thinking of him. but then jayson had come to mind, and she realized there was something there, too. she concluded that they weren't all just best friends. she had feelings for these boys, and would never be able to choose one of them without hurting the other.the only thing was that she was just hurting herself. she was sure neither of them wanted her, so there was no point in admitting her feelings and ruining her friendships with them. she couldn't lose them. either of them. they both had to stay in her life, or she'd lose it.
her hair fell in front of her as she looked down, thinking to herself. she tried to wipe her thoughts, to lead them to happiness. however, it was hard. ted offered her some ham and she accepted, smiling at him. she glanced over at dominique who was glaring. she flinched. her heart fell. what if ted and her did become something? it would give her sister another reason to hate her. dominique seemed to have something on teddy, especially by the way she glared at him being so nice to her. she couldn't take it anymore.
victoire gulped and took the ham, then ate what was on her plate quickly. she felt like she was shoveling it in, but she didn't want to be there anymore. she couldn't stand being there, with all of the pressure on her. her heart felt as though it would sink into the pit of her stomach, deep into a dark hole never to be seen again. she needed light, happiness. she needed air. toire felt as though she couldn't breathe. she continued eating quickly, then stood and felt herself shaking. "thank you for breakfast, grandma. i'll be outside," she said, then headed out quickly. "victoire, dear, are you okay?" aunt ginny called. toire turned around, on the verge of tears. she nodded. "i'm fine, really,"
she said, nodding reassuringly. she then turned on her heel and went through the back door. then, she ran. victoire ran harder than she'd ever run before. she felt tears stinging her cheeks. her blurred vision only caught glimpses of pinks, purples, and blues as she ran through the garden. she sobbed to herself, opening her mouth to breathe harder. toire finally reached the end of the backyard which led to an open field. she continued running and finally collapsed under one of the trees. she leaned against the tree and buried her head in her knees. why did everything have to be so damn complicated? dominique hated her, ted obviously did something he regretted, she had a horrible headache, and everything seemed to be spinning out of control. she just wanted everyone to be happy, was that so hard? teddy placed a slice of ham on victoire's plate, returning her smile. he was trying to distract her, to keep her from seeing her sister's awful looks from across the table. no one else had seemed to notice yet, which was good. but he knew how terrible victoire felt about dominique's hatred towards her, and he didn't want her to see it. this was going to be a happy, family breakfast. he loaded his plate and began eating, meeting dom's eyes and mouthing the words 'not now' to her. she simply smirked at him, and then switched to glaring daggers at only victoire exclusively, rather than the two of them. he gave her a look of disapproval, before turning back to his breakfast. so there went the happy family breakfast. but if he could eat fast enough and get victoire done, then they could go off and do something fun, just the two of them. or they could hang out with their cousins, the ones who were actually nice people to be around.
victoire had noticed dominique. teddy could tell, by the way she went from eating rather nicely and neatly, to practically forcing the food down her throat as fast as she could. he was going to place a hand on her shoulder and tell her to take it easy when she stood. to someone who didn't know 'toire as well as he did, they would think she was perfectly fine like she said. but he knew better. she was upset.
he couldn't just leave the table and follow her like he wanted to. his family was looking at him, obviously waiting for an explanation. they assumed something had happened between them upstairs, he could see that by the slight disapproval in fleur's eyes. victoire's mother had always intimidated him, more than bill ever had. she was just so..protective of her daughter. and she didn't seem to like him much. he wasn't perfect enough for her, he supposed. she thought he didn't deserve her daughter. which was true, he didn't. 'theodore..did something happen?' molly asked in a soft voice. the oldest weasley woman was the only one (besides his grandmother, andromeda) who insisted on calling him by the name his parents gave him.
he shook his head. "no...i don't know..." had something happened between them? well, sort of. but she wouldn't be acting like this if dominique had left her alone. he met her eyes, and she narrowed them slightly. basically, telling him that he better not rat her out, or she'd go off and tell her sister exactly how he felt about her. teddy stood up, thanking molly for breakfast. "i'm sorry about not finishing it. but i need to go check on victoire." he met harry's eyes, and he nodded. 'tel her we hope she's alright. the poor girl..' molly said, and ginny nodded. teddy practically raced out of the kitchen before he heard anymore. where had she gone?
he raced to the end of the backyard, looking the entire time for her bright blonde hair. where was she? "victoire?! where are you? toire!" he yelled, entering the open field behind the backyard. he was running so fast, he almost missed her, sitting by a tree, curled up in a ball. he practically threw himself over there, wrapping his arms around the girl. "oh god toire, please don't cry. what's wrong?" he pulled her close, huging her as tightly as he could against him. "toire, please. is it my fault? if it is, i'm so sorry. i never want to make you cry."

i'll stop the whole world , i'll stop the whole world from turning into a monster. toire let the winds whisper to her as she tried to focus. she didn't want teddy to show up and see her like that. she didn't want anyone to see her like that. victoire wasn't one to let people in on what she was feeling. it made her weak and vulnerable, and she couldn't be that. she had to be independent and strong for herself, able to withstand anything. she had to ignore everything and suck it up. not everything was going to go her way, but things that were happening were so overwhelming. she didn't know how she was going to push through her sadness and just let go.
she couldn't let go.
holding on was a hard thing, but letting go was worse.
she bit her lower lip as it quivered. her skin went pale, fleeing from warmth that the sun was attempting to provide her. the grass beneath her couldn't penetrate her skin to soothe her, though seemed to poke through the holes in her jeans. toire felt herself shaking. "it'll be okay..." she whispered, over and over. at least, til she felt herself being embraced by a warm body. she resisted. she didn't want comfort or sympathy. she didn't want him to see her crying like this. but he had, and there was no getting around it. this time, she was going to have to admit her inner emotions.
ugh.
"toire, please. is it my fault? if it is, i'm so sorry. i never want to make you cry." she looked up, her face red. her eyes seemed weak and were half-open. victoire shook her head. "it's not you, teddy. it-it's everything. just everything!"
she said, then wrapped her arms around him and buried her head in his shoulder. "i have these constant headaches, i feel bad for bringing back those horrible people, and it seems like i am never going to have a sister again. i just..it's over-overwhelming," she muffled, closing her eyes and taking in his scent. it was soothing her, a bit. she felt her lip quiver as she tried not to cry further. she didn't want teddy to feel responsible for this, which is why she didn't mention his previous night. she didn't want to know. she really didn't want to know what actually happened. all that she knew, and wanted, was that he was there. even though she hated talking about her feelings and expressing them through tears, toire knew this was good for her. it had to be. seeing victoire cry was like seeing a puppy get kicked. it made him feel like his heart was being ripped out of his chest, and made him think that the world would never be good again until she was smiling. victoire was usually so strong, he had only seen her cry a few times in the fifteen or so years that he could remember of his life with her. she was not the type of girl to cry over everything. something had to be seriously wrong to upset her to this degree, and he was worried now. it couldn't have been dominique's looks that made her cry, unless dom had done something else to her older sister. and if she had, teddy would be going to talk to her. they would be having a very serious talk. one that would probably end in a duel. because that was how dominique did things.
normally when teddy hugged victoire, he had a light, happy feeling. but even though he had his arms around her now, all he was wishing is that she would be okay. he didn't care if he never got another hug from her again, as long as she would just smile and be happy. he kissed the top of her head gently, inhaling the spell of her shampoo. she always smelled so good, and it was always the same. he had never actually used amortentia, but he would bet that the familiar scent of the girl he loved was in there.
everything was wrong? why hadn't he gotten a vibe that she was upset before today then? was he such a bad friend that he couldn't even tell that his best friend was worried or upset?
she buried her head in his shoulder, and he just held on, listening to her slightly muffled words. "toire...i'm sure aunt hermione could brew you something for the headaches. have you thought of asking?" he said, knowing that she wouldn't have thought of asking someone for help. victoire was an independent person, and she believed that she always had to do things for herself without asking for someone to help her. but sometimes it seemed like that was all she needed.
and she blamed herself for voldemort coming back? if they had known that he was going to return, they wouldn't have tried reincarnating people after louis weasley had returned. it couldn't have been her fault! she didn't know. "victoire renee weasley." he said, looking at her. "voldemort returning is not your fault. it's all of the paper angels fault, and none of ours. no one knew. if we had, we never would have done it. all we can do is keep bringing back the good people, hoping that will overpower the bad."
he was guilty. if he had just humored dominique when she was younger and let her continue with her school girl crush, maybe she wouldn't have turned on victoire. but he couldn't tell her that her sister hated her because of him, because the pieces just wouldn't add up to her without him explaining how he felt about her. "dominique wasn't glaring at just you. she hates me too. in fact, dom hates the world. you don't want someone that negative in your life, do you?" [/blockquote]
