i'll stop the whole world , i'll stop the whole world from turning into a monster. victoire listened to him carefully, her brain feeding off of his words. she closed her eyes and heard the slight smack of his lips when he said his l's and p's, and felt the vibrations running through her as he said her name. her senses were focused in on him deliberately. toire was trying to focus on him instead of her emotions. as a result, she could feel her heartbeat ease and tears begin to cease. her eyes dried up a bit, and she kept playing his words over and over in her head.
dominique wasn't glaring at just you. she hates me too. in fact, dom hates the world. you don't want someone that negative in your life, do you?"
she breathed deeply into his shirt, trying to take in everything he had to offer. his warmth burned through his clothes and soaked into her cold skin. it was interesting because it was decently warm outside, but of course, a lingering rain hung in the air, waiting to pour. england was notary for its rainy days, and that day looked like one of them. she cleared her throat and then looked up at him, into his eyes. toire gave him a small smile and nodded. "i..i didn't want to ask for help," she sighed. "and i know it wasn't my fault, it's just that sometimes it feels like it, i guess. and...and as for dom, well, of course i don't want someone like that around. but, you can't pick your family - and what am i supposed to do? ignore her and keep her out of my life?"
she asked, raising an eyebrow. it seemed as of late that her own suggestion might just be her answer. vic shook her hair back and took a deep breath in, exhaling is slowly. "i'm sorry for that. really, i am. i hate people seeing me like...well, you already know," she said, then smiled lightly once more. toire wrapped her arms around his shoulders and hugged him tight. "thank you for being here for me teddy." she allowed silence to come between them for the time being. victoire didn't know what to say other than an apology. she figured that ted already knew everything that she could have possibly said. on the other hand, there were things he didn't know. she could have ranted about her dislike for his actions of the previous night, or the fact that maybe just maybe there was something else there between them. victoire had acknowledged that much, that she did actually have some sort of feelings toward ted that she didn't notice before. still, none of that mattered. it would never matter, apparently. but, she tried to focus on being happier. toire pulled away from him and simply stared, a smile crossing her features. she could feel her heartaches slipping away into darkness, and she easily let them go. teddy hoped he would make her realize that nothing was her fault. he knew what it was like to feel guilty, he had the guilt still throbbing behind all of his thoughts like the pain of an injury. but he had put it behind him for now, so he could make victoire happy. maybe he should take his own advice, and not feel guilty. but there were significant differences between the guilt the two of them felt. victoire hadn't done any of the things she felt horrible about. it wasn't her fault that the reincarnations came back, or that dominique was a miserable human being and decided to pin that on her. on his hand, he perfectly deserved to feel terrible. he had gone to that club knowing there would be alcohol, and he wanted some. he drank firewhiskey with the intention of getting drunk. and he knew that getting drunk usually did not end well. although he had just been assuming a hangover and maybe some questions from the family. certainly not this.
he held her tightly, and he was going to do that until he was sure everything was okay. he let out a slight breath of relief when she glanced up and her eyes had dried. he wasn't sure how much longer he would have been able to attempt keeping her happy. seeing her so upset got him feeling the same way, and then it was almost impossible to joke and make her feel better because he was in the same boat as she was. he wiped away the stray tears with his thumb, returning her smile. "i know you didn't. but sometimes you have to. you can't do everything by yourself, as much as you wish you could.
teddy was scared shitless of the fact that they had brought back the wizard who was more or less responsible for his parents deaths. and he would do whatever it took to get his hands on him and kill him, or brainwash him, or do something to fix this. if they did find him, he knew victoire wasn't going to let them hurt him. even if he did deserve it.
he was relieved that victoire didn't inquire about dominique's hatred for him. it would be a rather difficult one to explain. he supposed he could leave it at the fact that she had had a crush on him, but then she could ask him why he didn't go for her little sister. after all, he and dominique had gotten along before she went through that phase of hers that created what she was now.
teddy shook his head. "don't apologize, and don't thank me. i'm your friend, it's part of my job to be here for you." if he wasn't talking to victoire, teddy would have snickered at the line. it was cheesy, and overused. but it was also true. they had been playing together since they were babies, and he had been there for her whenever she needed him and vice versa. cheesiness was required in relationships like theirs. the movies got it right. "and i always will be. so don't let everything bottle up and explode again, alright? ask for help sometimes 'toire. it doesn't make you weak." [/blockquote]

i'll stop the whole world , i'll stop the whole world from turning into a monster. victoire was sure that teddy didn't realize how exponentially intelligent he was. he seemed to know everything, especially when she needed him to have answers the most. toire closed her eyes when he grazed his thumb across her cheeks, wiping away the rest of her tears. she opened them when his touch was lost, and nodded. "just because someone is a friend, doesn't always mean they're a good one. but you are, and i'm grateful for that," she said, in regards to his comment about not thanking him. even though she had a slight argument to his state, she got the idea of what he was saying. she expected the same of him, though. a friendship like theirs was different and strong, and didn't need apologies or acceptance of them. they just knew.
"i'll try. i can't promise you anything, but i'll try to let up some,"
she said, nodding. victore smiled and then hugged him again. she questioned, then chuckled and pulled away. she laid down on the grass and stared up at the branches above her. she thought about how symbolic they were of life in general. it was like the world was a tree, and everyone had their own branch. the big branches were distinct groups, and the people spawned off from them. they were enriched, even growing from, their environment. it was the same with life. people generally were a product of their environment, not their own ideals. the people around them, the visual scene, everything about the atmosphere of one's surroundings influenced their nature. it was quite an interesting train of thought her brain had boarded, though it was true nonetheless. interesting. victoire didn't lay down long, though. she sat up moments later and ran a hand through her hair. "what should we do today?" she asked, a sweet smile dancing at her lips. she knew she probably looked a bit tired, her eyes slightly reddened at the corners. however, she had become in a substantially better mood on the whole. she was curious, of course, of what their plans would be. she leaned forward and rested her head on his shoulder, waiting for him to reply. for some reason, she felt awfully cuddly from that point on. she just wanted to be held. she was sure it was the fact that his hugs were absolutely addicting, as well as his scent. there was something about her teddybear that she found irresistible. one thing she didn't like about it? she was sure other girls found him that way, too. she didn't know why, but that thought was very...irritating to her. teddy was glad that she had stopped crying. this was the victoire he knew, the logical, rational and absolutely amazing girl in front of him. she was smart, and she was strong and she was the most independent person he knew. it scared him a little when victoire got like this, because it just wasn't her. he wondered if she was talking about someone in particular when she commented on friends not always being good. was someone using her? "if they aren't a good friend, then they aren't worth your time. you are too good to deserve someone that doesn't see that."
teddy was a little disappointed when victoire pulled away from him and went to lay down on the grass. he should have seen it coming though, she was feeling better now. while 'toire didn't mind the hugs most of the time, they never really lasted long. he was an extremely touchy person, the type who would hug someone he didn't even know just for fun. but she wasn't, she only hugged someone if they were her friend and worth her time. so he should have expected that once she felt better, she would pull away. "good. when we get back, i want you to go ask aunt hermione about that potion for your headache."
what were they going to do today? he hadn't really given it much thought. usually when the family came to visit, he made up some sort of plan for him and victoire to do something, in case they had the chance to get away from the family. but today he had just been feeling too awful in the morning to come up with someone, so he had no idea. "well, we could go back and join the family..." he really hoped she wouldn't choose that option. he wanted to spend time with her, just them two. it was rare in the summer that they got to do that.
teddy couldn't help grinning when she laid her head on his shoulder. he rested his head on top of hers, thinking of what they could do. "or, we could hang out here for awhile, just us two. i bet we could come up with something interesting to do." [/blockquote]

i'll stop the whole world , i'll stop the whole world from turning into a monster. teddy was always so sweet to her. she quite enjoyed having him around. jayson was nice too, but he was more flirty and into joking around. she loved his company, truly, but ted just always knew how to say the right things when she was in deep need of them. she looked up from his shoulder and kissed his cheek. "thanks," she said, grinning. toire buried her head back in his shoulder and kept listening to him.
"i think i'd much rather figure out something to do out here,"
victoire replied, smiling. she looked up at him and then ran her hand through her hair. toire no longer had the sad features that had been lingering on her face moments ago. instead, she was her normal self. a smile glittered on her face like sparkles, shining in the sun as it touched her. as she looked at him, though, she was wondering what in the world they could possibly do that day. there truly wasn't much to do around the potter residence, spare hang out with their cousins. she didn't really want to do that, though. she needed a bit of space from her family at that exact moment. toire continued to think, then began swaying side to side. "hm, what abouuuuuut...." she dragged on, biting her lower lip as she contemplated. victoire was never very good at coming up with ideas. ted always had the imagination. jay had a good imagination, too. when she was with them, she was usually relieved because they always seemed to come up with fun things for them to do. and most of the time, they were things that they'd never done before. it was quite helpful, really, to have the two of them around. she never grew bored. toire looked at him with raised eyebrows, then giggled. "i have no idea," she said then laughed lightly. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

when victoire kissed him on the cheek, he could feel his cheeks turning red. which wasn't a good sign, because usually that meant his hair would be following. so far, the only downfall to being a metamorphmagi was the fact that it connected with his emotions. so when he was embarrassed, it would go bright right. fire engine red. like he was sure it looked like right now. he was just silently praying that victoire wouldn't notice it. but it was pretty hard to miss, especially because her head was resting on his shoulder. for once, he wished his hair was shorter. then there wouldn't be a chance of her seeing the ends of his hair from the corner of her eye. he would just have to hope.
teddy broke into a smile when she said she would rather stay here, with just him. being around the family was great, but it was really hard for him to react with victoire like he usually did. whenever he and vic got too close, the family would tease them or he would get "i told you so" looks from nearly every woman at the table, and glares from dominique. normally, he could resist hugging her and teasing her around them, but after everything today, he just didn't want to let go of her, not at all.
"well, obviously you aren't going to be much of a help in me figuring this out." he replied, grinning at her. usually when they hung out, it was him that came up with something to do. he tapped a finger to his chin, over-exaggerating his thinking. what could he do, that would get victoire smiling? he grinned. he had an idea. she probably would refuse at first, but he would get her to come around. he was going to take her flying. extreme, quidditch player type flying. after all, she rarely went on a broomstick and she had certainly never experienced the thrill of flying upside down. "and you want her to wrap her arms around you." a little voice in his head whispered, and he shook his head, telling it to shut up. even though it was true. absolutely true.
"what about we go for a ride?" he asked. his intentions were probably clear through the wild grin places on his face, however.

i'll stop the whole world , i'll stop the whole world from turning into a monster. the girl felt like she was awfully small in his arms. he just mad her feel so fragile and dependent. it wasn't a feeling she normally liked, but she had adjusted to this. it was different from her family, or herself versus the world. no. when victoire was with teddy, all felt right. it was the right balance of need and want. he was her best friend, and not even jay made her feel the way that ted made her feel at that exact moment.
she opened her eyes briefly and caught a glimpse of his bright red hair. she grinned. to ted's disbelief, she had caught his hair turned quite a few times the same shade. toire knew it was because of embarrassment. she dared not mention it, though. on one hand, she simply thought that he was embarrassed because she was his best friend. on the other, victoire didn't realize that some of the instances where teddy's head turned red weren't because of actions he took - they were sometimes things vic did. like kissing his cheek, just a few seconds ago. still, she didn't put it together because she always thought it was rather cute when that happened.
teddy began to speak and toire stood up, crossing her arms over her chest and repeatedly shaking her head. "no no no! theodore lupin, don't even think about it!" she said, her eyes closed as she shook her locks back and forth. victoire opened them and stopped, then leaned forward, putting her hands on her knees. "you KNOW how i feel about flying!"

victoire didn't comment on his red hair, which managed to put him at ease, just a bit. he was still slightly worried that she had seen it, but she probably would have asked him about it if she had. after all, they didn't hide anything from each other. except the fact that he was in love with her, of course. that was the only secret he had never told his female best friend. or his male best friend, for that matter. no one except dominique had actual confirmation from teddy about his feelings towards the blonde with her head rested on his shoulder. although pretty much everyone in the potter/weasley gang had guessed. except for victoire, that is. thank god for that. it would be incredibly embarrassing.
his hair was dulling back down, and luckily it had faded back to his normal brown when victoire stood up and looked straight at him. he kept his grin, standing so he could talk right to her. he knew she was going to object and complain and bring up the fact that she didn't like flying. but she wasn't going to be the one steering the broomstick, that would be him. and he knew exactly what he was doing on a broom, he had proved it millions of times. in fact, he was the gryffindor quidditch captain. that meant he could fly pretty damn well. because gryffindor was full of fantastic quidditch players who had a lot of talent. but he had proved himself. and victoire knew he wouldn't let anything hurt her. she would come around, eventually.
teddy just smiled at victoire, even though she was telling him no. he placed his hands on her shoulders, and looked straight at her. "i do know how you feel about flying. but you won't be the one doing the work, i will." he paused, to look into her pretty brown eyes before removing his hands. he laughed, taking out his wand. "plus, you've never experienced flying like this before! come on toire, live a little. have some fun. i'll be on the broom too, and i'll never let you fall. you trust me, don't you?"
he knew he was going to get his way. he always got his way.

i'll stop the whole world , i'll stop the whole world from turning into a monster. victoire was quite certain that he figured he'd get his way. she sighed as he stood up in front of her, placing his hands on her shoulders. she looked into his eyes and frowned. this was going to be hard. she tried looking away, but it was inevitable. toire looked back and stared into those eyes of his, wide and gleaming. he had that little smirk on his face, the one that brought a smile to her features. she bit her bottom lip then sighed, rolling her eyes.
"drop me, and i will never forgive you."
with that, she walked away from him, toward the shed where the brooms were kept. the potters had an assortment of brooms located in the large gardening shed, along with a snitch and other quidditch tools. they wouldn't be using those, though. no, they were just flying. toire tried to keep telling herself that - they were just flying. she felt her heartbeat quicken, but she tried to calm down. victoire reached the shed and pulled it open, looking around briefly. it seemed that there was a bit of clutter. she shook her head and took out her wand. "accio broom!"
she shouted, then watched as a broom popped out from a broomcloset. that was too easy. toire walked back out of the shed and looked up at the sky, wondering just how high up they were going to go. "i hope you're satisfied, ted," she said, frowning. victoire was not looking forward to this at all, but she knew she'd lose some of her nervousness when they got in the air. that was how it always was. she was often way too worried about things before they happened, and then adjusted as they happened. toire gulped and looked at him, waiting for him to sneak her off into the world above them. it was crazy; he was crazy. teddy gazed at her with hopeful eyes, the sort you would see on a dog when it was begging for you to share your dinner with him. he could tell that she was wavering, and he wouldn't stop until she was agreeing to get on that broom with him. toire had been on a broom before obviously, but she didn't like having her feet off the ground. and she had never been able to do the flips and turns that made him love quidditch so much, maybe if she experienced those, she wouldn't be so scared to get off the ground. he grinned at her when she told him not to drop him, and saluted her. "yes ma'am" he said with a grin. "i won't drop you, you can count on me."
he watched as victoire got the broom. if they had been some other family that wasn't so crazy about quidditch, he would have had to sort out which broom to use. but they all had the same broom in the potter/weasley residence, the firebolt three thousand. it was the fastest current racing broom, and it was perfect for quidditch. which was why they all had one, of course. "i'm very satisfied." he replied with a grin.
he could tell she was nervous. "don't be nervous." he told her, giving her a very quick hug. "you'll do fine." he would let her get used to being in the air, raising slowly and just just flying easily at a steady speed. then, when she relaxed a bit, he would begin his little show, with flips and spins and dives. he knew she would probably be screaming in his ear the whole time, but that was alright. it would be like a rollercoaster, although she had probably never been on one of those before. he had gone with a muggleborn friend of his from hogwarts last summer to an amusement park. it was probably one of the most fun things he had ever done. it made him wonder why wizards didn't have them.
he took the broom from her and hopped on. "get on behind me. and remember to hold on tight. i'll start us easy."

i'll stop the whole world , i'll stop the whole world from turning into a monster. don't be nervous? don't be nervous, huh? oh yea, just flying into the air with no support - no big deal. she sighed and bit her lip, then felt his arms around her in a quick hug. she rolled her eyes, not hugging back. if he dropped her, she would be severly pissed. and so would her mother, of course. victoire watched as he mounted the broom, and she listened to him speak. she debated as she looked at him. toire could feel herself shaking slightly, and the slight breeze that came over them didn't help. it wasn't cold, but the wind was swift enough to make an impact on the hairs on her arm.
she stepped forward and paused, then finally took in a deep breath and mounted the broom, wrapping her arms tightly around his waist. "holding on is definitely not something you'll have to worry about." she buried her head in his back and whimpered, then stopped and tried breathing slowly. this was something she just didn't do. there was no overcoming it. toire tried not to tap her foot, but she kept feeling the vibrations shooting up her leg because of it. she was waiting for him to kick off, knowing he was most likely to do it unexpectedly.
the last time victoire was on a broom was when her father tried to ease her into flying. he figured that she might need to know how to fly someday. and really, she did know how to fly. she had learned to fly in her first year at hogwarts, though didn't touch a broom after lessons. toire's father had almost got her used to it, until he accidentally let her slip. he caught her, of course, but victoire hadn't been on a broom since. she hadn't told anyone of the accident, because bill knew that fleur would have gone nazi mom on him. still, it was obvious that she had a high dislike and fear of brooms. toire tried to concentrate and get the negative thoughts out of her head before they took off, squeezing teddy a little harder before they did so.

when he flew, teddy usually didn't think about the consequences of falling off. he didn't care if he crashed or fell, because he was having too much fun. but he couldn't let himself get into that frame of mind this time, because victoire would be on the broom too. he had to make sure she wouldn't fall. if something happened and she did, she wouldn't forgive him. he didn't know if he would be able to handle having victoire giving him the silent treatment for who knows how long. if they got into an accident, he had to make sure it was him that fell off. or he had to get them out of the air as fast as possible. there was no way he was going to let her get hurt.
he smiled when she mounted the broom and wrapped her arms around him, but then he bit his lip and focused. usually he would just kick off and go straight to top speed, but he had to be steady this time. he didn't want to make victoire even more scared of flying than she already was. he wanted this experience to make her see that being off the ground was fun.
so far, it didn't appear to be working. he heard her whimper, and for a moment, pondered over not doing this. "are you sure you want to do this, toire? if you are really that scared, then i'll stop. just tell me, okay?"
he took a deep breath, shifted slightly to make sure victoire was holding on and then nodded to himself. it was time. "i'm going to take off now, so hold on." he reminded her once more, kicking off slowly. they rose into the air, just a few feet at a time, and flew in a slow circle. "see, it isn't that bad." he told her, itching to speed up. this was boring, and it was actually harder for him to go slow and paced than it was for him to speed around. it didn't help that they were sitting on the fastest current racing broom. it wasn't made for steady flying.

i'll stop the whole world , i'll stop the whole world from turning into a monster. "i'm sure," she whispered lightly, then gripped him tighter. toire listened to teddy say he was going to kick off, and she prepared herself mentally. victoire didn't know how it was going to end, but she hoped it'd be with her landing safely on the ground when they were through. before she could take in a breath, ted had kicked off from the ground and she felt her stomach lifting inside of her. victoire gasped as she felt the wind hitting her face, though she was sure it was blocked mostly from ted, even if he wasn't much bigger than herself.
her eyes flickered open and she gulped, looking down. once she was up in the air, it actually wasn't that bad, as he noted. victoire tried not to lean to one side too much, since she knew it'd throw the broom off balance. toire bit her lower lip and continued to look around. she felt her heart slow down, and actually smiled. it felt surprisingly good up there, on the broom, with teddy. she nuzzled into his back then laughed lightly and sighed. "sorry i made such a big deal out of it...it's just the idea right before you get on a broom i guess,"'
she hastened. toire realized that ted was probably going much slower than he would have liked. she also noticed that the broom seemed to be jerking slightly, as though it wanted to ignore its flyer and go faster. "um, teddy, you can go faster if you want," she said, nodding. victoire knew that if they didn't end up going faster, the broom might not work properly afterward. it would be out of whack. plus, she just knew it was killing ted to go so slow. "go ahead. i, i think i'm okay now." [/blockquote][/blockquote]

teddy had always wondered why victoire was so afraid of going up on a broom, but he had never asked. he figured it would either bring up some memories she didn't want to think about or just plain upset her. not to mention the fact that people did had irrational fears, where they were scared of something for absolutely no particular reason. he figured that flying was victoire's. he had yet to find out what his irrational fear was. in fact, he really didn't have that many fears. while others talked about being afraid of spiders or heights, thunderstorms or dogs, he could only think of two things that really scared him. the first, turning into a werewolf fully. and the second, losing victoire. anything else he had encountered in his life was easy to deal with compared to those. he would even rather die before either of them happened.
tedy grinned when he heard he laugh. he had been right, she would warm up to the broom. although she had done it a lot faster than he had expected, which was good. he wasn't sure how long he would be able to keep the broom this steady for. so when she told him he could speed up, he couldn't stop a huge smile from crossing his face. "awesome!" he said, slowly speeding them up. he wasn't going to get them to the full speed potential of the broom of course, since it would be too hard to handle that with victoire on his back. but they would certainly get fast enough to appear to be just a blur in the sky. he flew around the field in circles, each circle increasing the speed just a little more.
eventually, they were going fast enough that teddy's hair was whipping backward, and the wind was hitting his face pretty hard. victoire would be shielded from most of that, which sucked for her. he thought it was one of the best parts of flying. he sped up a little more, and the turns for his circles became a little sharper. he yelled, not able to contain the absolute awesome feeling he got when he was flying. when he was flying, he didn't think. which probably explained the fact that he yelled, "get ready for the ride of your life, baby!" without realizing how awkward that could sound. he sped up a little more, focusing. it was time to give this ride a little extra. he dove down quickly, speeding towards the ground.
then, just as they would have hit the grass and been thrown on the broom, he turned sharply upwards, bringing them back even higher in the air than the were before. "how was that?!" he yelled, not particularly asking victoire. his voice was breathless with excitement, and he sped around, getting ready to do some flips. he hoped victoire really was holding on. or she'd be falling off when they went upside down. he flipped once, to get her used to it. damn, this was fun. i'll stop the whole world , i'll stop the whole world from turning into a monster. victoire tightened her hold on the boy in front of her, preparing for the take off. instead, she couldn't help but laugh hard at his next statement. "get ready for the ride of your life, baby!" her laughter carried into the swift wind as they sped up, the pressure of the air around them softening against her ear drums. she nestled her face into his back and closed her eyes, enjoying the closeness between them. she breathed his scent, noting that it was sucked into the wind and began to swirl around her form. everything smelled of teddy, which was only a bit more than perfectly enjoyable.
when the broom turned and she felt as though she would fall right off into the air, victoire opened her eyes. they grew wide as she focused in on the scene before her. ted's hair whipped back behind his shoulders, into her space, and they seemed to be crashing toward the ground. she yelled out, crossing her ankles and holding onto him tighter than she had before. just before they would have hit the ground, teddy steered the broom up and they sped back into the sky. she could feel her heart racing, but it was very exciting. toire heard him yell through the air and she laughed, nuzzling back into him as she waited for more to come. it actually had become pretty fun, just as he'd said.
they flipped upside down, and toire felt herself laughing hard through the turns. she watched as her hair fell down before her, feeling the breeze rush up her nose. victoire laughed and licked her lips, slightly dry from the wind against them. she leaned forward and put her head against ted's back, closing her eyes. she felt her inside turn, her stomach flipping along as they did on the broom. victoire laughed here and there, knowing that teddy was certainly enjoying himself. to be honest, she never really saw him as happy as he was whenever he had the pleasure of being on a broomstick.
