"I have little interest in spel- I'm boring you, aren't I?" the young man said, with an amused grin. It was okay. He was used to it. He mostly talked to hear himself talk half the time. It made him less bored, and sort of eased the nagging loneliness he felt every so often.
"I can get to my book if that would be better. I live to please.'"
As she confirmed that she had a sister, Alex nodded. If his memory served, Victoire was a blond and very pretty.
"I don't much care for blondes. Never have," was all he said on the matter. He had a vague feeling that her sister was a sore point, as often older siblings were. Hell, it was already obvious. Alex didn't want to pry; he wasn't that type of person. If someone wanted to tell him things, he'd listen, but a person's private life was just that- their private life.
"I never really have the time. I live in a predominately Muggle town and can't really practice at home. I'd really love to, though. Quidditch is my favorite sport, hands down."

dominique hadn't exactly been hiding the bored expression on her face from him. talking about school wasn't exactly her idea of fun, and potions just bored her. she had been asking for it though, continuing the conversation when he brought it up. but she would rather be talking about something more fun, quidditch or just plain random things. news. there hadn't been any interesting news lately though. she had been going back and reading old daily prophets from when voldemort had returned the first time. those reports had been interesting. she had read all of them from that time, the ones where harry potter was accused of being a liar to the ones celebrating the dark lord's death. she wondered how all those people would feel when they found out he was back. they wouldn't be too happy, she assumed.
dominique shrugged. she really wasn't in the mood for reading anymore. "so, mr potions fanatic. do you think about anything besides brewing? any hobbies?"
doninique just shook her head when he said he didn't have a thing for blondes. everyone had a thing for victoire, even if they didn't like blondes. she used her veela powers on every boy she met purposely, because she was a slut. she was leading on both her friends, teddy lupin and jayson abercrombie. teddy obviously thought he was madly in love with her, and dom wouldn't be surprised if jayson did too. but they weren't. victoire was just leading them around like lost puppies. eventually, they would realize that she was a lying sneak. everyone would. "i'm sure." she replied sarcastically.
dominique would die without quidditch in the summer. it was the only thing she could do with her family that didn't drive her absolutely insane. "you could practice at school. i know plenty of people from muggle families who can't play in the summer, but they just do the best they can. flying isn't hard. it's all about instinct"

"Hobbies? Umm... I'm a blue belt in the Muggle Sport of Taekwando. I began learning when I was a little boy and I take up classes every break when I go home. I garden. I cook. I enjoy baking actually, but I'm not nearly as good as my dad. I workout every morning and practice my martial arts once a week to stay in shape. That's about it," the boy said, thinking.
He began to really realize that other than his martial arts, Alex didn't really have much excitement in his life. He frowned at the thought, and wondered if he should actually pursue a new hobby to entertain him at Hogwarts. Alex supposed it would be fun to expand his repertoire a bit more.
And the girl obviously had issues with her sister she needed to work out. It wasn't his place. He ignored the sarcasm. He knew who he was and what kind of person he would be interested in having a relationship with.
He nodded in agreement.
"I could practice at school, but I've never really given it a thought. I learned to fly like any first year and never really paid it anymore attention. "

being a pureblood, dominique didn't have much idea about muggle things. she prefered to do everything the wizarding way, because that was who she was. she was a witch, why not use that magic rather than forgetting her heritage and doing muggle things? she had stated that a family dinner once, and aunt hermione had thrown a fit. she was all about "equality" and "muggles being equal to wizards". in fact, she never stopped talking about it, and when she heard that, she nearly had a heart attack. then, dominique was put through a tirade that she didn't listen to about muggle's rights. boring.
so naturally, she had no idea what tae kwon do was, or what the significance of a coloured belt was. to her, it sounded like some kind of extreme cooking show where they made thai food. and she had gardened with her mum before, and it had been boring, terrible and dirty. not to mention the fact that they had to get the stupid lawn gnomes out of there, which was hard work. after trying it once, she had had enough of attempting to grow flowers. she let fleur stick to that. after all, her name did mean flower in french. but cooking and baking, dom had experience with that. more baking than cooking though. it was pretty fun, and she loved making cookies.
"well, i don't know what the first thing is, but everything else sounds alright. i do some baking, although not too often because we have house elves that try to shoo me out of the kitchen."
she wondered exactly how basic his flying sills were, and how much of a challenge it would be to teach him how to fly. because then she would have someone to play with in case she didn't make the team. she played often with her cousins, but she knew they would all get on the team and if she didn't, they would forget about her. "well, maybe we can fly together one day and i could give you some pointers."

"I'm sorry. I tend to forget that a lot of people don't have much experience with the Muggle World. Taekwando is a form of martial arts, Muggle fighting. A blue belt is a higher level, but not yet a mastery of, the fighting styles. I'd probably go crazy with the House Elves. I would go crazy not being able to cook in the summer. I'm not as good as my dad, but I love to cook. And bake. Especially cookies."
Alex loved chocolate chip cookies.
He looked down at his potions book, and felt odd that he hadn't really minded conversing with the girl rather than studying as he usually did. She seemed to be a total opposite to him, and in a way it intrigued the young Ravenclaw.
When the redhead offered to fly with him, Alex smiled. He was about to politely decline, but he stopped. What harm could it do? He'd already read through the NEWT level potions book in his lap and found only a few of the recipes to be of any real difficulty to him.
So, instead, the Ravenclaw nodded.
"Thank you, Miss Dominique. I rather like that idea," he said, pleased with himself for being a bit more proactive than usual.
