robyn danelle richards.IF YOU'LL BE MY STAR, I'LL BE YOUR SKY. YOU CAN HIDE UNDERNEATH ME AND COME OUT AT NIGHT. -------------------------------------------------------------- it was a calm day out on the quidditch pitch, though a bit chilly. robyn hadn't really came out here to practice, not today. she was here to study. after all, she had a test coming up. yeah, quidditch was important and all, but so were her grades! robyn never really stressed out over anything, but she did worry. she wasn't, like, going to have a panic attack or anything.. well.. if she passed she wouldn't. robyn was one of those 'extroverted' people, who didn't mind letting other people know when she was upset. after all, if she failed something that would be hard to keep in!
with a bit of a sigh she made her way over to the benches and sat down. it was sunday morning, and while she'd already had breakfast and prepared for the day, most students were still sleeping, which was fine by her. usually she wouldn't want to be all by herself, but right now she needed to study, so the loneliness didn't seem so bad. with a grunt she pulled her 'muggle studies' book into her lap. muggle studies, it had always been one of her favorite subjects. it was just fascinating to see the way they lived.
her head tilted downward and her eyes scanned from side to side as she read over the latest chapter. robyn's eyes got distant as she lost herself in the world of muggle studies.

the day was absolutely beautiful. lysander couldn't stay inside on a day like today, there was absolutely no way he could stay still indoors when the lovely autumn weather was calling to him. leaves turning red, washing away my summer / reminds me of my love for you he thought, and then he tried to put a melody to the words. recently, ly has been getting song lyrics in his head at the most random times, and usually they never amounted to anything. they were usually too cheesy, or too overdone to use, and this one really wasn't any different. but he still hummed it in his head as he exited the school and headed down to the quidditch pitch. he really wasn't too good at playing, but he loves watching the people speed around on their broomsticks. they looked like little bird, fighting against a heavy wind to stay in the air.
lysander dug into his pocket, pulling out a lollipop he had there from his last visit to honeydukes. he unwrapped it carefully and stuck it in his mouth, as he walked down the path bringing him to the pitch. it was still fairly early, so there was probably not going to be anyone practising. but he could still sit in the stand and relax, and then when the teams did show up, cheer them on with encouraging words. but when he got to the stands, he wasn't the only one there. a girl, with golden hair was sitting in the stands, reading a book. he cocked his head sideways, trying to read the cover. it was a muggle studies book, interesting. he had never met a witch that liked that class. "i know how to use a computer." he piped up, trying to start conversation. it would probably interest her, if she liked muggle studies. he sat down a little bit away from her, licking his lollipop. he wondered if his tongue was purple yet. his lollipop was blue, and his tongue was pink, so that meant it would turn purple, right?

robyn danelle richards.IF YOU'LL BE MY STAR, I'LL BE YOUR SKY. YOU CAN HIDE UNDERNEATH ME AND COME OUT AT NIGHT. -------------------------------------------------------------- the girl read her book diligently, not really minding at all. a lot of people complained about having to read and study, but robyn really enjoyed it. she was quite the nerd, and she knew it. in fact, it was hard to come by someone who enjoyed every subject as much as she did. well, that wasn't completely true. after all, she didn't like herbology too much. it was okay, and she never complained about it, but she really just didn't like all of the plants. there were too many bees who liked to fly around them. she shuddered at the thought and pushed herbology from her mind. that was something she would worry about when she had to go to that class.
"i know how to use a computer."
she jumped quite harshly, and grabbed her chest. she took a few deep breaths and turned to look at the boy who had interrupted her reading. she wasn't angry at all, because how many normal people would be so engrossed in a muggle studies book that they wouldn't notice someone else walking across the pitch? she took a moment to look at the boy. he had dirty blonde hair, and a purple tongue. she smiled warmly at him, and set her book down. "really now? is it interesting? how does it work?" the ravenclaw's inquisitive nature pushed any doubts about who he might be from her mind. after all, she was pretty sure she'd seen him around, and that he was a fellow ravenclaw. she turned her whole body toward him, placing her hands in her now empty lap.
with a bit of a grin she parted her lips again to speak, "by the way, i'm robyn." she said. growing up with william had taught her manners, and no matter how much she would rather ignore exchanging names and pleasantries, she simply couldn't. it wasn't exactly something that had been 'beaten' into her, but she'd gotten punished for it enough as a young child for it to be a habit. in any case, it was the right thing to do. most purebloods made it a point to find out who they were talking to so they would know if the person was 'worthy'. robyn wasn't like that, she really didn't care.. she didn't want to disappoint her family or anything, but she was just too nice to care that much about blood status.

lysander crossed his legs, fiddling with the lollipop in his mouth. he really just wanted to get to the gum on the inside, then he'd be happy. he waited for the girl to reply, wondering if her book had any cool pictures in it. lysander wasn't a reader, which was fairly strange because everyone else in his family was. in fact, his mother was the author of the quibbler, a quite popular magazine where she basically talked nonsense. sometimes he read her articles, but more often than that, he had already heard the story from his mother, so it wasn't interesting. but pictures, they sure were cool. he ran a hand through his hair, messing it up a bit more than it was already.
lysander returned the smile that the girl gave him. it was nice, that someone appreciated all the work muggles had done to try and live the best life they could, without magic. if ly had a choice, he would have every single muggle marry a wizard, so they would always get to experience some magic. it just wasn't fair that they didn't get to see the amazing things he did everyday. like a spell that had turned the sky purple. that had made him gasp, it had looked just like the world he had lived in when he was a child, the world that was still built in his mind. "well, you press a button and the thing basically turned on. there's this thing called a mouse, i really don't know why they call it that because it doesn't look like a mouse, that you use to click stuff, and a keyboard to type words."
he leaned forward, as if he was telling her a secret. "it is really sort of boring. i mean, i don't understand why they don't just speak to one another through the telephone. it is way more interesting. i could hear my brothers voice through it, but he was in another room!" the look on his face was probably comical, wide eyes, and a lollipop stick hanging out of his mouth. but regardless of that, he smiled and extended a hand when she introduced herself. "lysander. you know, i realy like your name. were you named after the bird? because i fine them quite pretty. especially their eggs though. they are such a nice blue. ravenclaw blue."

robyn danelle richards.IF YOU'LL BE MY STAR, I'LL BE YOUR SKY. YOU CAN HIDE UNDERNEATH ME AND COME OUT AT NIGHT. -------------------------------------------------------------- when the boy returned her smile, she felt happiness rise up in her gut. he was very kind, and she loved meeting kind people. she couldn't stand people who were stuck up their own asses, much like she had been when she was younger. the girl ran a hand through her long, curly locks and listened intently as he told her about computers. it was all so interesting. muggles lived such strange lives, and sometimes she felt pity for them. they had worked so hard to achieve things without magic. in her eyes, they were very worthy of wielding magic. yeah, so what if they weren't 'pureblood'. she actually didn't even understand the difference, even though william had tried to explain it to her many times. all pureblood families were was a long line of witches and wizards.. but if a muggle possesses magic, doesn't that make them as much of a witch or wizard as a pureblood? in many's eyes, no, but her eyes, yes.
the boy went on to say that computer's were really boring, and that he didn't understand why muggles would rather use them instead of telephones. her eyes widened a bit. how could think something like that was boring?! it was probably one of the most interesting things anyone had ever told her, and she was dying to know more. sometimes she wanted to just go live with a muggle family for a few weeks. their peculiar way of life appealed to her, and she would very much like to study it. after she looked at him for a moment and took in all that he had said, she grinned hugely. "how can you think that's boring!?" she exclaimed, throwing her hands over her head in fake exasperation. "that's one of the coolest things i've ever heard! how do you know so much about all of this muggle stuff? can you show me? wait, of course you can't, you wouldn't bring it with you to school... or would you?" she tilted her head to the side, and smiled. robyn was just one of those people with a very big personality and she didn't mind that it made her a little odd.
"my name? you think its pretty? hmm.. cool! well the way i got my name is sorta interesting i guess." she shrugged a little. "when my mother was pregnant with me, a robin made her nest on my mother's windowsill. she said that sometimes she would sit and talk to the bird, she told the bird everything about herself, and the bird always seemed to be listening. she watched as the bird raised her babies, and when they flew away, so did the bird, carrying all of her secrets with it. she decided that she would name me after the bird, but spelled my name with a 'y' so it would be more unique," she finished her quite long story and then looked up at the sky. it was clear, and the air was crisp. yes, fall was amazing. she turned back to the boy she now knew as lysander. "sorry if i talked your ears off, lysander is a pretty cool name too. any stories about it?"

lysander shrugged when she asked how he couldn't think that the computer was cool. he took his lollipop out of his mouth, it was rather small and he would be at the gum soon, so he could talk. "i dunno...it's just so informal. it's sort of like reading a book, just on a machine. and i'm not much of a reader, although i can tell you are. you would probably like a computer. i'd much rather be on a telephone, listening to someone talk than reading what they have to say" he grinned, a lopsided grin and placed his candy back in his mouth, trying to bite down on it to see if the hard candy on top of the gum would crack yet. no such luck.
most people were confused as to why lysander knew so much about muggle stuff. he was a pureblood wizard, so he never had the chance to have a muggle upbringing or any of that sort of thing. it was all his aunt, from his dad's side that let him learn about muggle life. "my aunt, she's a squib." he said. a lot of people would say that made her some sort of traitor to the family, but it wasn't her fault she had no magic. she deserved magic, more than half of the wizards he knew. "and yeah, um, i don't have any with me at school obviously. but maybe one day during break i could see if you could come visit my aunt with me. i think she'd like you. you're happy."
he didn't know if happy was the right word. he couldn't place it, but the girl had a good aura. like she was a good person, and you could tell it from one look at her. he listened to her story about how she got her name, listening intently. robin, you know it all/now fly away forever/hide the secrets i told to you/never for another soul to hear he thought, and tried to put a melody to it. but then she asked him about his name, so he had to abandon the search for the tune. "with a y? that's unique. i like it." robyn. nice name. fun. light, and it was nice. "um, well, my twin brother was named after my grandfather, and his name was lorcan. so i think they just wanted another name that started with an l to match it. i never really asked about why it was my name"'
