Victoire Weasley studied the names on the Memorial Well thoughtfully. Names upon names were inscribed into its stone sides, the uncle she would never meet, her best friend Teddy’s parents who he would never know, her own parent’s names, her grandparents, everyone who had taken part of the Second Wizard War fighting on the side of Harry Potter. Even the name of the supposed Death Eater Severus Snape was carved onto the well.
As the leader of the Paper Angels, Vic had an important job to do: reincarnate the souls of those who had wrongly died during the war. As such, Vic often came here to this well to remember what she was doing and why. Lately she had begun questioning her and the Paper Angel’s motives. Recent events had thrown into light a serious problem: because the good people could come back so could the bad. Still, success like those of Lily Evans, Godric Gryffindor, Sirius Black, James Potter, and Alice Longbottom giver her hope and restore her faith in her Angels.

teddy had been staring out the window of the library when he saw a very familiar blonde leave the school. now, most people would probably ask why teddy lupin was in the library in the first place, because everyone knew it wasn't to do work. teddy lupin never did homework, never studied and certainly did not spend his time in rooms full of books. this, of course meant he wasn't doing very well in his classes. which meant that he was forced to get a tutor. that was why he was in the library. theodore lupin was being tutored for history of magic. luck enough however, his tutor really didn't care whether or not he passed. so when he stood up and left the library, there was no fight. there was no way teddy was going to miss a chance to talk to victoire alone.
it didn't take long for teddy to get outside. he had run through the corridors like there was fire chasing him. the trio was a popular group of people, so if someone caught up to victoire before him, his chance of talking to her alone was gone. it wasn't until after he got outside that he realized he hadn't even checked to see where she had gone. so he glanced around the grounds, looking for her familiar blonde hair. it wasn't hard to miss, right by the memorial well. he paused. that place didn't really bring out good memories for him. he didn't like to think about his parents dying before he even got the chance to learn their faces. but this was victoire, and she was worth it. "hey 'toire. whatcha doin?"

Victoire was a popular girl and these moments of solidarity were few an d far between. She was rather enjoying the silence that came with being by herself, not that she would ever tell anyone. To everyone else in Hogwarts she, Teddy and Jay were often the center of social doings. Victoire really didn’t understand why people liked hanging around with them so much, well, actually she understood the boys. They were both brilliant, nice, funny, kind. It was herself she didn’t understand, but now was not the time for self-evaluation.
Victoire circled the well again, studying the names. Other than coming here for a reminder she was also here for inspiration. These names were useful to her and the Paper Angels as a source of people to reincarnate. There was going to be a meeting sometime soon and each member submitted a name, including herself. Victoire eyed the name of Albus Dumbledore. To bring back Dumbledore. How amazing would that be? Her gold-hazel eyes wandered to the name beside Dumbledore’s: Severus Snape. What if they brought bsck Severus Snape? Gave him a second chance at a life he had made so many mistakes in the first time.
"hey 'toire. whatcha doin?" A familiar voice said behind her.
Victoire turned around, a ready smile on her naturally full, pink lips. “Hey Teddy,” she said to her long-time best friend, Teddy Lupin. Teddy was a handsome boy, same year as her, a metamorphmargi, and one of her partners in crime. Just seeing him made her mood lighten, he always knew how to make her laugh. But right now she was a little confused. Why was he here? He hated the Memorial Well. Quickly Victoire moved away from the Memorial Well, hoping to pull Teddy with her away from the thing that made him sad. “I’m not doing much, just wandering, you know.”

teddy eyed the memorial wall quickly, before looking away. this place upset him, which was to be expected. after all, his parents names were both up there. many of the names up there were people he had heard so many stories about, and lots of those people had been brought back. sometimes teddy thought about what it would be like, to have his parents brought back. but then he remembered that their memories would be wiped clean, they wouldn't remember anything about him. that would hurt him more than the fact that they were dead. could you imagine, being a forgotten child? he would have to see them everyday, in a body younger than the one he was in now. he would watch them lead new lives. what if they never met one another again? then he would see his parents fall in love with other people, have children that were technically his siblings, and they wouldn't know anything about their son, two years older than them.
sometimes it seemed like the paper angels were hiding something from him. like they had brought back one of his parents without telling him, keeping it a secret so he wouldn't seek them out and disrupt their new lives. after all, the point of reincarnating these people were not to allow them to continue living, it was to let them live again. many of the people would have regrets from their past lives, and the paper angels didn't want any of the reincarnations to experience that. they were brought back because they deserved to live. him knowing that his parents had been brought back could get in the way of that. but he still wished they would tell him if they were back on this earth. even if they didn't tell him who. he didn't want jay and toire keeping secrets from him.
victoire smiled at him, and so he grinned back. the girl was so beautiful, how could someone not smile at her? granted, he was biased because she was his best friend, and he had been in love with her since his third year, but that didn't change anything. even a blind person would be able to tell toire was beautiful, it was her aura. pure, innocent beauty. "just wanted to get out of the castle?"

Victoire smiled encouragingly at Teddy and his wonderful smile answered her. Back when they were kids Victoire would have sworn up and down that she was going to marry Teddy Lupin someday. Now, year later, she had considered it more seriously. Who wouldn’t? He was her best friend since birth and knew everything about her. She’d give anything just to see him smile but she loved him like a brother.
"just wanted to get out of the castle?" he said. Yes, Victoire thought, just like a brother; a handsome brother she had once had a crush on...that wasn't weird was it?
“Yea,” Victoire said, “just had to get away, you know? Sometimes it can feel so claustrophobic in there. What are you doing out there?"From what she could tell, Teddy wasn't comfortable at the moment, which was completely understandable.

teddy only felt completely comfortable being himself when he was with victoire. around everyone else, it always seemed like he had to be the teddy lupin that he was most of the time, happy, hilarious, just the fun guy to be around. he couldn't let that down around anyone else, or it would completely change what they thought of him. the only person he could be weak around was victoire, because she had been his best friend for so long, that he couldn't hide anything from her. they had gone through all the stages of growing up together, from playing together in a play pen to avoiding each other because they were scared of cooties. from playing manhunt in the backyard, to studying for their first test in potions class. from the awkward stages of puberty, to the moment they stood in now.
he nodded at her explanation of why she was out there. hogwarts was a huge place, a fantastic place. but sometimes, he felt like he had to get out of there. it was more an escape from the people, rather than the school. the castle was great. plenty of places to explore. he was sure that he and jayson probably knew the more secret places than anyone else at hogwarts, and they definitely didn't even know the entire school. he would doubt it if anyone knew everything about hogwarts. it was so top secret and mysterious. not to mention huge. "needed to get out for awhile too. just got out of tutoring, it was brutal."

Victoire giggled. Teddy? Studying? The idea was ludicrous. She had known that he was seeing a tutor but the thought of her best friend actually studying still made her laugh. “Still can’t see you actually going into the library mate,” she teased as they continued to walk across the castle grounds away from the Memorial Wall.
As they walked Victoire felt completely at ease. It had been a long time since she had spent any real quality time with Teddy. At least, not an real quality time with just them, no one else. That wasn’t to say that Victoire liked Teddy better their other best friend Jay, but Teddy had known her longer, a lot longer, and sometimes it was good to spend time with someone who had known you your entire life.
“You know what, Teddy?” Victoire said offhandedly, looking up at the clear blue sky. “I feel like something big is about to happen, something really big. I don’t know what though. What do you think? Maybe the sky will start raining pumpkin pasties or something,” Victoire laughed.

teddy very rarely listened to what his tutor was saying during their sessions. that was why after the first couple failed meetings, his tutor just resorted to bringing his own homework to do while teddy sat and stared out the window, or changed his hair into different colours. once, he had even helped his tutor with a project on metamorphmagi's. his tutor had probably learned more from him in their sessions than he had. he just wasn't interested in learning the material, and victoire knew that about him. besides those once every two weeks or so meetings, he would never set foot in the library. "it's so horrifying." he replied with a grin.
teddy looped his right arm through victoire's left, so they were linked as they walked. it was a bit of a risky thing to do, but he had seen friends do it all the time, so maybe she would just believe it was a totally normal gesture. teddy followed her gaze up to the sky, thinking about her words carefully. he had had that feeling that something was going on too, something big. the paper angels were getting more serious. they had reincarnated so many people. but maybe there was something else going on. something that would change the world as he knew it. "i think it'll be a bit larger than raining pastries, toire. i feel something too. i wish i knew what it was. it's unsettling."
