SOMETHINGS WE DON'T TALK ABOUT RATHER DO WITHOUT JUST HOLD THE SMILE - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Matthew Hopkins had procrastinated quite enough for the first month of classes. It was due time for him to actually do a homework assignment, although most of it was reading. While Matt would ignore the reading, he would, however, bull this small Transfiguration assignment. It was only needed to be a couple of paragraphs explaining the key elements to keep in mind while trying to transfigure something. Instead of going to the library, Matt took his Transfiguration book, which he had yet to open, a piece of parchment, and his quill off to the Great Hall.
The way Matthew figured, some people used the hall to study. Why shouldn't he? Sure, the library was the smart choice but, he wasn't in Hufflepuff because he was smart - not that he was stupid either. The great hall just seemed to him to be his best bet. There could be distractions...like food. If his stomach told him he should eat, than he would eat over doing this assignment. Matt had promised his parents would not get any other letters from his professors, complaining that he doesn't do his work. Matt was just...well, lazy for lack of a better term.
After he had himself settled down, at the end of the Hufflepuff table, Matt attempted to work. He managed a few sentences. Then, distraction hit him. As he was thinking about it, a plate of warm apple turnovers appeared before him. Matt licked his lips. They looked so good. He glanced down. Eh, Transfiguration could wait - apple turnovers could not. He pushed his paper and book off to his left, and pulled the plate of turnovers in front of him. Matthew rubbed his hands together, and tucked a napkin neatly into the neck of his shirt (he hated getting crumbs all over) and starting nomming on the sweet deliciousness of the turnovers he loved.

Evelyn sat on her four poster bed, knees pulled up to her chest, staring at her open potions homework and empty parchment. She sighed softly, it was not the homework kind of day today; yes she liked potions but her mind was a wandering to every other subject anyone could think of. She slammed her book shut, Oh forget it! She thought to herself as she placed the book on her pillow. She sighed once again and looked around the room, deserted. As she pushed herself off the bed she pushed her bangs back and walked out heading no where in particular. As she passed people she looked at almost everyone, sort of a habit she picked up; to the people that looked back she smiled sweetly at them as she found herself wandering the halls feeling like a weirdo.
She couldn't decide where to go, she walked into the library and picked up the first book she saw; she could not concentrate for all the loud and rude people being around. There were so many kids in the library today, she shook her head as she set the book back down and walked out thinking of where to go as she walked down the staircase. Evelyn did not have many, if any, friends at Hogwarts so it is not like she could just look for someone to hang out with. She ended up walking in to the great hall looking around; not too many people, however, she spotted her fellow Hufflepuff boy friend. He was pretty cute, even with the napkin. She smiled and walked up behind him smirking as she coverd his eyes with her hands. "Hello! guess who?!" She asked as she giggled slightly.

All thoughts of anything dealing with Transfiguration or homework at all had left Matt's mind with the first bit into the first turnover. He let out a contented sigh as he ate the first one. Oh but one would not be enough. Matt would sit here and eat until that whole plate was gone, or until he exploded. Probably the latter. In fact, there was nothing in the young boy's mind except the food that was in front of him. Matt was on a mission - to eat as many turnovers as his stomach allowed him to. He lost all conciousness of anything around him, and completely did not notice anyone approaching behind him.
Matthew nearly choked, being taken by surprise by a mysterious female. It made him instantly nervous and feeling a bit awkward. He was not fan of surprises of guess who games. He was afraid of guessing wrong and offending someoe. "Um.." he voiced out, legitimately trying to put a face and name to the voice. "...well, you definitely are not a professor...or my grandmother, you don't have wrinkley hands...hrmm.." He paused and set down the half eaten turnover in his hand. "Can I have a hint?" he asked, sounding hopefull.
Matthew really had no idea who it was. It was probably something extremely obvious. How many girls would actually play this game with him? Zero, in his opinion...unless they were really close friends. Matt knew he did not have any really close friends, that were of the female sort. Well, who ever this was, he imagined her to be very pretty. She had soft hands from what he could feel. That was generally a good sign.

She smiled as she saw him struggling to guess, she did not really think he would know she just wanted to scare him. He reminded her of a little kid sometimes, but it a good way. She hoped that he wouldn't find her creepy or anything like that since she sort of just came up on him. She sat down next to him and smiled sweetly. "Hey, i haven't heard from you in a while i was just wondering how you were doing and all that." She said to him feeling a little bit nervous for no particular reason that she new. She started fiddling with her hair; this was weird for her, Evelyn did not get nervous over talking to a boy, no matter what they were talking about. She started at him for a bit wondering if he thought she was weird or not, whenever she felt insecure she always second guessed herself and she also felt scared of what other people thought of her. She shook her head feeling silly and took her attention back to him.

It felt like ages to Matthew for trying to guess. He was absolutely clueless, which left him feeling nervous and a tad awkward. If it would not have seemed rude, Matt would have let out a sigh of relief when the mysterious girl reveiled herself. He smiled slightly to see it was indeed a friend, a fellow Hufflepuff girl. Sure, Evelyn was a year younger than Matt was but, he did not really give an arse. She was a very pretty girl, and that fact in itself made him quite nervous around her. Matt was even more so now that he had developed some sort of feelings for her. It might only be a crush but, he knew that he liked her.
"M-me?" he said, a bit surprised. Oh, well der. They were friends. Friends do sometimes think about other friends in the just friends sort of way. Matt tried not to get his hopes up over that. He was suddenly concious of the napkin stuff in his shirt. I probably look like a gigantic dork, he thought to himself and hasitly pulled it out. "Ohhhhh, I've been alright, I suppose. Just..doing the usual...eating until I explode and avoiding school work at all costs," Matt replied. He smiled crookedly and rubbed the back of his neck.
Matt subconciously started bouncing his leg under the table. He had to clamp his hand down on his knee to make it stop. "So, um, how have...um, how have you been?" he asked, in that awkward-teenage-boy way. Here was a perfect opporunity for him to ask her out on a date but, Matt knew he would be extremely akward about it. If his hand started sweating, he would shrivel into the most awkward acting kid in school. It really was not that hard of a question. He'd heard people say it all the time. He only had to sputter out eight or nine words but, to him that felt like reading the whole dictionary out loud to a crowd of people.

She smiled sweetly at him, she could tell he was nervous, this made her feel very good about herself. She has always been extremely self conscious and of course she never believed or took a compliment; This of course annoyed people and drove them away, however, at this moment she felt very pretty and she was enjoying this. The boy was so cute when he was nervous, she touched his arm reassuringly. "Well I'm delighted to hear you are doing well" She smiled at him, he was getting more nervous by the second, she felt his leg shake for a moment and giggled silently to herself. She felt like she was waiting for something, she did want to admit it to herself but she undoubtedly knew what she was waiting for him to ask her for. She also felt that she would be waiting for it forever.
She took in a deep breath before she answered his question, "Oh, I am doing just fine and yes I too am avoiding my school work. Maybe one day when we are both avoiding our work we could hang out?"She asked the boy hopefully. She wasn't sure if the boy liked her enough to hang out with her or not, or if he liked her at all. She hoped her offer would make him choose if it was a date or not. She did not want to have to guess if it would be or wouldn't be, and she was a little frightened to ask if it was or not. She tried not to feel hopeful for she new that only brought disappointment but deep down she knew that she was hoping.
