She started braiding the bottom of her hair, she did this sometimes while she was just sitting around. "Well I meant BEST Friend. she said chuckling at her wrong words. But he was pretty sneaky and very annoying at times so I mostly hung around me daddy." She laughed, I guess nest friends could sound dirty, whatever it was that she had just made up. she let go of her hair, sighed and looked back up at him. "Yes, you are right about that no doubt, but you have to learn what the truth it and what a joke is, I figure if you can't take a joke you will be mad most of your life. Of course if you dish it out you have to take what comes back to you as well." She said seriously, a lot of people she joked around with would get mad at certain comments and this annoyed her greatly.
She laughed, " Yes I dose off every once in a while, but i try to stay awake so I don't drool. Oh don't take offense to me calling you kid, I say it to people older than me as well, just something I say sometimes." this statement was true, she could tell he wasn't very happy about the name, she didn't mean any disrespect by it. "Hmmm..what kind of rules? Oh any, within reason of course, I don't go around hurting people or something like that, I mostly just sneak out at night. What about you?" She asked, even though most people knew all the rules his lot broke.

christian watched as she begun braiding the bottom of her hair. was he boring, or was it just a habit? she seemed interested enough in what he was saying, and it wasn't like there was any awkward silences, so he assumed it was a habit. he ran his fingers through his curly hair fairly often, so it was probably just her form of doing that. he wondered if his hair would be long enough to braid if it was straight, and grinned at the image of having tiny braids. that would be weird. "ah, well it looks like you just invented a new word then. nest friend, an irish best friend."
chris had had his friends ever since he could remember. he couldn't imagine hanging out with his father growing up, his dad was too busy to play around with little kids. did most children have parents who spent time with them? because the goyle family certainly did not spend time with one another. except makenna and him of course. "i agree. those people who can't take a joke much be pretty miserable."
chris didn't think it was possible to stay awake in history of magic. each class, at least ninety percent of the class was asleep as the professor droned on and on about boring things. it had been interesting enough when they had been learning about hogwarts history, but not they were on to learnign about st mungos and the ministry, and those topics were just plain boring. office jobs and doctors were not fun to learn about. "i'm sure the people older than you must think you are insane." he said with a smile. when she mentioned hurting people, he tried to imagine evelyn being a part of the wicked wands and running around using crucio on everything. the image made him laugh, she looked too sweet and...hufflepuff for that sort of thing. "i don't know if you'll believe this, but i'm really not much of a rule breaker. i get up at night and go to the kitchens for snacks, and i've skipped class a few times, but besides that, i'm pretty tame for a slytherin."

She nodded, "Yes I guess I have, I've never made a word before." She clapped her hands together and chuckled, she figured this probably made her look like a little child but she didn't care. She tried to picture what his child life must have been like, but that frightened her so she stopped abruptly. She sometimes wished she could be a mother to all the kids in the world so that she could make sure everyone got to be loved, but then she remembered that she had no patience and changed her mind on that happy thought. She giggled slightly at the image of a little Christian Goyle running around in his wrappings; she then pushed the thought out of her mind.
She smiled, she always got so excited when people agreed with her and so she started to ramble."I know right? It's like how can someone go through life being soo serious all the time? Like come on get real."She took a breath to continue on but changed her mind and laughed slightly."Sorry I got a bit excited, I could have gone on for hours." She felt her mouth drop when he said he didn't break much rules, he is a Crabbe, she figured it was in his blood. She shut her mouth so she didn't look stupid."Woah, that is very interesting. You are a very weird boy you know that? But weird is good!" She added the last part rather quickly in case he got mad.

christian grinned when she clapped her hands together. it made her look so much younger than she was, like a child. it was odd how people could suddenly transform into someone else with one simply movement, or word. just like he turned into a real slytherin, just by glaring. he didn't like how easily things could change like that, it made everything too difficult to understand. plus, you could go on thinking something is one thing, but it really is the other. stuff like that wasn't good for a trusting person like christian. but he was overthinking it. the hufflepuff in front of him wasn't going to go to his sister and scorpius and tell them about him being a nice guy.
it was amusing how he agreed with her and she began talking quickly, a mile a minute as his mother would say. "it wasn't that bad. although if you had gone on for hours, i probably would have fallen asleep. nothing personal, but i cannot stay still for hours with nothing but talking to distract me. even if it is a pretty girl talking in a funny accent." chris knew he was weird. he was nothing like the rest of his family, and he was supposed to be like them. but he wasn't, he had almost gotten sorted in hufflepuff. a goyle in hufflepuff. how funny would that be? "well, you aren't exactly miss normal yourself there." [/blockquote]

She snorted, "How dare you mock my accent! It is beautiful! She snorted again, she new she sounded funny, which was exactly why she wanted to hide it. Although, Evelyn had a feeling that he was not serious. She thought about how as a child her friends would all dance around her laughing at how she would talk, and then she beat their rude butts. She snorted again after picturing this."Me? What is so un normal about me?" She asked like she was shocked. Everyone was a bit weird in their own way, that's what made people interesting. She crossed her legs and turned to face him, "I am as normal as a person can get." She said matter of factly.
Evelyn got the feeling that soon there would be students flooding around them, and that as soon as that happened Chris would flee. She did not want to end their little conversation the had going, so she thought quickly. I figure that as soon as you see someone that sees us you will run off, and that could be any second now , so I was wondering if you wanted to we could find somewhere else to go? Unless of course you could care less about talking me." She said with her best puppy eyes. Hopefully he would not find it weird, or revolting in any sort of way, because it was fun talking to this boy.

christian couldn't believe that snort had come from the delicate girl sitting beside him. he started laughing, and ended up having to stare up at the ceiling and breathe deeply to stop. it took a few moments, but eventually he was calm again. "who said funny can't be beautiful?" he asked, with a grin. beautiful and funny was always a good combination. in fact, it was his favourite combination in girls. but did it work the same way with accents? he really didn't know.
"well, you are a hufflepuff for one, and they are never normal." he began, thinking about what he was saying. he needed to make sure he didn't offend the girl. "and you are interesting. normal people are boring." so, it was lame. but at least he wouldn't offend her. she had a good idea to move somewhere else. this corridor was open, and anyone could walk down it at any moment. he would probably go running if there was a slytherin walking down that hallway, and she knew it. good thing she wasn't offended by that, that he was embarassed to be seen with her. he couldn't help the fact that he had a reputation to keep up. "the puppy dog look won't work against me. i'm immune" he said, thinking of all the times makenna had used that look on him. evelyn's was cuter though. "and i would go even without the look anyway. where do you suggest?" he stood up, stretching and offered her a hand to help her stand.

She smiled, his laugh was refreshing. "Well no one I guess. And, Some Hufflepuff can be normal.." She quickly tried to think of one but decided it was a lost cause."Okay, maybe you are right." She said laughing."Aw, well at least you don't think I am boring. You are defiantly interesting."She thought of her self as boring, but then everyone does don't they? And he was interesting, the total opposite of what she figured, but then so was Dahlia.
She pouted a bit when he said that he was immune, that could have worked on something else. Evelyn then laughed and thought for a moment trying to think of where they could go. There where lots of empty place they could go inside the castle, but there lies the risk still; they were probably better off going somewhere outside, but where?" Hmm..maybe we could just go outside and wing it from there?" It was funny how much your friends dictate your life, here Chris is having to hide so he isn't seen with me for the fear of being made fun of. It was a bit depressing yes, but you have to do what you have to do. She stood up and brushed off her backside, offering him her hand to help pull him up.

christian was trying to think of a hufflepuff that was normal, and it wasn't easy. first of all, he didn't really know many hufflepuffs, so he had to work with the few that he knew. he went through them, able to place something strange about each and every one of them. "nope. all hufflepuffs are weird." he said with a grin. she agreed with him, and his grin only went bigger. boring people were no fun. he was glad someone interesting had found him in the hallway.
chris tried to think of a safe place, away from where the slytherins would find him. the castle was dangerous, dinner was coming up and people would be heading to the great hall to grab their food at any time, most likely going through this hallway. they could go to the grounds, and find somewhere quiet. that was a good idea. it could work too. "sounds like a plan." he said, waiting for her to stand. hopefully they managed to get out of the school without being noticed.

She laughed as she started heading off toward the castle grounds. Evelyn tried to think if there was a time where she felt normal, she figured it was probably when she was a baby. But who remembers when they were that little, so maybe she was wrong. She fiddled with her hair as she was walking, looking around to make sure no one was coming. She new that if she where a Slytherin she probably would not want to be seen with someone like her either, it was weird having people be ashamed of her. She thought back to her childhood, when her parents were always so proud of her, and how everyone wanted to hold her and play with her. She sighed, and turned around slightly to talk to him, "So, What other kinds of things do you like?" she asked him curiously. As she waited on his answer she hurriedly opened the great oak doors and walked out onto the grounds trying to think of a good place to sit at. She saw a little spot a little off center by a big tree, it seemed like a good spot. She sat down against the trunk of the tree, the part facing away from the castle. She remembered the huge tree out in her back yard, she always sat there and read her books or whatever else you could do sitting under a tree. She often climbed up into the tree if she needed the alone time, it was the perfect escape. She pushed her legs out in front of her and crossed them at the ankles, folded her hands, and waited for Chris.

christian was jumpy as they walked through the school, glancing around at every step, making sure there wasn't a slytherin lurking around the corner. he tried to hide the fact that he was so tense from evelyn, but it was difficult to watch his back and focus on the conversation at the same time. once they were outside, he would be fine. he just had to make it out there. he just hoped evelyn was fine with the quiet walk they were having so far. just as this thought crossed his mind, she spoke, asking him about what he liked. what did he like? normal things. he wasn't really that strange a guy, he liked wizards chess and quidditch to a degree. exploding snap wasn't bad either.
chris waited until they had walked out the large doors of the castle before replying. "normal things, i guess. i like to read sometimes, and hogsmeade weekends are usually my entertainment. and i'd never turn down a good game of wizards chess." he replied, following her because she seemed to know where she was going. she led him to a large tree and he sat down beside her. it was a nice day out, sunny with a cool breeze. "and what about you? i've always wanted to study the mind of a hufflepuff."

She nodded, she had never played wizard chess, it looked complicated and Evelyn did not like to loose at anything. She herself didn't go to Hogsmeade much, she thought walking around by herself might look funny. "I don't go to Hogsmeade usually, but some candy from Honeydukes sure sounds good." She could not remember the last time she went to a Hogsmeade weekend, probably sometime last year. She laughed a bit,"Well lets see here, I'm pretty boring myself. I like to read, walk around a night be outside, eat..Normal things I guess." She said trying to think if there was anything really interesting she liked to do, she wasn't very interesting so probably not."Explore the mind of a Hufflepuff huh? Why is that?" she asked curiously. Hufflepuff's were not interesting, they were quite boring. The interesting ones in her mind were the Slytherins, yes rude and cruel, but they did things that she would be scared to do by herself. She was quite relaxed at this moment, what with the birds chirping and all. This is why she loved to be outside, except for the various insects, it was a perfect place to feel free. She figured playing Quidditch would feel the same, getting to fly around, wind through your hair and such. She would never try it though, in fear of making a fool of herself. She quickly pictured herself falling off a broom, how scary would that be? She was scared of falling from great heights anyway. She shuddered at the thought of hitting the ground and breaking something, the cracking noise of a bone was nasty.

chris went to hogsmeade at every chance he could, on the weekends, and sometimes on school nights where he just felt like he needed to get out of the castle. the owner of the hogs head didn't mind that slytherin students used the passageway from the room of requirement into his cellar, because he was a former slytherin and used to do the same thing when he was in school. so chris couldn't imagine why someone wouldn't want to go to the wizarding village. there was something for everyone to do there. "i'd kill for some honeydukes right now." he replied with a smile, to let her know he was joking. slytherins had to be careful when they used phrases like that, because there were still plenty of people who pointed out that it had been the slytherins that created lord voldemort and the death eaters. but not all of them were that bad.
christian liked hearing about hufflepuffs, because he had almost been sorted into that house himself. ravenclaws were too studious, and he didn't want to learn about a mind that was always thinking about school work. and gryffindors were not hard to figure out, pranks, quidditch and parties. but hufflepuffs really didn't seem to have one characteristic. there were shy ones, and outgoing loud ones. ones who hated quidditch, and ones who loved it. he wanted to learn about them. "well, i already understand slytherins, as i've spent five years with them. and ravenclaws and gryffindors aren't hard to figure out. so, that leaves hufflepuff."

She laughed slightly, of course he wasn't serious, just the thought of him killing for some candy was pretty funny."Yes i bet you would! Would you kill me if i had some?" she asked jokingly. She hoped that he would not but the question was too fun to pass up, or maybe he would kill her. Evelyn then started to absentmindedly braid the bottom of her hair again. The bottom of her hair was frayed from years of doing this, half the time she did not even notice she was doing it. She tried to think of something really funny to say, but nothing came to her head. She wished she could be extremely funny, maybe then more people would talk to her. She shook her head and looked over at him wondering what he was thinking, this boy was a mysterious one. She thought about this for a moment and finally she nodded,"Well, if you can figure out all of them then you got Hufflepuff. Hufflepuff is whoever is left and doesn't fit anywhere else. They say that Hufflepuff was willing to take in anyone."She said matter of factly. She was pretty sure she had heard the sorting hat say that in one of his various songs throughout the seven years of hearing them. She figured if there wasn't a hufflepuff she would have had to be randomly placed, she did not really have a lot of bravery, or a lot of brains, or even a lot of evil. She was a little of everything, except maybe a little less brains.

christian pretended to contemplate the questions she had had asked him. of course, he wouldn't actually kill someone for candy. that was ridiculous, illegal and stupid, because he could just walk to hogsmeade and buy some. "well, you see..." he began, trying to look as serious as possible. "that would depend on the sort of candy from hogsmeade you would happen to have. i would leave you alone if they were cockroach clusters, those are disgusting. but if you happened to have a sugar quill, or bernie botts every flavour beans, well then, you would be dead right now. one killing curse, and the candy would be mine."
his father had always told chris that hufflepuff was a pointless house, where the stupid and cowardly people were placed. they were a hodgepodge of everyone who wasn't brave, sly or smart, that was how he described it. but when people talked about hufflepuff, they talked loyalty. they weren't just the people that didn't fit anywhere else. they were the people who could fit anywhere, but just didn't have enough qualities of one or the others to be specifically placed there. "hufflepuffs are extremely loyal."

She nodded, it was still obvious to her that he was joking which made it hard not to laugh."Well i might or might not have something good in my pocket right now." She said jokingly as she grabbed her pocket and leaning away from him. This was turning out to be an interesting day, she had not really had much fun lately and it was nice to just take a load off and mess around with someone fun. She figured this would probably be the first and last time they would talk considering she was embarrassing to be around, but hopefully it would not be the last time. She adjusted herself back against the tree and crossed her legs at her ankles stretching her arms overhead as she yawned.
She nodded once again and contemplated his comment. "This is true, but me especially." She was the type of person that would take a secret to the grave. She liked to have people be able to trust her with their secrets, this was mostly because she liked to know people's secrets along with everything else about them. She was truly a nosy person but, she tried to hide it so people would not get annoyed by her."I'm sure you have plenty of juicy secrets to share with me."She added laughing slightly. She didn't really feel like this was a ligament comment considering who he was. She figured that he would take this as a joke as it was meant to be..sort of. She did want to know all his secrets but she knew that he would never tell her.
