Moira saw a flashing light before waking up in a panic. That is how she usually starts her mornings ever since she was little. She always had these strange dreams of a cloaked figure and a bright light, but never knew why or what they meant. Finding herself to be sweaty and exhausted, she went over to the water basin in the middle of the room and washed up her face and neck. The water felt so cool on her skin and she found that odd considering that it was cold in the room.
Moira put on her cloak and decided to go for a stroll to the lake, since she figured that it was around 6 in the morning. she made her way down the stairwell and through the large doors that led out to the lake.
When Moira reached the lake, she just stood there letting the cold breeze chill her as she, once again, tried to make sense of her dreams. At one point in her life she had written her dreams down, but only realized that the dreams were basically the same. Some had more detail than others, as some were longer. she sat down on a log when she heard some rustling behind her. she quickly turned around to see a figure walking in the distance.

lysander had been looking forward to this night for a very long time. his mother had told him a few months ago that the magic was going to occur that night, the day the sky would turn purple. she said that when they performed spells, all the magic went in the air, and tonight it was the night it vanished. the blue sparks were supposed to mix with the red colour of the sunrise, turning the sky purple. any other person wouldn't have believed the story that luna lovegood had come up with, but this was lysander. he was gullible, and liked to believe in miracles. so he was getting ready to sneak out of bed that night. tonight.
he crept through his dorm quietly, trying as hard as he could not to wake any of his room mates. he tiptoed past his twin brother's bed, not wanting lorcan to spot him. lysander was sick of getting lectured for believing in the impossible. he liked thinking that imaginary things were real. it made the world more fun. but his brother just didn't get it. lysander left the room, walking through the common room and then slipping out into the corridor. he made it outside five minutes later, with only one close call where he believed a professor was going to catch him. thank goodness, it was only another student out of bed who had come back from the kitchen snacking. they had scared one another, and then laughed.
it was beautiful outside, and lysander had an urge to run. so he did. he didn't notice the red head that was in front of him until he had run right past her, clipping her on the shoulder as he went. he stopped when he felt the impact and spun around. "sorry about that! didn't see you there." he grinned, and ran a hand through his light hair. "are you out here to see the purple sky?" [/blockquote]

Moira was stunned when she felt someone hit her shoulder, spinning her back around and almost falling to the ground. She tried to ignore the throbbing in her shoulder as she heard person that must have hit her say something. She was confused for a moment, wondering what lights, but instead of sitting there, looking like an idiot she decided to ask him about it. "Oh, there was no harm done. What lights are you talking about?" she asked, trying to figure out who it was that was standing in front of her since it was still too dark to tell.
Moira stood up so that she could be at the same level as the person in front of her. "I'm Moira. Have we ever met before?" she asked, wondering if she may have seen him around. Although, she wouldn't really know until she could see him clearly. She looked to the sky as she noticed that the horizon was starting to get lighter and the sky started to look a purpleish color. She thought about how beautiful it looked as she stood there in her cloak and blue jeans.

lysander hoped he didn't hurt the girl in front of him. she looked rather fragile, and it would make him feel guilty if he hurt her in his rush to see the purple sky. he tried to figure out if he knew her, and while her face was familiar, he couldn't fit a name to it. maybe she was a ravenclaw, and that was why he recognized her. that would make sense. he nodded when she said no harm done, still a little suspicious that he had hurt her. her shoulder seemed pretty stiff. "oh, the sky is supposed to turn purple tonight. it's because of magic build up. there was a story about it in the quibbler." he didn't read the quibbler, but his mother had mentioned that she wrote a story about the sky in there.
lysander smiled as the girl introduced herself. moira was an interesting name. "i'm lysander. and i don't believe so, but i do recognize you. are you a ravenclaw?" he kept his eyes on her for a moment, waiting for her response. but then they were drawn to the sky as he saw the colour change slightly, the blue beginning to change into purple. it was so lovely. but it definitely wasn't complete yet. his mother had said that it was going to be like fireworks.

Moira ignored the tingling in her arm as she looked at him, her pink mouth forming into a smile to show her teeth. "I love the quibbler!" she said. "It is so much better than the Daily Prophet, but I don't remember anything about purple lights." She lifted her shoulders into a shrug and looked at the sky again adding, "although, if the sky keeps going the way it's looking it'll happen!"
Moira could see the person standing in front of her more clearly than she could before, so tried to see if she could recognize him. "Yes, I am in Ravenclaw. "Lusander, right?" she said, asking if she had pronounced his name correctly. "Sorry, I can't seem to recognize you in this light. what year are you?" She started walking forward a little bit, going closer to the sound of waves hitting the shore hoping that if he was right about the lights, that it would be better to see where the sky reflects off of the water.

lysander grinned. it wasn't often that someone admitted to reading the quibbler, because it was known to write about "nonsense". personally, if lysander was a reader, he would take the quibbler over the daily prophet anyday. the quibbler was much more interesting. "do you? my mother is the editor. she writes a lot of the stories." he nodded in agreement at her comparison to the daily prophet, and then reminded himself to tell his mother that there were kids in hogwarts that liked her writing. "it was in the latest issue, put out today. you probably haven't seen it yet. hogwarts owls are always a day late with the quibbler. we can't seem to figure out why though."
so that was why she recognized her, he had probably seen her around in the common room. she most likely wasn't in his year though, because he couldn't remember her from any of his classes. he nodded at her pronunciation, looking up at the sky. when the blue sparks of magic exploded, it would be wonderful. "i'm in my sixth year. how about you?" he replied. he was curious, because she didn't look too much older or younger than he was. she was probably a fifth year, possibly a fourth but that was stretching it.

Moira was shocked when she heard that he was related to the most important woman in her life. "Are you serious?" she asked, not really knowing why since she could start to see the resembleance. The sun was even higher, making it possible to see who she was talking to. "She's my idol!" she added.
Moira looked at the guy and could see that he was a sixth year, which was around what she had guessed. "I'm a fifth year! Can't wait for the O.W.L's!" she told him, wondering how hard the tests would be so she asked. "Are they difficult?" She would hate to have spent all that time in the common room, library, or anywhere else that was quiet, studying for a test that she would fail. She looked at the sunrise in the distance and saw that the sun was starting to peak out from the mountains in front of it.

it was funny that moira hadn't guessed who he was when he told her his name. his mother mentioned him, and his brother, in a few of her articles in the quibbler. sometimes, she even let him put some of his poetry in it. and once, when one of her writers had come down with a very terrible illness, he had written an article for the magazine himself. so he was pretty mentioned in the quibbler. maybe she didn't read the taglines to see who had written what. "yeah, i am." he grinned, wondering if he really didn't look like luna scamander's child. he had been told by numerous people that when he stood next to his mother, they saw the resemblance. but maybe when she wasn't next to him, he looked different. "i'll be sure to tell her that. she'll be excited."
his mother loved knowing she had fans. mostly because when she was young and her father was in charge of the magazine, it was rarely read. it had even gotten banned for awhile when it published harry potter's stories, when the ministry was against harry.
he nodded when she told him her year, it made sense. that was why she wasn't in his lessons but still appeared to be around his age. at the mention of the owls, he scrunched up his nose. lysander was not good at school, and his OWL results had shown that. he hadn't passed most of his subjects, and barely passed the others. in fact, there was only one class he got over acceptable in, and that was care of magical creatures. "i'm sure they won't be difficult for you." he said, not wanting to tell her exactly how difficult they had been for him. he didn't have the attention span to study. he kept getting distracted.
