Sometimes, Mirany disappears from Hogwarts for about an hour or so. No one knows where she goes. Ever the optimist, she never wants anyone to see her sad and in pain, so whenever she feels down, instead of letting her sadness gain the upper hand, she found a bus that very few people ride. The bus leaves from a stop a few minutes walk down from Hogwarts' main gate, and goes around the Hogsmeade and the neighboring villages, returning in an hour. No one knows how often she rides this bus and she's never told anyone why she does, but she does it to express her emotions in solitude, and at the end of the ride, she gets back on her feet with hope in her heart and goes on with a smile on her face.
Goals: to make her father proud, to become an auror, to make a difference in someone's life, to change the world.
Overall Personality: The main thing about Mirany is that she's PASSIONATE. When she does something, she does it fully (or tries to), and puts her all into it. She often finds her herself getting involved in things, and when she gets involved, she really gets involved. She puts her all into it and immerses herself fully in any project she might pursue. Oftentimes, she feels too much and too deeply, and finds herself getting attached to things and situations. She usually has good intentions and doesn't mean to meddle, but it happens. And whenever this happens, she tries her hardest to see the project through, since it's usually too late to turn back at that point. She's also MOTIVATED and a HARD WORKER. She's focused on her goals and, if there's a visible endpoint, she will do most anything to see them through, and will work toward them to the best of her ability. When she starts something, she will see it through to the end, and, being quite the PERFECTIONIST, she'll work on it until it's absolutely flawless. Mirany is mostly always SINCERE, even when she doesn't mean to be, and opens herself to others without realizing it.
Most people can read her like an open book, whether they understand her motives or not, and her sincerity mainly draws from her INNOCENCE - most of her life was spent comfortably sheltered, with just her family, so it hasn't been hard for her to retain the innocence and wonder you'd normally find in a child. She knows very little about how cruel the real world can be, and has yet to experience the pain it can bring. Despite her own naivety, however, the young girl is very SENSITIVE to the feelings of others. She never hesitates to put herself in someone else's shoes, just so she can try to associate with their feelings and smile with them, laugh with them, or try to cheer them up. It's just in her nature to feel for others, and if she doesn't put an effort forth in trying to understand people's feelings, she herself feels as if she hasn't done something to the best of her ability.
Despite her comfortable background and the fact that she comes from a lineage of old wealth and could probably go through life without knowing much, she's incredibly CURIOUS. Day to day, she wonders about many things, whether it be why a particular bird is always hanging around a particular tree, or why that shady figure is always lurking in that dark alleyway. And, of course, curiosity kills the cat, especially when said cat gets involved and tries to 'fix' things - Mirany LOVES TO HELP people. If there is a way for her to help someone (or if she thinks there is), she will work to the best of her ability to do it, whether the person wants her to or not - it could be called 'meddling,' but the way she sees it, if she doesn't help someone where she thinks she may be able to, she's going to have that dreadful feeling in the pit of her stomach for quite a while. If she can make even just a tiny positive difference in someone's life, she'll feel accomplished, and that's important to her to help people. She hates being useless and would much rather prefer to be actively involved in things. She hates for her voice to go unheard and to be treated like a child, and so tries her hardest to be involved and have her opinion noted. She HAS HONEST INTENTIONS, of course, but sometimes things don't work out the way she invisioned them, and her helping can lead to making things worse.
Of course, then, she'll try doubly hard to make things better, but it doesn't always work out as planned. Her honest intentions lead to her ENTHUSIASM in most things she does. From someone who got everything she wanted as a child, you'd think she'd be more indifferent toward things, but having been sheltered and treated as a child for so long makes her feel as if she's experiencing everything for the first time everytime she experiences it, and she's constantly in wonder and sincerely excited about the things around her. This, of course, also makes her EASY TO PLEASE - the littlest things can make her happy, even things such as the fluttering wings of a butterfly or the sincere mirth in someone's laugh. She BELIEVES STRONGLY and is very TRUSTING, whether it be of a person or situation or even a plan someone comes up with. Her naivety makes her want to believe in things, and being the IDEALISTIC dreamer she is, she often has castle-in-the-sky like dreams and ambitions that would classify her as an OPTIMIST.
Mirany is incredibly LOYAL, as well - perhaps even to a fault. She will always stick by people she's close to, through everything and no matter what, even if they're clearly in the wrong. More often than not, Mirany, generally being PASSIVE and a PACIFIST, won't dare call anyone out, except perhaps in private conversation. After all, accusing someone of something inevitably leads to conflict, and she prefers to avoid conflict at any and all costs. There are, of course, some instances where this is unavoidable, but in most of her daily interactions Mirany will choose backing down over standing tall and offering a challenge.
She's EAGER TO PLEASE others, and more often than not pleasing someone involves agreeing with them, and agreeing with them means not offering a challenge. The driving factor in how she acts day to day is that she wants to be liked by otherse - this is one of her greatest strengths, as well as her greatest weakness. She's COMPASSIONATE in the way a child would be, often feeling sympathy and concern for others, even while barely knowing them. And on that note, she's also very FORGIVING - when she gets angry, her feelings do get hurt, but the grudge will pass after a night of sleep. She forgives easily and often.
Mirany's main weakness is that she's INSECURE and has LOW SELF-ESTEEM. Her mom, dad, brother, cousins - all of them are so amazing at everything they do that she never quite felt like she was able to live up to their expectations of her. All her life she's been walking in their shadows, trying everything but never quite good enough at anything, and she's long since gotten used to the offhanded comments of how she's too shy, too small, too weak, never good enough. This has also made her SENSITIVE TO CRITICISM, no matter how constructively it's presented. Because of her often intense involvement in everything she does, she takes feedback to heart, whether good or bad. Most of the time she's passive and won't offer a fight to anyone, often SUPPRESSING NEGATIVE EMOTIONS TO THE POINT OF EXPLODING. She holds in any sadness, anger, disappointment, until it all comes out, often in the form of an explosive temper and possibly an outburst.
Of course, she calms down easily, and it's rare for one to see her upset deeply enough that she becomes angry. When this defensive behavior is done and gone, the young girl will more often than not become EASILY FLUSTERED AND EMBARRASSED. She doesn't realize how open she is most of the time, but when she does notice, she immediately becomes embarrassed, too SHY and AFRAID OF BEING VULNERABLE. Mirany would often be described as CLUELESS, DENSE, and INEXPERIENCED - but in all honesty she's just straight up NAIVE. This is a positive trait because it makes her innocent, but it's also a negative one because more often than not it's to a point where she just doesn't understand what's going on anymore. She knows little about the cruel reality of the world outside of her sheltered little bubble, and is quite susceptible to being taken advantage of because of her own obliviousness. Despite this, she's IMPULSIVE and RECKLESS, often acting before thinking about consequences.
The girl is EASILY 'MADE TO DO' A LOT OF THINGS - that is, she experiences emotioins easily. She is easily made nervous, easily convinced of lies, easily depressed, easily saddened, easily made joyed, easily worried, and constantly second guessing herself. She is also CONTROLLED BY HER FEARS, constantly siezing up whenever she's faced by them. Mirany NEVER ASKS FOR HELP - from anyone. She's too stubborn and too eager to prove her own worth to ask anyone for help, and so she never does it. She also craves feedback from the people she cares about, but she wants to prove her own worth so badly that any crticism she might receive she takes to heart and becomes deeply affected by it.
And she also CAN'T SAY NO - partly because she's empathetic enough to feel for others on a personal level, but mostly because she wants to be liked by others, and what better way to accomplish that then to fill their every request and demand? She's also LOYAL TO A FAULT - the people she cares about, in her eyes, can never do anything wrong. She trusts them wholeheartedly, and is blind to their flaws. Because of the trust she puts in others and her (unintentional) openness, Mirany WEARS HER HEART ON HER SLEEVE. This is a good thing because it makes her openly sincere, but more than that it's a bad thing, because it can be damaged, so to speak, during daily everyday interactions, and her emotions are expressed easily and unintentionally, no matter how hard she might try to hide them. She often tries to help people, but unfortunately, this also means she often GETS INVOLVED IN THINGS SHE DOESN'T BELONG IN, 'meddling,' so to say, in other people's affairs. Of course, her intentions are usually good, but sometimes her good intentions bring more harm than good.
Yet, she keeps trying, because she's STUBBORN and OBSTINATE, too narrow-minded in her beliefs. Once her mind fixates itself on an idea it doesn't shake loose easily. Her non-existent self-esteem serves as the perfect example - no matter the compliments or praise she receives, the idea that Mirany will one day consider herself more than just a worthless little girl is laughable.

General History: Mirany's history starts with her parents, like everyone else's. Dudley Dursley and the woman who would become 'Mrs. Dursley' met in a muggle university and had a muggle wedding and settled down to raise a muggle family. A year after their marriage, they had a muggle son, and another year after that, another muggle son was born. And finally, a year after that, a little muggle girl was born to them.
Or so they thought.
Mirany was born on June fourteenth, a late spring day when the sun was shining and the Miranys were blossoming, as Mirany Petunia Dursley, named after the mothers of both parents. from the moment she first opened her eyes, revealing bright blue irises, and from the shock of red hair on her head, her parents could easily see that she had inherited traits from both of them: her fathers bright eyes in her mother's gentle face with a smattering of freckles across her nose, topped with hair that was in the recessive genes of both parents. As she grew, her eyes became bluer and her hair became redder and her skin became frecklier, and she's retained the same appearance since.
Having been given a long name, Mirany Petunia Dursley, was only the first complication of little Mirany's life. The second complication may have been that she was always smaller than other children. In her muggle school, the muggle children made fun of her and picked on her because of her size. That was only the beginning of her inferiority complex.
the first four years of Mirany's childhood were generally happy. the family of five was happy, despite the fact that the children grew up not knowing they're cousins and other relatives. they heard of the potters from their father once, and received christmas cards from them every so often, but they had never actually met them. for so long, they went without knowing that they had any cousins at all.
when Mirany was four and a half years old, however, her mother caught an illness and passed away a few days before christmas. little Mirany was too young to know what had happened - all she knew was that her mother was no longer with her, and that she'd never see her again. she cried for days, and after that, Mirany grew up not knowing her mother. having been so young when her mom had passed away, she could barely even remember her. only the sound of her laugh, the soft smile she'd give Mirany, stayed in her memory.
Mirany and her brothers grew up with their dad in the house at number four privet drive. throughout her entire childhood, however, they never once used the cupboard under the stairs for anything; it remains unused, gathering dust and cobwebs, to this day.
although she grew up not knowing her mother, her brothers more than made up for it. starting from a young age, both of them would spoil her and protect her, and were maybe even a little overprotective. if she fell off the monkey bars at the playground, one of them would be there to catch her. if the muggles were picking on her, they'd chase them away. they were the best brothers she could ever ask for. their father, on the other hand, wasn't exactly the kind encouraging father she would have preferred. from a young age, her eldest brother had showed prodigious skill in various areas, and was always winning praise from dudley. Mirany, on the other hand, was often being scolded, and made to feel inferior. she didn't do anything wrong, but she didn't seem to be doing much right, either. her father always felt the need to point out her shortcomings, and she lived her chlidhood in the shadow of her oldest brother.
around five years old, Mirany's non-muggle magic started to come out. and both her brothers', as well.
her first actual experience with magic was when she was six years old, at first grade in a muggle school. before then, she'd had some experiences, but they were just random bouts of magic, nothing substantial or anything. when she was six, though, it was during a recess break at school. some kids were picking on a boy, taking his snacks and making fun of his accent, and it made Mirany really really angry to see them taking advantage of him. she was stupid and impulsive then too, though, and thought she could take all of them on her own. that, however, somehow ended with her and the american boy surrounded by the first-grade bullies, but just as they were about to attack them, as only first-graders can do, they weren't able to get past the edge of the sandbox that she and the boy were in. years later, she would realize that this was a sort of downgraded version of a protego charm, but it had been enough then for her to know she was different.
when Mirany was seven, one day she stayed up late to wait for their dad to come home from work. her brothers had gone on to sleep, but she wanted to make sure he wasn't feeling lonely or anything, so she waited for him. when he came home, however, he was drunk and angry. all he wanted to do was sleep, but Mirany had stayed up waiting for him and asked him how his day had went. he got angry at her, and hit her, calling her a stupid worthless girl. but she'd been standing at the landing on the stairs and had fallen backwards when he hit her. she broke her collarbone from the hit and her leg from the fall, and spent a month in the hospital. neither dudley nor Mirany ever brought up the incident after he apologized once, and Mirany forgave him, passing it off as an accident. even since then, however, deep inside, Mirany has been slightly afraid of her father. he only hit her twice after that, but the verbal abuse continued and still continues to this day. but Mirany never told anyone that he hit her, not even her brothers, and stuck with the story that she had just fallen down the stairs.
when Mirany was nine years old, her brother received a letter from hogwarts. her father burned the first one, but after that, when they kept coming, he seemed to have recalled something and decided to tell his son. dudley wasn't particularly thrilled, but alas, the following september Mirany's oldest brother went off the hogwarts. and the year after that, her second-oldest brother also received a letter, and went off for magical schooling.
if Mirany's self-esteem hadn't already been at an all-time low, it would have been then. anxieties that she wasn't special like her brothers could have eaten her alive, and her dad wasn't making it much better with his verbal abuse of her. most times after talking to him, she would be reduced to tears. that, of course, just made him assault her more with his words.
the summer of her eleventh birthday, Mirany, too, received a letter to go to hogwarts. it was the third time representative wizards came to the family to explain that dudley's children were wizards. that august was Mirany's first time in diagon alley, and she received her first pet, a small pygmy owl with russet feathers and amber eyes. she was drawn to it originally when it flew to her when she entered the shop and started pecking her head. so, she bought it. it was small and adorable and oh so cute, and she named him adelais.
And the following September, little Mirany was off on the Hogwarts express, accompanied by both siblings and not knowing that her cousins were on the same train.
Once the first years had sailed across the lake during a thunder storm (through which Mirany had cowered in the boat for most of the time) and had arrived in the castle, soaking wet and dripping on the floors, they were assembled outside of the doors to the Great Hall and lined up in alphabetical order, before proceeding into an enormous room in which at least three hundred people were seated. All eyes were on the first years, and little Mirany dursley, with her bright red hair, felt herself shrinking into the crowd, keeping her head low and trying to blend in. Her anxiety only grew as names started to be called, and one by one the eleven-year-olds were seated on a stool with the Sorting Hat placed on their heads. Finally, the name Dursley, Mirany Petunia rang out, and Mirany scampered to the stool and sat down, as the hat was put on her head. It was big enough that it slipped right over her eyes and ears, stopping at her nose. Mirany was frightened, to put it lightly, as the hat sat there, debating with itself whether she should go into Hufflepuff or Gryffindor, and the few moments she had to sit there felt like they lasted forever. Just the thought that this hat could hear all her thoughts was scary enough - anyone would be frightened with all that magic on their heads. Eventually, after what seemed like an eternity, the small girl was sorted into the lion house. She hurried off the stool as soon as "gryffindor!" was cried out and hastily placed the hat back on the stool before running toward the gryffindor table, thrilled to be with at least one of her brothers. Just her luck, though, Mirany tripped on her way off the stool and fell flat on her face. For the rest of her time at Hogwarts, none of the students would let that down, and most labeled her as a klutz from that moment.
Hogwarts was as great as she had expected, Mirany soon found out; she just had to learn how to keep her curiosity in check and not go wandering off. She did, however, soon find out that of her brothers broke various rules on a daily basis usually, but she knew that she herself could never get away with it. She was too shy, too intimidated by many things to do any drastic rule-breaking. What's more, she found that she was very good at quidditch, but she was quite scared of heights and falling off a broom in midair. Although she wanted to try out for Quidditch, the fear of not making it onto the team kept her from trying, and, now in her fifth year, that same fear keeps her from doing that among many other things. at home, the verbal abuse continues, and little Mirany cringes everytime she sees that her father has sent her an owl, for she knows that it will contain disappointed words and harsh accusations and something along that lines of 'you're a stupid girl.' which, of course, is not entirely true, seeing as Mirany is at the top of her class. but either way, she's enjoying her time at hogwarts. For now, she'd just like to live her life and take one day at a time, never knowing what the future holds for her.
