hi there! my name is vega madison dering. i most often go by vega, but a select few get away with maddie, an affable nickname of sorts. (vega is a very well-known star, a bright one at that.) my home away from home is a small little cottage nestled in wales, most noticeable by my accent. it's cute and quaint, occupied by my parents when i'm away. yes, i'm an only child, and it does get lonely sometimes. my father has muggle roots, deeming me a half-blooded witch. my parents met in a library in london, as my mother most often dabbled in muggle literature. our house is filled to the brim with books and i often like to think that they compelled me to enjoy the written word. he's a professor of english, while my mother works long hours in the ministry.

i have brown eyes and dark brown hair from my mother's side of the family, but have the metabolism of my father; i stand at an average height, around 5'5", but look too skinny for my own good. despite the amount of food i eat, i can never gain any weight. it's a curse, really, as it's nearly impossible for me to gain any muscle mass and i bruise rather easily.

• traditionally, i visited ollivander's wand shop in diagon alley to purchase my own wand. it measures ten and a quarter inches long, consisting of a unicorn hair core and cherry wood, and it's reliably sturdy.
  

at hogwarts, i'm a shy, studious ravenclaw that thoroughly enjoys writing her assignments and spending long hours in the library. i'd rather listen to others than claim the center of attention, a trait i embrace. i'm modest and humble, also traits i embrace wholeheartedly. i believe that being friendly and reasonable are my greatest strengths, but along with those, i tend to be awkward, naive, and persistent. i favor homework over parties, but no amount of parchment could pull me away from hogsmeade.

• my favorite class is charms. i also elect to take a higher level of astronomy.
  
• if i could perform a corporeal patronus, i would expect a fawn to appear. they are gentle, innocent creatures.
  
• my boggart would be an owl, due to an unfortunate incident in diagon alley.
  
• my amortentia would smell of mint, parchment, and pumpkin.
  
• i aspire to become a reporter for the daily prophet. in addition to all my homework, i like to pen stories and poems for a creative release.
  

communication gets rather complicated with me, due to my fear of owls. yes, it's odd. i do not like birds and owls and to my chagrin, that's how most communication works in the magical world. i instead own a calico cat named triss. she's a wonderful companion, that is, when she's not off chasing invisible mice.

i have some wonderful friends in ravenclaw house, from all years. they're always up for studying for important tests and give excellent judgment and advice. my social circle does not usually extend to other houses, due to my reserved personality. but i have extended it to a lovely, misunderstood slytherin named albus potter, of the famous potters. my personal misgivings about slytherins are usually unfounded, or painted clearly by their members. he's just so sweet and unlike his peers. it might be too bold of me to say that i sort of had a crush on him since our first year, but i'd never let on.
