"music is for ninny's"
christian evan goyle was born on july twelfth, the second child (and final) child in his family. when he was young, he tended to fade into the backround, his older sister taking most of the attention. he stayed to himself mostly, admiring the world around him. when he was young, christian thought the world was beautiful. he would sit in the backyard and study blades of grass for hours, and watch the butterflies fly. once, he told his mother he wanted to be a butterfly. of course she went and told his father, who mentioned it to his best friends, vincent crabbe and draco malfoy. by the next day, the crabbe kids and scorpius knew, and he was being teased for it. that put an end to wanting to be a butterfly.
christian grew up with scorpius and the crabbe's, and it became apparent when he was six that he was different than them. the other kids were very opinionated, and they would talk about the same thing he heard his father speak about, blood status and hogwarts sorting. he never thought anything was wrong with muggles and muggleborn wizards, and he certainly didn't think slytherin was any better than hufflepuff. but because the other kids already used him as the butt of their jokes, he pretended to feel the same way, hoping he would change and become like them. chris looked up to the others, and wanted to be like them in every way. but for some reason, he was different.
chris hates being mean to people, and it seems that sometimes, thats all his friends do. so he teases and bullies people along with them, laughing about it in public but hating himself and feeling guilty as soon as it is over. the clan of children ended up getting a bad reputation, and no other kids would approach them to play. chris was stuck with them, as no other children would even look his way without fear in their eyes.
when it came the time to come to hogwarts, chris was terrified. his father had told him before he got on the train that if he wasn't in slytherin, there would be trouble. christian was very sure that he wasn't going to be in slytherin, after all, he wasn't mean, rude, opinionated, a bully or a blood purist. all the talk he had ever heard about slytherin meant that they were all of these things. not to mention, the eleven year old was absolutely terrified of snakes. and when he sat on that chair with the giant hat over his eyes, he tried not to cry as it mentioned hufflepuff as a possible house choice. he had begged and pleaded to be a slytherin, told the house he was like all the other snakes, and that he was just like his father. the hat had laughed at him, and he was sure he had failed his father.
strangely, the hat had put him in slytherin. chris was sure it was simply because of his wishes, because he had never seen a single slytherin quality inside himself. chris saw himself as garbage, a waste of life, because the fallen eyes talked that way, saying hufflepuffs were a waste. he was forced to pretend to agree with them on everything, because they were the only friends he had. and even though they were so different than him, and they did things he hated, he did love them.
